I visited this facility

I visited Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover and had lunch there. I also talked with some of the employees and residents. They have nurses on site, and they have a facility with medical staff there to assist you with anything that you may need, just in case you're having one of those days. Personally, I like the setup the way it is. It's set up like a hotel inside, but each room is everyone's individual apartment, so I like that part of it. They have a lot of community areas for painting, drawing, or writing groups. They have all different levels of activities. I guess someone had moved out of the unit we were looking at, so they were redoing it. It was a little bit noisy, and the staff was a little bit busy that particular day. Once you walk into your room from the hallway, I think that's when you get that full apartment feel. Just like a house, the apartments have different floor plans. Each one of them has either a patio area or a balcony area, so you could live within that facility and really feel like you're in your apartment, or you can come out and go down and join groups or anything like that. I can't say how the noise level would be inside the apartment because I didn't get a chance to do anything in there, but I think it'll be fine. The dining setup they have was you have a seat at a table, and they have a limited menu, but they have options where if you don't want what is on the menu, you can also choose from the side options. That set up is more like a restaurant, so they come to get your order, you make your choice, and they give you a choice of beverage, too. I kind of like that part of it. It's not just a buffet style where you go and get your own food. I tried their food, I had a Turkey Tetrazzini, and I thought it was fine. I would think that it was a little too grind down, I don't need my food cut up that small, but I think the overall option and the food were good. They also have a chef on site. I would say that, seeing that the flu season has pretty much started, I did not see any hand sanitizing stations, mask options, or the signs saying to make sure that you practice that. I may have overlooked it, but it was not clearly visible to me. With it being a nursing home environment, I would have thought that these things would probably be jumping out at you because you get a lot of visitors and maintenance people there. A lot of these are elderly people, so I was kind of expecting that. Overall, the layout, the way they got it set up, and the options that you have as far as living arrangements were all excellent.

I visited this facility

I toured Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover. The lady who toured me, I guess, was the front desk manager. She was really nice and very helpful. She walked me around and let me see the dining area. We looked at the community calendar, which shows the different activities that are available daily. She also let me tour a room so I could see how a room was set up. She was very pleasant and gave me a nice packet with information. She showed me a game room. I got to see some people playing games in a small gym area. They had a piano there on site, which was nice. They also have a bus that can take them to the store and on different outings and assist with appointments. So, I thought that was really nice. All the rooms were equipped with patios, so they had outside spaces with the rooms, which was really nice.

Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover is a nice facility. The manager who gave the tour was a nice man. He's also very helpful. They have a facility that is sort of a restaurant, and it's really nice. I think three meals a day are also included there. They have a refrigerator and a microwave in the apartment. However, I didn't like the fact that they didn't have a stove or anything like that, because I'm a pretty good cook. I can understand why they don't have those, though, because a lot of these people are elderly, and when they walk away from a stove for a minute, they burn up. Other than that, it's a very nice building and it's clean.

We toured Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover. It was a very nice facility with friendly staff. We liked that you could get a one-bedroom or studio. It's very spacious. It has a kitchenette but not a full kitchen and offers meals and activities. It's a very similar price point.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover. What I like, number one, it was recently remodeled. Number two, the residents are very friendly, and we all get along. Number three, I like where I'm living, and the area I live in. The staff is good. The facility is very clean. They got a lot of activities. They have something going on every day, and sometimes seven different activities during the day. The food is pretty good. It's fresh all the time. As for the value, if I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't be here.

I visited this facility

The facilities of Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover were very inviting and modern. I didn't see many people there, but everybody was out and about. They only have kitchenettes. They don't have washers and dryers in the individual room. The guy who showed us around was great. The structure of the building was pretty straightforward. It wasn't convoluted in any way. It's easy to find your way around. There was updating/renovating going on at the time. The rooms were very nice. They had a nice little patio. It was big enough. It's comfortable and it's got a big closet.

I had an in-person tour. They were very friendly and accommodating. It was very spacious. We liked the fact that everyone kind of seemed to know each other. It was a very good community. They had a refrigerator and a microwave in there. There was no stove. They serve meals. The staff was bubbly and hilarious. He was very friendly and full of energy. They had balcony spaces or patio spaces.

It is fine. It has a chef that's been there for seven years. They have arts and crafts and things like that. They have books. The apartment that I'm moving into is very nice, so I'm happy with it. The staff is very kind and they're happy all the time. It's a good place to live. The food was delicious. They offer all kinds of facilities. There's a bus that takes you to and from the doctor or on a trip like if you want to go to the store. They have a walking trail that goes all the way around the property. There are a lot of other amenities.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived here for four months. What I liked the best about that place was it was in a fairly scenic area with lots of forests and trees and stuff. I had a patio that looked out towards the forest. It was nice. The staff were very nice, too. The meals were good. My only problem with the meals was going to the dining area. No matter how early I got there and I'd sit at any table, people who had been residents for a long time would be disappointed because I guess they've been using that table for a while and you can't reserve a table and they'd say, "Now you've broken up our game. We can't sit at this table anymore." And I said, "Yes, you can.", but I am occupying one of the seats. So, that was sort of disappointing. It was kind of like, "We're acting like kids now. You're supposed to be seniors.", but that's not the property's fault. They showed movies, they played bingo, and they had people come and play music some of the time. The facilities are pretty good. The only complaint about my room was that it had a full-size refrigerator, but there was no way I could heat my food. There was no microwave. No conventional oven. No dishwasher. Nothing.

It was a nice facility, but it's not as nice as the other place. The eating area looked comparable. The staff was friendly. They have a weight room and a library. They do not have an indoor pool or an on-premise barber or salon. They have an on-premise healthcare provider, which is good. They have some comparable amenities. They just don't have a full set like the other place does.

The staff was very, very friendly, and very helpful. The people who lived there were very friendly, too. We ate there and the food was good. They gave us a list of activities they do and they have quite a bit of things going on there. The rooms were just a little bit smaller.

It was a beautiful place. Our tour was wonderful. The lady who showed us around was very warm and inviting. She gave me all the information that I needed and she had a package to take home with me. She's even kept in contact with me since the visit. The rooms were huge and spacious and it's got their own private bathrooms. The one she showed me was on the back side area and it had its own entrance, which was nice. The building itself was nice and there was a courtyard space outside. Residents get meals and do little activities. It was a pretty good atmosphere. People seemed to be happy. There were a lot of smiling faces. So, it gave me a good vibe about that place.

It was really nice. If I ever had to go to an independent living facility, I would want to go there. The lady that toured us was very, very helpful. They serve food restaurant-style and their dining room looked very lovely.

It wasn't as new as the other place. I didn't see people interacting a lot. It was bigger and crowded, and the parking lot was crowded, getting on the highway was a pain in the butt. But, overall it was nice for somebody who didn't mind that. I just saw the boy that took me on the tour. He was very knowledgeable, very nice, and answered all my questions. I had no problem with that. It's close to stores, big malls, and a hospital.

It had a lot of activities. There was a lot I liked. What I disliked was the cost, the room was smaller than where we're going. Otherwise, it was very clean and very nice. I talked to several people there and the staff was very helpful and very nice. They had amazing amenities. It was cruise ship-like because that's how they described it. They had a hair salon, a beautiful dining area, and lots of activities available.

It was really good. We had an unscheduled appointment walk-in, but they treated us very nicely, and they were able to show us around. We were impressed with the appearance of the facility altogether. The staff was excellent. We didn't have lunch, and they told us about the Covid situation and the limitations that they had. We didn't want to do lunch if they invited us anyway because of that. We weren't particularly looking for any of the amenities. My mom is very sedentary, and she doesn't get involved with a lot of activities. What I like more than anything was the townhome experience with it.

I really liked it and would probably choose it over the other place that we visited, if not for the location. It seemed like there were a lot of activities in the facility to do as well as lots of outings. The person that took me around showed me everything. The rooms were a little bigger than normal and some included an outdoor space.
