I chose Benedictine Living Community La Crosse because the price was better and the people were very friendly. I have a dog and I have no problems with that. The food is very good. They have soups and salads every day. They have very good choices. The staff is very friendly, and they keep coming and checking on you. If you're late for a meal, they're here to find out why. They're doing hamburgers, pork chops, chicken strips, ham, tuna salad, jelly sandwiches, breaded chicken, and barbecue pork on a bun. They're very clean. They're putting a new roof on. I don't see anything wrong. They had music, they made cookies for Cookie Day, and we did bingo, puzzles, and get-togethers. The rooms are a little bit smaller than what they could be. The layout is good. I wish they'd have like another foot in the bedrooms. They welcome animals.

We visited Benedictine Villa which was Catholic. The staff was very nice; the rooms were fine. They had a lot of activities.

Benedictine Villa (Meadow Wood) is average. I did not want to send my father there. It didn't seem warm and friendly. I deliver groceries there, and when I walked in, there was one resident that needed assistance, and I had to go find somebody for her. It was kind of stark. I came there to get some information for my father, and I stood at the desk and waited for quite a while before somebody came to help me. Then they didn't know any of the information that I needed, and they didn't offer anybody to come out and help. I also visited the skilled nursing, and they seemed pretty good there and seemed more friendly.

This facility had mostly good employees that worked there. Most were courteous and helpful with my grandfathers special needs. My grandfather was on a quite a lot of prescription medication at the time. I am unsure of the type of medication but it turns out that some of it was being taken from his prescription bottles and assumed it was either being sold or taken by an employee. There were a few staff members that didn't give him the time of day as well. The food that was served wasn't up to standards that should be given to residents that pay a lot of money to live there. It was similar to mass produced cheap government food.

The staff were nice, the facility was very well staffed, and they seemed like they were doing a great job helping out and taking care of the citizens. The amenities of the center seemed pretty adequate and enjoyable to the residents. However, the rooms were not great, and quality of the center itself wasn't too appealing. The rooms were bland and generic, almost like low-rate hospital rooms and the recreation areas were really generic. Also, the environment around the facility was plain and boring and not appealing. Scenery for the residents was not calming or relaxing. Although it wasn't a great place, this was a good place for my grandmother to stay.

My b rother resides there. If I ever need such service, I would consider relocating there. THe staff turnover is negligible and their level of care, respect and professionalism is outstanding.
