Assisted Living Communities in Viroqua, WI

"We visited Hillview Terrace, and the rooms were pretty much what I expected. The staff were helpful. The place was pretty basic, and the dining facilities looked fine. They had outings once or twice a week. "

"I chose Benedictine Living Community La Crosse because the price was better and the people were very friendly. I have a dog and I have no problems with that. The food is very good. They have soups and salads every day. They have very good choices. The staff is very friendly, and they keep coming and checking on you. If you're late for a meal, they're here to find out why. They're doing hamburgers, pork chops, chicken strips, ham, tuna salad, jelly sandwiches, breaded chicken, and barbecue pork on a bun. They're very clean. They're putting a new roof on. I don't see anything wrong. They had music, they made cookies for Cookie Day, and we did bingo, puzzles, and get-togethers. The rooms are a little bit smaller than what they could be. The layout is good. I wish they'd have like another foot in the bedrooms. They welcome animals."

"My mother currently lives in The Willows. The apartments are just fine. They have one and two bedrooms, and they keep them up real nice. They have recreation, they provide exercise classes, and musicians come in. The dining room is just beautiful. The food was going downhill, but now they got new cooks, and everybody is pleased again. If I'm that incapacitated and needed assisted living, I'd love to live there. She has been there for 13 years. "

"Of all the facilities I encountered, I like Bethany Riverside the best. They had several different sections and one even for Alzheimer's. I thought it was an excellent facility. We chose this for my father because my church supports it. My father stayed there for seven years. The facility was clean and it smelled good. It was very modern and very living room-like when you first come in the front door. It was very nice and very expensive. The staff was very kind and very caring for my father. He had a room and he shared it with another man. My father said food was very good. They had similar activities with other facilities and they took them out to eat or out to the mall once in a while. "

"My father is a resident of Eagle Crest South. The girl at the front desk is excellent. She answered everything that I ever thought of. They gave my dad a welcome packet with answers to all the questions that I would ever have, and between that and the girl at the front desk, she's been so helpful. It's quiet, clean, and brand new (almost). I think my dad is the second tenant in his apartment since it was brand new. They are quick, like if we need the TV setup, it's the same day set up. It's very easy there. They're accommodating. I know he met some people yesterday. The gal at the front desk kind of steered him in the right direction to meet new people, so he's playing cribbage today at 2:30. My dad really likes cribbage, so there are a few guys getting together for that; but that wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the gal at the front desk. She knew who to call and ask. She's been really helpful when I thought I needed the maintenance guy to come out. She had the answer, she said she's been there since it started, and she's heard all the questions. If she didn't have the answer before, she developed. So now, she has the answer when new tenants have that same problem. I think the cafeteria is closed because of COVID; I'm not quite sure, but I know one time my dad wandered down there and they were serving boxed lunch meals, so he got one of those. They're doing the best they can given the circumstances of COVID. I'm sure, later on, in months and months, the cafeteria will open, and that would be really good for him. They're working through the COVID thing. The facility is clean, nice, and wonderful. I know that gal I spoke with before tried to steer me in directions that I thought I needed. I thought I needed assisted living, and my dad has gotten better, so we didn't need that. But the numbers that I heard about assisted living were double what he's paying now. So, I'm sure there's a range that independent living rent falls in, and I'm sure it's in that range; it's not an outlier, I feel really good about it. I have no complaints because they've come through where I didn't even expect. Even setting up the phone, we got help with that. In setting up the TV, a technician came up and set that up. All these things, a person would never get with a regular apartment leasing company. So, they are really helpful. It's the sort of thing for older people who aren't technology driven. The washing machine is high tech and it's slightly complicated, but they've been helpful through that. The welcome packet has an instruction sheet, and the gal at the front desk knew just what to say in response to my concerns. The only reason I had questions about the washing machine was because I hadn't read the welcome packet, which had a few sheets in there. So, they thought of everything, and they've heard every question."

"I took my mom to Spring Brook for a visit about a year ago. It was a very nice facility. We liked that my mom would be on the 1st floor, so she didn't have to take elevators or stairs. We looked at a 1-bedroom apartment, which was very nice. They had a little pool, an exercise room, a nice dining room, a beauty salon, a little church area, and a theater. The amenities were very nice, but at that time, we were not ready. We met with the intake person, and she was very and very kind."

"I liked this nursing home very much. The staff seemed to be very friendly and genuinly cared about the residents. They would speak to us whenever we came in and give us some feedback on the progress and the things that their residents were involved in. They also told us events that they do for the residents so they arent couped up in their rooms all day. The only thing that i didnt really like was that they didnt really keep a close eye on my grandma. She was very old when she was in the nursing home so she didnt eat much so when she was given her meals she didnt eat barely any of it and the staff didnt seem to encourage her to eat. I know they cant force her to eat but they didnt even seemed like they tried to get her to eat. They also gave her a roommate that kind of scared my grandma. Her roommate was clearly no all there so she would talk to herself and say things that didnt make sense. My grandma seemed a little disturbed by that so i think they could have given her a better roommate, someone that she could actually talk to. But all in all i really did like this facility. Everything seemed to be kept up and clean which is always a plus. "

"We wanted my parents to go to Laurel Manor because it is convenient for everybody. It’s a smaller facility and it's very clean. We had wanted him to go there, but we don’t think he would have much socialization because it's just a small place. It’s a very nice facility because I do know a couple of people who live there and they enjoy it. It's a very quiet facility. "

"Milestone Senior Living - Hillsboro was a very nice place. The memory care rooms were large with private bathrooms and large windows that looked out to a field. The pro piece was that it was close to my dad's pastor who could visit him often, and it was also in a community that was into farming, and so a lot of the residents were farmers. However, when we were in the area that they ate, there were not enough open windows. It was a little dark, but the residents' room we looked at was very bright. I met Lisa and she was very, very knowledgeable about her residents that were admitted, and I thought she did a really good job. I had talked to her also two years ago and I was impressed with her back then. It's nice when you're able to talk to the same people because that means they haven't changed their jobs. So I thought that her, still being there, and the same nurse was still there, were some positive ones."

"Schmitt Woodland Hills is a wonderful facility located in a perfect spot for residents to sit outside and listen to the birds, or watch the squirrels, or in the fall enjoy the wonderful landscape of foilage. It is located close to a hospital and clinic if the residents need to seek medical care. The facility also offers transporation for the residents to their medical appointments. The facility offers a variety of activities for the residents to do including playing bingo, cards, and other games. There are frequently other activities that may include music and dancing. The staff are very friendly. They seem to be very helpful to the residents. The food appears hot and there is a variety of items served during the month. It appears clean and well organized. The apartments themselves seem to offer everything you would need such as grab bars, nonslip mats, and other safety features. Overall, I think this is a wonderful facility. "

"It is excellent because it's very small, and they pay attention to what's going on with my mother, and they report to me everything that happens. She's been there at assisted living for a month and a half. The staff is excellent, and she has a 1-room apartment with a bathroom. They have activities every day, they have low-impact exercises, and they invited community in to participate with the residents quite often."
