"The lady that conducted the tour at Apple Valley Place at Charles City was very kind. She was very explicit in the facility, and the explanation of the care, and that we could come and go as we please so long as we were in the care unit, not in the nursing unit. It was just a really nice visit. It was a very nice facility and I was quite impressed with it. The rooms were very nice, and the common area is always kept very clean. It looked spacious. It didn't feel like you were confined in a cage or anything. It was a very nice space."

"South Grove Lodge Senior Living was really nice with open hallways. It had lots and lots of things for the residents to do. They had an ice cream parlor there, with free ice cream for the residents once a week. They even had a little pub where the residents could go and have a glass of wine or beer or mixed drinks. It's not all the time, and they don't give them more than one. I saw a lot of residents around doing puzzles in open areas. There were a lot of things going on there. They had a library and several common areas. They also had outdoor raised garden beds that the residents could use if they wanted to, and it was really nice. They put you in an independent living apartment, and as you need assistance, you can just add that up. If one has a medical need, then they have a separate wing with studio type apartments. We went there during meal time and it looked like the people were enjoying the food. They have a garage for residents who have their own cars, but they also have free transportation wherever they want to go."

"I have saved a room at Legacy Manor II. Everything is brand new, and my room is the biggest one of the unit, so I have ample storage for my stuff. The staff was very nice, she took me on a long tour of both buildings, and she just went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and at home. There’s an arts and crafts room directly below my apartment, and right next door is the exercise room. I do the machine to strengthen my legs, and having it right next door is really convenient. Right now, I’m in independent living, but the room that I have can be converted to assisted, so it’s a good thing. The dining room was spotless, it’s kept so neat and nice, and it just looked really inviting. "

"My father is at Cedars of Austin and it's been very good. They have meals, coffee time, activities, and a whole bunch of stuff. His room has a private bath, a very nice view, and it's very nice for a person with memory issues."
