"I'm very impressed with SpringBrook Village of La Crescent. It's well taken care of. The rooms are very large. The people are very friendly. The food is incredibly good. It's homemade. Everything about it seems very good. There are fewer caregivers than I wish there would be, but that's true everywhere. In terms of activities, they do music, arts, and movies. They have entertainers, and they have this thing called slide drumming where they go and do African drumming."

"I used to live at a senior community center in La Crosse called Eagle Crest South. I was there for independent living and liked it there. I lived through the pandemic with them. They had to stop the dining in unison so they had to deliver our food, and control interactions with staff and outside visitors. They had clear guidelines for things and followed up when there was a problem. The administrator was particularly very good at that. They were innovative. They had potlucks and entertainment with new foods and things like that. They did outside events. They let people start programs, too, so we started a lecture series that was once a month. We also did a monthly tea. The value for money was good. The price was lower than some of the other places."

"We visited the Eagle Crest Communities in La Crosse. The facilities were fine and they had a nice range of care. From an individual, more senior living type of care, to memory care, and expanded assisted living. They also had two levels of assisted living, which was interesting because the other places didn't have that. Then on top of the two levels of assisted living, they had memory care, which is their highest level. We looked at their assisted living during our visit. We checked the dining area, and their facilities in general. The floor plan was very good, they had a couple of different options, and it seemed to be very clean. Of the places we visited, it was the only one that offered memory care, so if you have people who were beginning to have signs of dementia but didn't need a nursing home, then this place would be a very good option for them."

"I moved into Carroll Heights Apartments. They have three different sizes of apartments and three different prices. They also have studios, of two different sizes of studios. And they also have meals that come in every day. If you want to buy your meals they give you a menu every month. There's a refrigerator and stove. The appliances are provided and there are conditions. There are some maintenance men. They have a maintenance office and they have a mailbox outside the door with slips. If you want anything fixed or looked at in your apartment, you just throw it out and put it in and then they get to it within a day or two. I have zero complaints. There's this full-time cleaning lady, she just keeps the hallways and the laundry rooms clean. There are laundry rooms on each floor. The main floor is where you take your recyclables, but if you're just throwing out your trash, your garbage, each floor has a bin and you just throw it down the chute. You don't even have to go downstairs to throw it away. They have activities all the time. It's put on by some of the ladies that live here. They have a day room where it has a table and you can do puzzles. It has a banquet room, which you can use for free as long as you clean, we'll say birthday parties, which also has a refrigerator and a stove in it. They put fliers up. I know that in December we're making fudge and peanut brittle, activities like that."
