"I happened to visit Caledonia Care and Rehab Buck, once my co-worker asked me to accompany him as he wanted to see his Mother in law. This was my first visit to any such facility and I had fairly high standards in my mind. Once we entered the facility, we did not find any parking place. It took us some time to park the car at some distance away and then enter the facility. Staff was not present at the reception so we had no one to guide us to her room. We managed to find the room and met the old lady. She was very unhappy about the behavior of the staff and food standard. She wanted to quit this facility as soon as possible. We found the corridors untidy and the building in a miserable condition. Mean while, the waitress had brought her lunch. The quality of food was low and utensils were not clean too. The residents were quite a few in numbers and looked gloomy. I did not find any life or home like environment here. The nursing staff was not present and we found no arrangements to handle the patient. My co-worker promised the lady to find some alternate arrangements for her. I was not impressed with the facility and would not recommend for loved ones. "

"My mom had a stroke and went to Norseland to rehabilitate after. The physical therapist did a very good job, which was what she mostly needed at that point, and the rehabilitation went very well. I didn't eat any of the food, but she seemed to be OK with it. Their cleanliness gets very high marks. "

"My dad was a resident of Vernon Manor. It was good. It was a typical nursing home, but it was not as homey as it could be. The staff was very helpful. The social worker was incredibly helpful in getting my dad what he needed and also with paperwork. Therapy was willing to work with him. The cleanliness was fine, but it's an older building."

"Marycrest was really, really nice. I like it for my husband. They showed us apartments, which were really nice. Also they had a place, if you were able to, to work out and they feed you lunch. I thought the rooms were really nice, but the only thing I didn't like was that AC and heat was from a window. Overall, I like Marycrest because if you got really bad, they would transfer you. "

"Lake Winona Manor had different levels of care my mom could go to, but for her, she was doing rehabilitation. So, actually, (it) had more care. However, the room was very dark and depressing. It was like there was no light in the room, like no light coming from the window, and the part that she was at was more hospital like. There were more people checking on her when she needed, but it was something she did not like. Unfortunately, some of the nurse's aides did not work well, like when she needed help wiping after she went to the bathroom, and she had a bandage that they took off when she came from the hospital, it just laid there on the couch for like a week. When I asked the nurse's aide about it, she called, a nurse came, and acted like it they were going to do 10 times extra work, and she was just like, "Ah, just throw it away." Yeah, just throw it away, but why did it had to sit right there for a whole week, and I pointed it out. However, my mom liked a lot of the staff and a lot of the people that she met there. She did not get to do a whole lot of the fun activities because she always had to be in the rehab like physical therapy and other therapies. Whenever they seemed to have something at the same time, she had to do things. I knew on the weekend they had some person came in and play musical instruments. However, she got really strong, because before, I barely could get her in my car, which was more like an SUV, and then all of a sudden she could really get herself in there with no problem. "

"Tweeten Lutheran Health Care is clean, it's safe and it's convenient so that's why we chose it. It's closer to home. For us, it's only about 5 minutes. Mother is in a very spacious, bright room. The care is very good. A few months ago, we were more looking for an assisted living but since that time, she has become more in need of a 24-hour nursing home facility. We've eaten there many times. The food is great. They have arts and crafts and bingo, they have lots of individuals come in playing live music. If they're in need of a nursing home facility, we would recommend it. "

"My sister-in-law has a room there and she receives excellent care. She was in Caledonia where her care was also good, but she started not caring for herself after stools. Then she required more care that they could give. So she came to Rushford and has received wonderful care. She can get quite cranky, but they continue to treat her gently and lovingly. I highly recommend Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. "

"My Mom was a patient in the long term care facility for a brief time. I was very impressed with the staff that cared for her. They were kind, caring, and certainly made her last days wonderful. While I stayed with Mom, they took extra time to make sure my needs were met. Environmental services, dietary, nursing, pastoral care, administration and activities departments were outstanding! We have a large family, and they made sure we had a place to gather even providing coffee and nourishments for us. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the people! The only downfall is that the building is older but even with that obstacle, they make it as home like as possible. I would not hesitate to have another family member become a patient there! "
