We love The Pines at Birmingham Independent Living. It's a small 68-unit community that I feel like I'm a part of, and not just a resident. I also like the fact that there is no assisted living or memory care. I don't feel older than I am while I'm here. The meals are fabulous. The staff is amazing. They treated me like family, not like a resident. I feel like I'm at a five-star resort with the meals, and the chef always comes out to ensure our meal is delicious, and then he asks for our input on future meals. The cleanliness of the property is on point. Maintenance is asking if I need anything, even if I haven't put in a work request. We have a game room, and we also have a sun porch, which is really nice. We have a computer area, which is nice if you don't have your computer. They have a beautiful courtyard area with a ton of birds and wildlife, but it's the theater that I wish we had, which they said is coming. Also, we're in a two-bedroom and a bath. It's the largest one they have, and I pay $3,500 for it.
