Bright Stars assisted living is conveniently located on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis. We decided to check it out for our uncle, since it is accessible from anywhere in the city and surrounding suburbs. This is of great concern to us, because our family wants to be able to visit our uncle regularly. When we arrived, we thought the facility looked like a modern, mid-sized apartment complex. The main rooms were well-kept. However, the décor was nice, but seemed a bit stiff. The rooms were adequate, but again, didn't seem particularly warm. There are educational programs and many good outings offered. The staff was friendly and there seemed to be enough of them available to attend to the needs of the residents. The facility offers skilled and individualized nursing care, such as for diabetics and other health care concerns, including Alzheimer's. They are well equipped to handle rehabilitation and ambulatory services. The food looked appetizing, but we were not offered samples. The activity rooms included games, television and books to read. Our uncle like the reading room, which had plenty of good books to choose from. The facility is adequate, but since it seems to specialize in non-ambulatory residents, we decided against placing our uncle there.
