"I looked at quite a few other places, and to be honest, the ones that I looked at were all very nice. The Summerfield Memory Care of Stockton was just as nice as any I'd seen but I kind of like the layout of it a little better than the larger places I'd seen. It's a little homier and intimate. Now that my wife's been there for not quite two weeks yet, the care that she's getting, I think, is outstanding. The people are very good, very professional, very caring, and patient. I'm very satisfied with where she is. She said she likes the food and it does look very good. I think they're all horrendously expensive but for what she gets, I guess it's reasonable and I'm very happy with them."

"I visited, and I actually liked it. I would have chosen it if the other facility had not come up. The big problem is the rooms were tiny. I wouldn't have been able to get much of dad's furniture in there. They might have larger rooms, but they didn't have any single rooms. They only have what I would call a split room. You walk into a short hallway and then there were rooms that were split off that were not private from each other. The rooms were really tiny that I couldn't get a bed and one dresser in there. It would be tough to get a chair in there as well. The rooms were rather small, but the common areas were gorgeous. The dining area is very pretty. The staff was very nice and seemed very competent. We had some discussion of my dad's needs, and they seem very knowledgeable. They understood Alzheimer's and all the issues, and I think the staff would have been just fine. When I was there, they had someone in the common area, a lot of people were there, and they were singing songs and doing stuff. The one thing that really stood out positively is that it is a very pretty facility with nice, homey common areas. If you left your room and wanted to go and sit somewhere and read, there were nice places to do that. The staff seemed competent, and they really knew what they were doing."

"It is a beautiful facitilty. My grandmother lives in a 1 bedroom "apartment" located at the Commons. She has her own porch and was able to bring some of her pots to continue with her love for gardening. Also, she is able to socialize with other residents on a daily basis. "

"My parents moved into Astoria Senior Living - Oakdale a few days ago. The grounds are beautiful. There are lots of shade trees and places outside to sit. We've only been there four or five days, but so far we love it. The staff was amazing. They try to get everyone involved. They're there to answer any of your questions. The nurses are very attentive. The dining area is set up like a little restaurant. It's very cute. My mom has enjoyed the food. My dad has to have a pureed diet, so he doesn't like anything. For activities, they offer three or four things a day. They have bingo. They have an exercise class. Yesterday, they had sundaes with their families. They invited families to come. They have like an afternoon matinee. Sometimes they take the bus and go out to breakfast, or on little field trips."

"I think Oakmont of Lodi was a beautiful spot so I put a deposit of $2,500 down there initially, which I still have yet to receive back. My mom though, when we were there, seemed very distracted by all of the noise because they had those high ceilings. It just appeared as though it wasn't suitable for her. It's beautiful, they have wonderful food, they have a lot of great activities, and they have all these great things. It was just too overwhelming for her. I just felt she needed to be in a more down-to-earth place. Bells and whistles are great and activities are great, but they can be distracting and uncomfortable for some people."

"Brookdale Kettleman Lane had assisted living and memory care. The rooms were small, but they were fine, clean and thought out well. The staff that I met there seemed nice. I also saw their dining room."

"My mother-in-law has moved into Cogir of Turlock. Location is one of the main reasons why we chose them. The whole family lives in Turlock. And it's very, very nice. She has always wanted to go there if she had to, so we kind of kept that in mind. She loves it there. She feels like a queen, she said. The rooms are very nice and up-to-date. Everything is updated. She loves the food so far. She says it's great. The staff has been more than helpful. They're awesome. The way it is run, so far, so good. My sister-in-law has tried the food, and they said it's great. They've eaten there twice. My mother-in-law has participated in activities. They have made Mother's Day crowns for them for Mother's Day. They do a bus tour on Wednesdays, but she hasn't done that yet. She's trying to get acclimated. I think they're a little expensive, but that is what the going rate is. None of them were more than the others."

"I looked at Westmont of Brentwood. It’s assisted living and a memory care unit also. The facilities were very nice. My dad has a dog, but he wouldn’t be able to bring it to that place. I think they allow a really little dog, but my dad has a small lab. It was a very nice facility, but my dad is not ready for that yet. I think it would be a 4 if I were looking for that type of care. "

"Bethany Home is the place that I would want to put my mom. I know people that work there, and one of my good friend’s mother was there, so I know that it is a good place. It is well maintained and very clean with lots of caring people working there. It is just a really nice place. "

"My father has moved into Golden Haven. They have a barber and a masseuse for massage therapy. Depending on your insurance, doctors could visit there, which is a big plus. The place is pretty big. Also, the director is really on top of things, which is a big plus. I know my dad liked the food, so that's a good thing. They have dancing, and they have different things there within the facility. They have a garden in the back."

"My Mom has been there about 30 days. She has been so different...in a good way. She has bonded with other residents and is actually way happier than when she was aloe at home. The place is spotless and always smells fresh no matter what time I go in there. It was so cute when I went to visit and they have a tree decorated with flip flops that the residents decorated showing summer is here. Too cute !!! Karen the Manager, was instrumental with helping us get VA benefits for our Mom, she took us through each step and now she is covered for her rent. We couldn't be more happier. Mary "

"I placed my wife at El Rio Memory Care, and so far, she seems to like it. It’s very clean, and they keep it up very nice. It’s a brand-new facility, the staff seemed to be very polite, they wanted to help, and they have all nice people there. The food could improve, it’s good, but not wow, or anything. They have an outdoor sitting area, and they have several different living spaces."
