"Maribel and her caregiver team exceeded my expectations. I needed someone to sit with my mom at night at her memory care unit while she recovered from a fall that dislocated her shoulder. Augusta and Shiela were kind, attentive, and proactive. They kept detailed notes that were immensely helpful. Additionally, Maribel dropped by almost daily to coordinate care with the staff at her residence. I don't think you can find a more caring, competent, and professional service anywhere."

At Seniors Helping Seniors, the mission is simple yet powerful: to provide older adults with the ability to live independently in the comfort of their own homes while being treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Proudly serving the Tri-Valley and Fremont areas, this family-owned agency offers a wide range of non-medical in-home services designed to meet each individual’s needs. From companion care such as socialization, meal preparation, transportation, and light housekeeping, to personal care like dressing, bathing, ambulating, and memory support, Seniors Helping Seniors provides compassionate assistance tailored to every client. What makes the organization unique is right in the name. Unlike traditional care agencies, Seniors Helping Seniors employs active seniors as caregivers to support their senior counterparts who need a helping hand. This peer-to-peer model fosters trust, relatability, and genuine connection through shared life experiences. For co-owner, Deanna Thach, a registered nurse with years of leadership experience, serving older adults has always been a calling. Aside from working on medical-surgical units and in triaging capacity, Deanna has found fulfillment in volunteering with various senior-related causes, including Alzheimer’s Disease research, nutrition information intake, and hospice. Through these experiences, she brings both professional expertise and heartfelt dedication to the business. Co-owner, Jeffrey Macapinlac, has a wealth of experience in the medical device industry delivering world-class customer experience with a focus on continuous improvement. He’s also excited to exercise his background in creative multimedia (DJ/MC/Photography/Videography) to put others in their best light and positively move the community. The natural passion is also deeply personal. Jeffrey’s mother, after being laid off late in her career, found a meaningful second chapter as a caregiver. That opportunity not only gave her purposeful work but allowed her to retire with dignity and joy—a testament to the power of this model. As parents raising three young children, Jeffrey and Deanna are excited to invest in the community, creating opportunities for both seniors who need care and those seeking flexible, rewarding employment.

"My mom has people from Care Plus Provider. We hired them immediately after I contacted Caring.com, and we heard from them like the next day. Our experience with them has been good. We like them. We had never hired caregivers before, so we are learning a lot. My mom is not the easiest person to get along with, but it is going well. I think Jean helps me and is very responsive. They're very kind to me about everything that is going on. They have been flexible with us about the scheduling as much as possible, and in trying to figure out how much care my parents really need. They're very communicative with me about it and with what works and what doesn't. They bill us every two weeks, which is easy for my dad to keep track of, so that has been fine. They're very good."

"Qualicare is a home care provider agency. I had Qualicare helped me with providing a caregiver to help me with different needs that I had because I am handicap and needed a caregiver to help me in my home. I have tried about 4 different agencies to help me but Qualicare was by far the best so I stayed with this agency until I moved last week. Shona who is the president of Qualicare was great and her staff that helped her was also very good. What made Qualicare the best is that this agency really care about what kind of caregiver that Would fit the personality of the customer and whether or not the caregiver could provide what the customer needed. At the beginning of our relationship, an RN came and spent several hours assessing what the needs of the customer were and assessing the type of personality of the customer. Then they would find a caregiver from their staff to fit this Customer. In the beginning, the RN would check frequently of how it was working out for the customer and the caregiver. The last caregiver I had, matched me perfectly. She knew exactly what I needed and she provided everything I needed. If I asked her to do something for me, she would always “ok”. and it was done. She never said say “no”. She was very pleasant @nd she fitted my personality and she took care of my needs daily. I couldn’t ask for more."

Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Tracy:
