People with cognitive impairment are impacted by changes in their circadian rhythms or the body’s internal system that helps to understand when it is day and night as well as regulating sleep, and temperature. By having a system that emulates the lighting we hope to minimize the effects of sundowning and investing in maximizing our bodies' natural systems. Benefits we hope to see are: Increased alertness in the morning Productivity and concentration improvements Improved mood and sleep Reduction in falls Improved appetite To learn more about this provider’s license and review other available state reports, please visit: Arizona Department of Health Services Public Health Licensing

I visited this facility

We met with the admissions people of Fairmont Village and took a tour there. They were very informative. They had a lot of activities. They had a lot of staff there to help all the people they had. They also have traditional memory care and behavioral care, which we liked. It's very clean. They both have private rooms and shared rooms. They also supply all the sheets, towels, shampoo, and all of the hygiene stuff. When we were there the other day, they had a gentleman who was singing to them and he comes quite often. They have bingo and word games. They have a dog that comes in, Max, to visit with the residents. They have a coloring day and a target toss in the behavioral section. So, it seemed like they had a lot of activities for them, which was nice to see. Everybody said hi and good morning to us. They seemed very intuitive to everyone around them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms are fine. Because it's 'memory care', families of future residents need to know that residents do wander into each other's rooms sometimes. Staff tries to re-direct, but it does happen. The facility itself is really great! Both times I toured - and I toured Meadows, which is the most secure unit, dealing with the most intensive behavioral problems - I could not walk past more than 4 residents without seeing a staff member among them. I observed various resident-staff interactions, and I was quite pleased with the compassion yet firmness, and the attention of the re-direction, using resident's names. Subsequent to my stepfather's admission, when I would call to check on him, the staff was friendly. Further regarding staff - because I live hours away from Fairmont, in another city - I am quite grateful and pleased to say that I have been given the time and privilege of weekly phone meetings with The Wellness Director. Every week, she calls me, and she has reports from Care Givers, Activity Staff, and various other staff, including on-site drs.. I am able to keep up with my stepdad's behaviors, meds, overall health, as well as what he needs, in terms of supplies, further dr. appts., etc. The facility is clean, smells fine, and everyone from the Admissions Director to the cleaning staff is friendly, and seems happy to work there.

We are so thankful we found this memory care community. Top notch staff, top notch leadership, top notch care. My dad used to just lay in bed and watch TV, now dad has a purpose everyday and that takes the world off our shoulders.
