"My husband has advanced Parkinson's and has been attending Mt Olivet Day Services for ten years. The facility is clean, cheerful and spacious. The staff is wonderful and their turnover very low. Field trips, fun activities that provide physical and mental stimulation, guest speakers and entertainers, excellent meals and bathing are provided. The staff takes special care to communicate with the families of participants and to provide for the participants' special needs. Mount Olivet Day Services also includes a childcare component in the same building and there are many activities that bring the children and the "Grandmas and Grandpas" together. My husband and I regard this program as dear family. "

"I found the development to be very well staffed for the amount of patients that were there. The patients received schedules for their daily activities, including time for activities such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, swimming, acupuncture, lunch, dinner, and more. I remember a couple patients had trouble reading and understanding their schedules, and also noticed the schedule sometimes was incorrect or not accurately communicated with me as a volunteer. With the exception of a few members of the staff, I did not feel very close or remembered with my weekly volunteering. Perhaps that was due to them having many volunteers, so I may have been seen as expendable. I was providing a lot of help to the patient however, so my time there was rewarding.The facility itself was magnificent. I was amazed with the building and with what was offered for disabled individuals. There are activities rooms with games, books and movies, common areas with television, laundry areas for those able and wanting to do their own, and a beautiful pathway to walk around outside with a quiet stream. The facility was well kept, clean, and well lit. Nursing staff seemed to always be readily available to patients and communicated with them on a friendly basis. "

"My father was a resident of the memory care unit and later received hospice care while at Meadow Woods. The care was excellent in all areas. The aides were well trained and were quickly responsive to the residents call lights even during the week of nights that I spent there during my dads hospice stay. The aides had a good rapport with all the residents and appeared to genuinely like their job. The nurses communicated well with the aides on a daily basis along with making frequent in house visits. The nurses coordinated well with the nurse practitioner and any changes in my fathers health status were promptly attended to. Care coordination between the Martin Luther staff and hospice nurses was seamless, giving my dad pain free end of life care. "

"The rooms were clean, and the food served is a well balanced meal for the residents. My mom was placed in the Treatment Care Unit at Sholom Homes. I am really impressed with the staff. The nurses, aides, and administration staff are very caring, compassionate with the residents. The administrations staff (Paula) work on placing my mom in hospice so quickly, and communicated all the info in a timely manner. I knew my mom was in good hands."

"It's a wonderfull place for your parents to go They have so much to do do that before they know it time to go home I had many years since my three parents participated there and they had a ball socializing with people there age after my mom didn't go any more she keep asking when her day was that she went Staff care for them as they are there parents they do many fun outing All I can say check them out and you'll see"

"I had a very positive experience at The Glenn Hopkins. I just thought the whole kind of college campus feel of that facility with three buildings would be a little much for my brother. They have beautiful grounds though, and very nice buildings and amenities on the main level. He would have an independent apartment and he would be able to go down to that main level either to visit the library or if he wanted to get his haircut or wanted to go down for a meal. It is a Catholic-oriented place, which also is a positive thing because our family is Catholic, so they have a mass daily and he'd be able to meet with a priest if he chooses to."

"My father moved to Apple Valley Villa, the independent living section of Apple Valley Village. We're starting him off on independent living, and then he just got approved for Medicaid, so I hope to bump him up to assisted living. It's nice that you can add services as you want, the higher they go. They also have memory care and all that, so they've got all levels here. It's beautiful. They have a large walking area with a fountain outside. We got him a 1-bedroom apartment with a living room, a kitchen, and a balcony. There's also a nice front desk where you can pick up your mail. When the residents move in, there are grocery carts and flat beds for them. They have activities that you can do, and you can sign up to get on a bus, which is like a small van, with some of the other people, and go grocery shopping and things like that. I think they do that once or twice a month. They've got lots of other activities, too, like movies and games, and group activities. You can get together for some of those. For women, they have knitting and things like that. They also play Bridge and have an arts and crafts room. For independent living, they have washers and dryers for each floor where you can do your own laundry, and it's a free service. For assisted living, they can get your laundry and wash it for you. It was wonderful. They have a huge dining room area with a salad bar, and they bring the food to you. They also have another area that's kind of like a deli area where you can get pop and sandwiches. We signed my dad up for one meal a day, but you could do 10 meals in a month and then bank them to use 10 meals anytime you want. For the assisted living part, you can pay to get two meals a day. The dining room area was nice. They also have a non-denominational chapel there where you can have masses. They have a movie room with a big screen TV, too. Out of some of the places I visited, this one was just really nice. Everybody that I've met so far, like the housing person and the front desk people, and even the residents, are all saying hi. Some of the ladies are scooting around on their scooters. One even has a kitty cat that's on a leash, so she walks her cat around, and it's just really cute. The fact that you can add an amount for the specific services you want, as the person declines more, I'd say the value for money is pretty good."

"Overall we have had a good experience with this nursing home. The employees are respectful and there is always somebody close by if someone needs help. The employees are also very friendly and are looking out for everyones best interest. Even the food that they serve is good. They also provide trips/vacations. For example last year we went to a twins game and to several parks. I am very pleased with this nursing home. I would reccomend it to anyone in the burnsville area looking for a nursing home for a loved family member. "
