We have no complaints at all about the company or people who come to take care of our mother. They have all been kind, caring, and attentive to my mom's ever changing needs that go along with her dementia. They have been with us and for us every step of the way. I would recommend them to anyone.

The caregivers have been here for two months now. They are a welcomed addition to our family. They have served dad well. They are attentive, kind, and gentle. Several are persuasive and able to get dad to do things he thought he couldn't do white respecting his dignity.

We chose Home Instead Senior Care for my mother-in-law. The caregivers are very good and very professional. They are also on time and do an excellent job. Their billings are worked out very nicely. The guy who did the paperwork was extremely good.

My friend is using Home Instead. This is the third caregiver from them because the first two did not work out. This is the only service we've had; I've never tried another company. My friend called and told them she was not happy with the person. About a week later, they sent another person, and she's been fine. She does mostly cleaning, and I think she's more focused, thorough, and friendly. I think their service is satisfactory.

I give them an A+. My girl Daisy knows what I need and gets everything done. I don't see well and she sees the things that I can't see and takes care of them. The girls in the office are king and let me know right away if there is a schedule change.

Caregiver Melody is so sweet and even though she can't cook as well as some of them she tries hard. She is a very special person. I do not want to trade her for a better cook. When she comes in she always gives her a hug and calls her Ms. Jeanne. Client would recommend her to anyone.

We chose Home Instead Senior Care because we got a lot of recommendations from people that really liked them. They were excellent, very professional and they did a good job. They had all kinds of people willing to work and all the aides were great. They had round the clock care for a while after my father got out of the nursing home. My dad needed medical care as much as anything and needed somebody to help him get bathe and dressed and all that, so that was probably where they did the most work. They informed us when my parents told them they didn't want to have help any more. I will definitely use them again if my parents would allow it.

Of all the many decisions I had to make during the last few months of my Mother's life-the easiest and by far, the best decision was to employ Home Instead Senior Care.
I found their staff to be supportive, professional, and very caring.
They provided me and my Mother great peace-of-mind, even when she was hospitalized. Nursing staff just do not have the time to care for a patient the way the Home Instead Staff did. As an example, her daytime caregiver made sure that her position was changed every two hours. She urged the other caregivers to do the same.
Fortunately we had the resources available to fund this extra care. It is very expensive but I believe we received every pennies worth!
Don't hesitate to contact them-so willing to help-gave me
regular updates on my Mothers condition and changes. Quickly responded when we found a caregiver that was not acceptable-within an hour we had a new worker.
These people care and can offer you that needed time to take care of yourself too.

This March I needed someone to sit with my sister who is suffering from dementia. I called Home Instead and talked to their Client Relations Mgr. Carmen. She met with my family and me promptly and was able to get sitters for my sister within an hour after our meeting. The sitters were well trained in how to deal with dementia patients and provided us with worry-free service My family has used Home Instead previously and will continue to do so.

Home Instead provided care for my husband for several days when he came home from the hospital after a fall. The majority of caregivers connected with and took good care of him, which enabled me to rest and enjoy his company. When he passed away, the caregiver still came and spent most of the day with us. Her assistance was invaluable during that difficult day. Though we did not care for every one of the caregivers, we had a few wonderful people who helped us through a challenging time.

Our caregivers Carletta B., Sonia T. and Linda A. could not have been more loving, expert and conscientious. Carletta in particular, became like family and we trusted her implicitly.
We were not as comfortable with some of the weekend, fill-in staff, however. If you are engaging the services of Home Instead, see if they can commit to a few regularly scheduled caregivers rather than an endless carousel of new faces.

Home Instead was recommended to me when I was seeking in home care for a friend of mine. I was so impressed with their responsive ,professional service that I have used them several more times to care for my sister, great aunt and most recently for myself after orthopedic surgery. I feel as if I am calling a family member on whom I can rely. They always inform me of the caregivers names and hours of service in advance, and, if the match up of caregiver and client is not working out, they are only to happy to make a change. They are my "go to" coverage for all in home care. I really can't recommend highly enough. Every community should be lucky enough to have a Home Instead.

Recently my 96 year old mother fell and broke her ankle requiring 24 hour assistance until she could be moved to the nursing home section of The Nazareth Home. The home recommended Home Instead. We made contact with the office and someone meet with us within half and hour and had a caregiver in place within the following half hour. They provided caregivers in 12 hour shifts, and although they could not provide the same individuals for the shifts everyone they sent provided good care and two of the women were outstanding. We only required the service for 4 1/2 days. We were. Rey pleased with the level of care and concern the care givers provided and would not hesitate to recommended them to others and if we ever needed the service again we will not hesitate to call Home Instead.

Recently, my mother passed away with uterine cancer, but without the help of Home Instead Senior Care, I don't know how we would have made it. Because they were there for her around the clock, my sister and I were able to get some much needed rest at night knowing that she was being well cared for. A time like that is very draining emotionally as well as physically, but because of their services, we were more equipped and able to handle the grief that comes with such a loss. The care, love and attention to her physical needs as well as spiritual needs was priceless. We are so thankful for this wonderful group of caring people.

During the last few weeks of my Dad's life, Home Instead caregivers were a Godsend. Two caregivers of note were Louis and Barcari (sp?) Louis spent the entire time he was with Dad talking, watching Westerns and just being a friend. Baqauri also was outstanding. As Dad's pain spread throughout his body, his legs became increasingly painful. Baquari took the time to give Dad what he called "The best leg rub I've ever had!" I cannot say enough about how much Home Instead was a blessing to Dad.

We have had 3 caregivers for my husband, who is unable to provide care for himself, and I can't help him either. They have been helpful, and always did whatever we requested, from taking him to the doctor to providing personal care, and meal preparation. I don't see how he could get any better care.

When my mother got sick and was unable to stay by herself all day, Home Instead was the perfect solution. They came out to the house immediately to do a care assessment and then sent someone out right away. The caregivers did cleaning, cooking, laundry, and ran errands and took my mother to doctors appointments. All the things she could no longer do for herself. I live out of town and it was so reassuring to know that someone was there with my mother. They were very easy to work with. I would highly recommend Home Instead.

we have used this agency for past 6+ years. in the beginning the care was top notch.
over past 2 years the service has gone down hill completely.
the people they send to care for my FIL are not only not trained properly, they do not think of safety for the patient.
we are choosing to take our business else where as the attitude in the office has been horrific when we've called to attempt to correct problems.
our latest go the gal left the house as soon as we walked back in. NOT ACCEPTABLE by any means.

I used another local agency to provide care for her but became very frustrated when they kept cancelling and were constantly late. Home Instead has provided consistent care with a wonderful provider. I had a great experience with my service. I had major back surgery. We needed someone when I came home in the afternoon because my husband had to go to work. My care giver was excelent. Her name was Domesha. She helped me with light housekeeping,laundry, bathing,washing my hair and watering my plants. She was a pleasure to be around. I would highly recommend this service.

Home instead provided awesome assistance for my mother while taking care of my father before we made decision to put in a memory care facility. They also provided care periodically to him at 2 different facility's . They always made phone calls before and after their services . I used Home Instead for my aunt for about six months. She is now in a nursing home or we would still be using them. They are very caring. They were there 5 days a week to care for her and when she was in the hospital prior to going to the nursing home, they visited her and called to check on her as well. It really is personal to Home Instead.

I recently had an overnight emergency with my dad. One phone call to Home Instead fixed my problem. Everyone I talked to was great, they walked me through everything clearly and promptly and gave me information I didn't think to ask for. I cannot praise Home Instead's services enough. We initially engaged another company and were very disappointed. We subsequently contacted Home Instead with some trepidation, but our fears were unfounded. The "sitters" were engaging, helping the CNAs with my father's care around the clock. It quickly became obvious the staff did not simply sit and watch my father. The on-line portal allowed us to see who was with my father currently and who was scheduled, complete with picture so we knew who should be there with him. Even when my father was transferred to a nursing home and the services were no longer required, Home Instead actually contacted nursing homes near my mother to help us make a well-informed decision.

I needed assistance in caring for my husband who had progressive MS. We were blessed to have three excellent caregivers from Home Instead: Teresa Capito, Tamara Puckett, and Nancy Collins. These ladies provided competent and loving care for him and quickly became important members of the family. He recently passed away, but I will be forever grateful to the Home Instead team for helping us get through that last year without the need for a nursing home. It gives me great comfort to know he was able to stay in the comfort of our home until the end. I highly recommend the caregivers at Home Instead.

Sylvia who worked very hard at our house was wonderful. A true life saver and deserves a raise! No matter what I needed done, she did it and more, never stopped working the whole time. Seemed to understand my ups and down moods due to my MS and Bipolar problems. she was always kind to me. Never lost patience, even when I couldn't get my words out of my mouth, she always seemed to know what I wanted done even when I had trouble telling her. A+ for service. My house was always so very clean when she left the door and my laundry done. It was nice the floors so clean. I really miss Sylvia!

My caregiver was very helpful with everything I asked for and even thought of other helpful things I hadn't thought of! She was very calming to both my mom and me, which really helped lessen the overall stress level. She said that I could request her for the next visit, which I will do!

My wife’s physical condition as well as the onset of dementia got to the point to where I had to have help to get her up and dressed for the day. I needed someone to help with her meals and other minor duties. I acquired the daytime help from a caregiving group who did a great job providing what I needed. However, as her condition progressed, I needed someone late at night also to get her ready for and into bed. We called upon Home Instead, as we needed someone from 10:00pm until 11:00pm. They sent a caregiver named Stacy who more than filled the bill for our needs. Stacy was not only capable of what was asked of her, but she was always very happy, bubbly and just pleasant to have around. My wife always felt completely safe with Stacy assisting her and I couldn’t have asked for better help.

We have a caregiver coming in three times a week from Home Instead, and they’re doing fine. The only thing I did have trouble with was they switched caregivers on me. They didn’t notify me that they were sending another person, and I didn’t know it until she got here; they should have called me. She helps my wife with bathing and dressing, they use coloring books and do jigsaw puzzles, and she helps with whatever my wife needs.

We started with Home Instead for my mother's care. We loved everything about them, and they are very good. We were very pleased with them but we wanted a service that would take my mother and her friends to different locations. Their company policy didn't allow them to do that. Their policy was to drive only the clients. What I think is great about them is they try to match the senior to a caregiver with similar interests. I especially liked that aspect. Beside the issue with driving rule, we would have stayed with them.

I was a client of Home Instead for nearly 2 years. We had continual issues with staffing (turnover of caregivers, uncovered shifts, last minute staffing, poor customer service, etc..) and the management of this company does not seem to have their arms around the issues clients are experiencing.
We had to tell the agency not to send numerous caregivers that were inattentive and only interested in being on their phones. I feel badly for people who don't get a chance to monitor what goes on with their loved ones, You cannot assume that, just because an agency is licensed, they are providing adequate care.
Attempts to rectify issues through staffing, case management (high turnover and rarely ever saw) and even the owner of the company were unsuccessful.
The only reason they have 2 stars from me is that we had a couple of really good caregivers (after much effort on our part) that we were sad to part ways with when we changed agencies.

I give them 5 stars but if I could give them 10 I would. We had other agencies come in for my boyfriend's Mom and although the caregivers were good there were problems that were frustrating. I would recommend H.I. to anyone. They are amazing, all of them. They are there everyday, even on a day when it snowed in Virginia Beach and we certainly did not expect that. They go above and beyond. They leave everything spotless in the house (I did not ask for any housekeeping) they tidy up her bathroom and the dishes that they use. They put her laundry in the hamper or wash it sometimes. It can be a challenge and they keep her clean as well as her clothes and linens. They communicate any problems and read the notes we leave for them. We always know what is going on (if she refuses care, doesnt want to eat ect.) They all go the extra mile.I am a nurse myself (I do not and never have worked for Home Instead) and will recommend them to my clients and their families. People should know how good these people are so here is my review. I always keep in mind that I am not perfect and I do not expect perfection but Home Instead is pretty close.

I enlisted the services of Home Instead Virginia Beach and remained home from work on o e occasion yet, no aide showed up. I called the office and asked when the aide arrived at my residence and was given two different times. The office manager wasn't aware I was standing in my kitchen when I called and there was no aide at my house.
I also arrived home to find my Mother sitting in 9 hours of her own excrement. The aide admitted her actions to the Commonwealth. My Mother passed away shortly after discontinuing the services of Home Instead. Given these circumstances, I'm of the opinion that the care my Mother received was inadequate/improper.

Top, Top Kudos and Praise for Home Instead Senior Care, Virginia Beach. My family spoke with and hired Home Instead based on a family friend’s recommendation. We needed help with our 89-year old parents who still live in their own home. For over 2 years one lovely, extremely competent and compassionate woman has helped our parents in the afternoons for several times a week. My parents LOVE her. We LOVE her. We have claimed her as our sister! She is beyond what any of us hoped for. She anticipates what they need need. She is gentle, loving and super competent. Both of my parents cannot say enough about her.
In August 2015, our parents - still wanting to remain in their house - asked for more help. We called Home Instead and spoke with the manager, about getting more help. She magically arranged a morning shift and an afternoon shift 7 days a week. It was effective the next morning! Two more fantastic support arrived and we have been incredibly impressed with these two women. We cannot say enough about their intelligence, skill, caring hearts, helpfulness and so much more.
It has been such a relief to be able to secure such caliber skilled workers from our parents. They deserve the best and nothing less than excellent would do for us. We got excellent care! They have assisted with meals, bathing, walking, laundry, shopping, doctor’s appointments and more.
Because of the 3 caregivers, our parents can remain in their beloved home and we have peace of mind that they are indeed very well cared for.

I am continually struck by the professionalism, high level of caring and exemplary caregivers that I have met from Home Instead. My mom has dementia and is very frail, and she could not live by herself in Assisted Living. Her daytime caregiver Linda is a perfect match for her, and her other caregivers, such as Michelle, Emily and Stacy, just to name a few, are awesome. My mom couldn't live without them, and neither could I.

I just want to take this moment to express our family's gratitude to Sherry from Home Instead for her selfless care and positive energy. She visits once a week to help with the bath of the client. Then, she helps out with cleaning, organizing, walking the dog and whatever we need that particular week. She is always happy to see us. Our 88-year-old with alzheimer's is always happy to see her too. She has made a true friend and has become an invaluable part of our lives in a few short weeks. Thank you Sherry!

WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SAME HOME ASSISTANCE FOR THE COMPLETE TIME -THE ONES THAT REPLACE THEM FOR A DAY OR TWO SHOULD GET IN CONTACT AND UPDATE THEM WITH SOME OF THE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE A CERTAIN WAY TO PREVENT INJURY TO THE CLIENT. THAT IS THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING WAS A 5 STAR.

We needed a companion for my wife who has some health issues. We chose Home Instead to provide this service. We have a wonderful caregiver whom my wife took to from the first day she came to us. She is wonderful with my wife and never gets frustrated with a sometimes demanding elder. Home Instead is very flexible and when I had to go out of town, they were able to provide caregivers for 24/7 companionship for my wife. We are extremely satisfied with Home Instead and their employees.

My sister-in-law was a cancer patient and the Home Instead caretakers were very caring, professional and kind and helped my sister-in-law maintained dignity. We were very pleased with the caregiver of Home Instead. There was a little communication problem initially in getting things set up. We were told they were going to start out on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but they didn’t have it on the schedule after I was assured that was taken care of. People were supposed to call me back, and they didn’t. Finally, I got a hold of the lady, who I initially had talked to at our home, and she told me that somebody was going to be here on Monday after Thanksgiving, which she did. Then we really liked the caregiver, and we’d have her come back again if we could. We just had some communication bumps in getting started with them.

It was a little frustrating that my husband had to go with four different caregivers, but the office dealt with the issues pretty well, and I am pleased with his current caregiver. I would be more likely to recommend Home Instead Senior Care if they would have more availability when I need them on an as needed basis, if they would have more communication with me when I call in with a problem, and if they would have more communication between departments. The services have definitely made me more independent, and I definitely would have gone into a nursing home without Home Instead Senior Care.

We get along fine- though sometimes I think the caregiver is sticking too much to her rules especially running dishwashes. She says 1x week is the rule- When I say only a few dishes, cut leg (which she handwashes on her 3 mornings a week) means too much.

My mom was a client of Home Instead for over 3 years. When Tracy first met with my mom, she promised to match her with the perfect caregiver and she did. Her caregiver, Deborah S., was amazing. As mom aged and her dementia worsened, Deborah was always kind, compassionate, and ever watchful. Many times she provided me with valuable info to help me in the care of mom. But most importantly she was a friend and companion to mom, helping her to stay in her home as long as possible.

Caregivers from Home Instead, Washington, NJ (#325) have been visiting with our mother on a regular basis for a few years now. Mom is 92 years old. The Caregivers are wonderful. They handle many chores such as making sure Mom takes her meds, helping her with meals, and driving her to appointments as well as food shopping and visiting her friends. We are very pleased that Mom has been able to continue to live in her home as she ages. Thank you to the very caring people from Home Instead.

The service this group provides for my 93 years old grandmother is 5 star. Kind, devoted, trusted, are only some words to describe the health team. My grandmother cannot wait until "her girls" come and visit. They work hard giving her bathes and doing her house work. Most of all, they visit her. Home Instead is highly recommended!

Our outstanding experience with Home Instead began with Tracy's initial consultation. From that point on, the office staff worked tirelessly to provide CHHAs to help us out. Home Instead provides companion care once a week to my 92 year old mother-in-law. They are resposive and detail-oriented. My mother-in-law was resistant at first to having a "stranger" around, but she is now thrilled to have her caregiver. She even tells us how wonderful her caregiver everytime she leaves.

Many thanks to each of you for the care and kindness extended to mom and to me these past five months. I could not have managed without you all doing a share of taking my place caring for my mother during the circumstances that developed with my brothers passing in early March and mom's condition. Tracy, I sincerely appreciate with such short notice the caregivers that came for my husband. Although they were only here for a couple of weeks it was such a help to me. From the time she was 96 years old until she was 99 3/4 years old, my mother had three caregivers from Home Instead. Donna was a great cook and a meticulous cleaner while Consuelo was in-charge of doing the wash and helping mom look great each day. Marguerite was the entertainer, playing games and sharing books and travels. Mom couldn't have asked for three kinder, more efficient, and more compassionate girls. When she 100 years old, all the three girls came to her birthday party. Mom raved about that for weeks.

I was very pleased with the Home Instead in-home care-taking experience. Trudy immediately recognized our concerns and my 92-year old mother's needs. She made superb placements in Consuelo and Donna, two very different individuals, who were able to establish an immediate connection to mom. Both women were well-trained and very professional. They were responsive to mom and our family. The office staff was also very responsive to my calls, every time there's need for additional coverage. I highly recommend this organization. TOP NOTCH!

We contacted Home Instead for a non-skilled aide to help with my father who is mobility and speech impaired. The in-take process was very thorough and professional as was the introduction to the care givers. I found the care gives to be very responsive, prompt and attentive. The second time we used Home Instead for weekend care we have a very different experience. When the caregiver who was supposed to come at 10:00 PM called in sick there was no substitute available. Home Instead could not provide any care in this situation. We were totally left high and dry without care. This was a particular problem given that we were scheduled to leave at 6AM the next morning for an out of town family visit. This was the worst service ever. I would never, ever suggest this service to anyone else. The whole point of hiring a service is to provide back up. This was a miserable failure on the part of Home Instead.

i used Home Instead for a month when my mom was discharged from Rehab. I told them my main concern was care giver consistently and I was introduced to two caregivers. I picked one whom my mom preferred and she was with us everyday. I had the same caregiver everyday and my mom looked forward to her caregiver coming. I unfortunately had to put my mom in a nursing home and cancel Home Instead and they understood. I am so thankful for the last month I got to have my mom home with me because of Home Instead. I recommend them and display their brochures at our office. Thank you Maria and Nicole!

Home Instead's logo includes a small phrase, “to us it’s personal”. One might think that is something to catch attention and may not really believe this is the case. My experience with Home Instead has proven that this phrase couldn’t be more accurate.
Home Instead has taken care of Jo, my mother for several years, who is now 97 years old. Unfortunately she has reached the point where she needs 24/7 care and has been moved to a nursing facility. All of the caregivers from Home Instead have gone above and beyond the call of duty, even stopping to visit her on their own time as well as communicating with me to keep me informed of her activity. Since I live in Texas, this service and caring attitude has been a tremendous service and helped with my peace of mind.
Eileen F., Client Care Manager is an example of the phrase. “to us it’s personal”. She has rushed out to my mom in emergency situations just from the good of her heart. She has been so greatly helpful and kind to my mom as well as toward me.
My mother’s latest primary Home Instead caregiver, Lyn, is simply a gem… an angel in disguise. She is not only genuinely caring, she has put her mind to what was the best way to care for my mother’s needs. As we increased needed hours for my mother, Patricia H, a past caregiver of hers came on board again, displaying incredible compassion for my mom. Olivia and Flonnie recently began caring for her as well… again, displaying sincere, mindful caring.

My 90 year old Mom lives with us, and has reached the stage of life where she can no longer fix a meal for herself if we are not home. She uses a walker and can be left by herself for several hours, but not days, and she does a lot of sleeping. We use Home Instead to senior-sit and prepare a meal for her every other week so we can get out for "date night". They have been a Godsend and we have never had any complaints. They are prompt, courteous, kind and helpful, and do an excellent job.

Home Instead, located in Dartmouth MA, is an excellent service that provides in-home care for my father.
He is 94, lives alone and is very independent.
The Care Providers from Home Instead allow him to remain independent while helping with daily chores.
They are very flexible and work out a schedule that meets your needs as well as responding promptly when needed at the last minute.
They truly care and do a wonderful job.

Home Instead has been a lifesaver. At the beginning it was morning care at our parents home for 6 months. They were always dependable and caring. This was such a change for our parents. They were reluctant to have strangers in there home. Everyone had a way of comforting them and helping them except the help .Home Instead has a way of matching the right staff with the clients. Our parents decided to move to assisted living because there home was getting older and needed repairs. Home Instead continued hours with them for extra help. (Showers, etc.) We have also hired Home Instead for my husbands parents who plan on remaining in there home but need 24 hr, care. Again the staff is so helpful, caring, and has allowed them to remain in there home with safety. Safety has been such a concern as our parents have aged. This company has well trained staff in all areas of health care. We are 2 very large families and all agree that Home Instead is the company to hire.

I've worked with this agency before. This is the only agency in my area. They were very accommodating and friendly. I think we got their service for 2 weeks during daytime. They provided companionship and assistance around the house. However, we were a little frustrated because it was clear from the start that we don't want a smoker. They sent us a smoker because she lived near my mother. But she was very good. We didn't switched caregiver because my mom was getting better that time. We would definitely consider using them again in the future. I will also recommend this agency to others in my area.

On one occasion I was tremendously irked for lack of requested service in that I called HI to ask that Allen be contacted to see if he could come to work an hour earlier due to change in my needs. I called and talked with Andrew, asked him to call Allen and if he could not reach Allen to call me back so I could make other arrangements. The call never got to Allen nor to me.
Allen reported this to Andrew and Andrew said it was written down but nobody followed through.

The services that Home Instead offers fits perfectly with the needs of my parents. Our caregiver is Bob and he is wonderful! He is always on time and in a great mood with a huge smile. I love the way he greets my parents and is so respectful. He is very patient and kind. I like having an extra "set of eyes" as he may notice something that I missed. He communicates well with me and leaves good info in the log book. Bob comes to my parents' home twice a week and helps with personal care for my father.

We were very pleased with the service provided by Home Instead. They treated my Dad with dignity and compassion. They involved him in the process at the beginning and kept him informed along the way. All the caregivers assigned to him were competent, friendly and caring. Very shortly, my Dad began looking forward to the arrival on more than one occassion. My Dad's caregiver, Marilyn found Dad crying "HELP" but she couldn't get in the house. I was out of touch so she called 911-they entered thru the bedroom window and took Dad to the hospital. My family LOVED working with Home Instead. The first time I ever called Home Instead to inquire about in-home care for my parents, I actually spoke with the director who was able to explain what is covered and not covered by Medicare. He also pointed me in the direction we needed to look for assistance. I found the organization as a whole extremely resourceful. The caregivers assigned to my parents took excellent care of my parents, especially my dad who had Parkinson's disease. My siblings and I felt at ease knowing that each Home Instead caregiver would treat our parents with gentleness and dignity. We have a person from Home Instead coming in one day a week, and so far we have had a good experience. The owner came and talked to us; we were impressed. This is all we need right now. She gives my mother-in-law a bath, washes her hair, does some vacuuming, and dusts. She makes sure that she is on schedule with her medication, but she is here for 3 hours, so she does not really do too much of that.

I live by myself and I enjoy my privacy. However, I needed competent, reliable transportation for a medical procedure. Home Instead provided that service at a very reasonable price. I am thoroughly impressed with my experience. I plan to use their service again this spring.

There are some of the people who are more outgoing than others and really get into the job and try to relate to the person they are attending to. They were just there for me. It was assuring that someone would be there if anything happened.

Since I had an injury, there's many things I can't do, like light house cleaning. They do things I can no longer do and get work done. I am glad that they are so pleasant.
There's a difference between the office and the people who come in. The caregivers are great. The office could improve in communication.

It has taken a lot of pressure off of me because he can be rather difficult to deal with at times.

They should have been allowed to do what we wanted them to do. When they vacuumed they weren't allowed to move things and they weren't allowed to move things themselves when they dusted. I had to move it all myself.
They can't do what they want them to do. They're not allowed to.

Because of the one gentleman, he is very professional and a good talker and good with my husband.
The caregiver is excellent. The office staff is hard to reach and I have had trouble getting someone out. They might cancel.

Everything they do makes my life easier. If I need to go to the store, they go out of their way to take me. If I cannot go, then they go for me. I can trust them with my food stamp card or my money. I trust them, have no worries.

The caregivers that I had were nasty to me. I had one aide that scrubbed me like I was a piece of sandpaper. The other aide that I liked got in trouble because they picked me up before she was supposed to get me for that day. With one aide, it was excellent, but the way that they fired my aide was unacceptable. It was not fair that they fired her.

You can end up with 6 or 7 caregivers in a week. That can be detrimental to someone who has an immune problem.
They really don't treat their clients very well. Certain people in the office don't communicate with each other. They are very rude to clients when they call about problems that need to be solved. They don't honor the way that clients want their care to be structured. It is just about who can fill the slot.

The lady that comes goes to the store and mops around the fridge. She cleans the bathroom and changes the bed. I have a problem with the Wednesday caregiver. I ask her to change the linens, but she refuses to unless they're soiled. She doesn't clean the bathroom, either.

We have been with HomeInstead for about a year. My 92 year old Dad lives with us, and we have caregiver shifts covered for him 3 hours every morning. They provide Companion and Home Helper Services as my Dad walks with and without a cane, independently cares for most of his personal needs, and is in relatively good physical health, He has dementia and balance problems and every day is different; communication can be a challenge since he denies having any memory loss. His caregivers give us a break from each other, keep him safe, help him with exercises, and take him out for outings and errands if he wishes. He is so appreciative of having "friends" to do things with since he does not identify with other seniors, and he can shed his roles of Dad and grandpa and just be Tom. Every caregiver has been well trained and comfortable with his dementia and behaviors; all have been extremely reliable, conscientious, and his regular caregivers have become almost like family. The agency provides excellent back up when issues arise with my Dad, Coordinator Kelly regularly re-evaluates services, and the scheduling staff are always able to cover extra shifts, including 24 hour care, when requested. I am completely confident that in may absence dad will not only be safe and well taken care of, but that he will enjoy the caregivers, His regular caregivers genuinely enjoy him, they have truly enriched Dad's life and make it possible for us to continue to live together.

My mom is using Home Instead. They do a pretty good job. I liked the little extras they do like paint my mom's fingernails and all the other fun things they do for her and they give her someone to talk to.
Some of their employees though aren't just that reliable. But the company itself is really good at replacing someone if that person can't make it that day to care for my mom. It would be nice though to get the same person every week, but right now they have a schedule for 3 different people for 5 days a week and even then some of those people can't make it so they replace them.

Susan, Terry and Robyn have all been wonderful! We are completely happy with Robyn. I promised my wife we wouldn't put her in a facility, but she never got well enough to come home. We loved Home Instead while she was at home.

We are using Home instead. It seems OK. They are doing mostly housework and minimal personal care. I think they are very compassionate, very thoughtful, very caring, and very sensitive to the specific needs of the individual. They respect and maintain their independence where they want to be independent.

Home Instead Senior Care which we have had for both of my parent. They were present when my father passed away and I honestly have never seen more caring individuals in their careworkers. My mother who has aphasia and disabilities from a stroke has needed 24 hour care. What beautiful people we have encountered while using Home Instead, and quite honestly they have become like family. They go above and beyond in their care. They work with you to make sure you are provided with whatever needs you may have for a loved one. They have met any and all of our requests and if we needed to change something have done so almost immediately. They come out to the home to access what type of care is needed, spend time with the person that needs care and take the time to really listen to them, ease any concerns that they may have etc. The owner and his wife have a huge heart for the seniors and the care that they receive, and this also follows through with their entire staff. They made this transition for us very easy and lifted any reservations that we may have had. I would highly recommend Home Instead to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

I can't say enough good things about Home Instead. We used Home Instead for my sister who is quadriplegic. We were very nervous about leaving her alone in the hospital. As a geriatric professional who has used many agencies for my clients I choose Home Instead form my family. They were kind, compassionale and very professional. My 92 year old father had an emergency stay at the hospital and I needed immediate round-the-clock coverage for my mother (my parents live at home) and then both of them when my dad was released. Karen and her staff hit a home run by providing the care my parents needed with a team of A+ TLC care-givers. What a relief ... And what a blessing!

For nearly four years the care giving services provided by these two branches of Home Instead provided absolutely outstanding service for our mentally ill nephew who recently passed away. Both Mike of LaGrange and Gloria of Skokie were most loving and caring during each of their two to three per week visits and outings with Stephen. Mike was like a good big brother to him and Gloria like a loving mother. The administrative aspect of our experience was also consistently excellent with quick response times and crisp on target communication. My family and Mother always felt so safe when
one of their staff was in our home. The way they introduce new staff members to your home and loved one is truly unique and really should be the standard of how it's done in the industry. They always went out of their way to try to find the same caregiver again and again for our Mom. This made her feel very comfortable about having in-home care. She (Flora) built a great relation ship with my mom and even loved our pets, although she was allergic. We can't thank her and the other great caregivers enough for their great care and loving kindness.

Home Instead was receptive to my Father's needs and my own. The first contact I had with them by phone was very positive and helpful. They are patient with the family members, explaining everything that they do, and a staff member always brings a new caregiver to the home to introduce. My Dad had the same caregiver for the 8 months we used Home Instead and it made him feel very comfortable about having someone in his home. Home Instead was able to accommodate last minute changes to our schedule to make sure Dad was cared for. I can't thank Home Instead enough for making Dad's (and my) last months comfortable.

Everyone we encountered was so thorough! They tried to get to know as much as possible about my Dad and his situation. They were very amenable to sending different caregivers until we got the right fit. They were proactive about holiday coverage. They alerted me to situations that involved my Dad out of their own concern. The list goes on! And most recently: when we had an emergency need for overnight caregiving they found someone on the spot! And they continued to staff overnights until our emergency need was over some two weeks later. Karen was outstanding! She coordinated everything so professionally and communicated everything very well. In turn, the caregiver Novlette was amazing!!! She was SO patient with my father. She wrote very detailed reports on how things went. Honestly, Home Instead made some potentially difficult situations a breeze! I cannot say enough stellar things about them.

I am so thankful for the wonderful people at Home Instead Senior Care - Granville, OH, Our mother is 95yrs old and loves her caregivers. The peace of mind that our Mama is safe in her own home and is well taken care of, is priceless, The caregivers keep her entertained by everything from dancing to the sounds of Big Band music from the 40's to Mama helping to make banana bread. I had to use the emergency care line twice during the last 2 months when my husband suffered a heart attack and some after. uffects, I called after hours and explained my needs and I got emergency coverage for Mama quickly. I didn't need to worry because she was being taken care of and I could be there for my husband. It means alot that Mama is happy and gets the quality care that we expect and that she deserves. We really appreciate the office staff for their help and guidance in our trip down this difficult path. We will highly recommend to everyone.

The only caregiver sent was not only untrained for caregiving (she shared that her only experience was selling wheelchairs) but she needed the money so took a personal care position. She was with us for 2 weeks, after day 2 we knew she would not be a good match, my numerous calls to get a replacement were ignored. A person cannot do a good job if continually worried about getting water on themselves when giving a shower or helping a patient with their balance if they wear inappropriate clothing/shoes = highheeled boots,low cut/reviling tops, and fancy skirts.
One day my husband and I saw her washing dishes in water with food floating in - frankly it looked like the garbage disposal backed up
Since kitchen hygene is a major issue with us - we believe the looks on our face told her we would not want her back again. Since the office was closed we figured we'd wait until the next morning to call the case manager & give one last chance to change the caregiver to someone with professional knowledge/experience However to my surprise later that night, without so much as asking to hear our side of the events - which would have included our previous requests for a different caregiver - we were received a call informing us we were no longer able to receive services due to the caregiver's lies..Apparently she called Home Instead and told them we asked her to work directly for us. OMG the mere thought of her washing dishes in garbage turns our face green & turns our stomaches..
What a joke- we were NEVER giving a chance to explain what occurred from our standpoint, nor was she trained in caregiving nor dressed appropriately to perform her duties, nor remind the case manager that on day 3 we called & asked for a replacement - the fact she would not work out was completely obviously by day 2, yet we were dropped - although the company's written rules state a client will not be discriminated against for complaining (asking for another caregiver) yet that is just what happened. FYI - apparently only staff can contact the case manager after hours, thus our receiving a call at 9 pm that night from the case manager. Some much for non-discrimination or fair judgement. Their decision wasnt even based on their knowing the caregiver longer than us - unless the fact she started the day before she came to my home as sufficient time to make a character judgement?

Before my Father passed away, he was a client of Home Instead in Nevada City, CA.
My Father's wish was to remain in his home during his illness and to die at home. With the help of Home Instead we were able to fulfill his wishes. Since my Dad's wife was no longer capable of giving him competent care, Home Instead stepped in to provide competent and caring Caregivers on a 24 hour basis for the last two months of Dad's life.
I live in Seattle and could not be with my Dad on a daily or even routine basis, it was a blessing to have Home Instead provide Caregivers for my Dad.
For the last week of his life I was able to be with him in addition to having J. from Home Instead assist me with all his caregiving needs. J. was a Godsend. I could not have managed without her. She taught me how to care for his physical needs without causing him further pain. She showed me how to make him more comfortable. She was compassionate and caring and very understanding. I am so grateful that J. from Home Instead was there to help our family at this very difficult time.

My mom is not a good fit for a care home, so we have caregivers from Home Instead. The care and services that they are giving is outstanding. They meet every contingency. My mother has a number of issues because she is in a hospice care and suffering from ALS. Their ability to adapt to the changing situation is good because her decline has been pretty steady, and she has a number of medications that have to be applied that the hospice people measure out and the Home Instead people can actually give her. They have to give it according to instructions, which they follow. They cook for my mom and are very flexible with that because my mom’s ability to swallow has deteriorated, so they have gone from the semi-soft diet to a soft diet. It is hard taking care of my mom 24 hours a day. It is not an easy task at this point in time. Her ability to walk has deteriorated to the point where she almost has to be wheeled everywhere. It has been a rough go, but they have been outstanding, and they are very nice people. My mom likes them. There are two different ladies providing help at this point. It works out very nicely, but it is not cheap. The schedule and billing process is OK. They bill every two weeks, and we set it up so it can be taken out of a dedicated account.

I had a surgery and it required some help to get around. But the caregiver from Home Instead is stellar and absolutely fantastic. Mostly, she’s driving me around, getting me to my physical therapy, helping me with my physical therapy exercises, and making me food.

this branch does not have the skill set to care for individuals with the special needs of dementia, as they advertise. their inhouse trainer was at our home twice and knew nothing about lewy body dementia (the 2nd most common type of dementia after alzheimer's dementia). the branch owner also has no problem withing hanging up on you when you are expressing a concern he isn't interested in hearing or not honoring his part of the contract you sign with them. be kind to yourself and use an agency other than this one.

For almost 1 year I heard Gloria say how wonderful the Care Givers they sent were and how her and her brothers were so greatfull to have found a company that really cared. Overall, we have been very pleased with care I've received at Home Instead Elk Grove, IL. We've had just a few hiccups along the way, but the staff has been very good in working to solve issues/concerns along the way. Kelly -- the owner -- has been a good problem solver and responds quickly to issues/concerns. Our wonderful caregiver -- Maria -- has been with us for a year now and is terrific, kind, and compassionate. Special kudos to Cheryl -- our former caregiver -- who now works in the office. It was getting so difficult to keep my Mom safe at home. I would worry every time she did not answer the phone and I spent a good deal of time running back and forth to her house to check on her. She was also starting to fall frequently doing normal every day tasks she used to do with ease and no one was there with her. She has a medical alert necklace but won't push it because she doesn't want to bother the paramedics! As a nurse for over 30 years, I looked into all options available for us and I chose Home Instead Elk Grove Village. That was over 2 years ago and it has been the best thing for the entire family. The caregivers is great with mom. My mom was resistant to have anyone in her house but the people from Home Instead worked with us and now my Mom doesn't know what to do without her caregiver 3 hours a day. They cook meals, take her to the doctor's appointments
( which are increasing in frequency), light housekeeping, they provide company and so much more. I would never switch and the rates are very affordable. I recommend this company to anyone facing issues of aging parents who might need a little help but wont leave the house where they raised their family. Life got so much easier for my mom and all of us with Home Instead.

We originally talked to Gayle about caregiver services for my 102 year old grandmother. She came to the house, met my grandmother, and set up several caretakers to interview. The caretaker we have most often, Bonnie, is a blessing in disguise. She fits in perfectly in our crazy household, with 2 kids, a puppy, and my grandmother. Unfortunately, eventually we had to reduce the hours for care, but we still have Bonnie on Sundays. She gets along very well with my grandmother and we all look forward to her visits. Thank you to Alina for accommodating our frequent schedule changes. I highly recommend Home Instead Elk Grove. All the caretakers we had were very professional and caring.

It's difficult for seniors to accept the fact that they need extra help and care but this agency helped us find the right caregivers. They really listened to the needs of my father-in-law and found incredibly caring individuals to meet those needs. We began with requiring assistance for only a few hours twice a day and then increased the hours as the needs increased. Currently we have a 24 hr. live-in who is wonderful. All of our regular "helpers" have been great at communicating with our family. The previous morning and evening caregivers continue to call to inquire about my father-in-law and one even stops by to visit. They truly became part of our family. We were fortunate that this agency was able to accommodate us in finding a male caregiver for the mornings and later for our live-in request which other agencies were unable or unwilling to do. Our family is now relieved and satisfied and most importantly my father-in-law is happy and safe.

We started using Home Instead 4 years ago. My Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers. For anyone that has/had a family member battling this disease knows it can take an army. Well at least for my Dad. He was never the type of person to sit down and this disease wasn't going to stop him. As the disease progressed it was getting harder to keep him safe. Home Instead was recommended and what a Godsend. Kathy Carrico became my lifeline. I absolutel;y adore this lady. Kathy and Alina provided us with caregivers that fit at the right time of my Dad's disease. In the beginning it was a couple times a week for a couple hours. The caregivers provided kept him busy doing puzzles, going for walks, building bird houses, etc. The next step we requested a male caregiver that was strong and would help him up and down stairs, walking and showering. Jobi was so kind to my Dad, kept him safe and provided friendship. Jobi was a 24 hour caregiver at the end and was there with us when my father passed. He stayed with us through it all. Recently I had to call Home Instead again, this time for my Mother. She is sharp as a tack but is having trouble walking. We have started with a few days for a few hours and now are up to 5 days a week for 4 hours per day. My objective is for my Mom to be safe and happy. Mom is doing her errands, getting her hair or toes done and having someone there that will help her be active enjoying the things she likes to do. Home Instead has provided my Mom with the ability to enjoy life. She is starting to joke again, laugh and the time we spend together is more fulfilling. I have recommended Home Instead to others because I truly believe between Kathy, Alina and the caregivers, this team (that I have been blessed to have had on my side) is by far the most committed, caring, and truly dedicated to make a difference in the life of the senior and also to the family. They are angels on earth, which I will always be grateful.

My mother is 90 years old and suffering from Alzheimer's. Other than dementia she has no aches or pains and takes no medicine. We use Home Instead to provide company to my mom multiple days per week. The providers have been very nice and my mom had no trouble accepting them.
This provides some relief for me and my wife as we are the only family she has left. And it has allowed her to stay in familiar surroundings.

We've been using Home Instead Care Givers since 2012. Initially for my husband until he passed & then due to automobile accident I am unable to drive anymore. With their help I am still able to make Dr. Appointment, go shopping without placing undue pressure or beeding assistant from my family. I can always depend on Home Instead. In December of 2012, my mom had a fall and it started a four year decline. At the suggestion of a friend, I called Home Instead and we arranged for part-time assistance for my mom. We worked with Angie McCullough at Home Instead and we were very lucky. She immediately assigned a wonderful lady, Maria, to stay with my mom for a few hours on weekdays. She was with us for about 8 months. Then Beatrix joined us and she took over mom's care for about a year. After that, we needed more extensive care - nights and weekends. We started having 24 hour care for mom and Angie found us a wonderful group of caregivers who were with my mom for two years until she passed away last month. They were all professional and wonderfully loving and patient with her. The primary caregiver, Elyse, who lived with my mom 4 days a week, coordinated her care with the other caregivers (Ella, Ewa and Lati) so they were all always on the same page. She didn't hesitate to try new things to help my mom and she always kept her laughing. They made her last years filled with friendship and laughter. I cannot say enough. We were truly blessed

I depend on Home Instead in Elk Grove Village to help me take care of an elderly friend. With their daily help of Rise and shine and the nightly tuck in help, my friend is able to live in her own, familiar house with her beloved cat!
The office staff, as well as the home health aides are very caring and professional.

I used Home Instead Senior Care on and off for 2 years. The Caregivers they sent were professional, on time, good cooks, and nice companions. The Caregivers would clean for me, do laundry, drive me to appointments, cook meals, really, anything I asked they were happy to help. I have been very pleased with the quality of care and the high level of service my loved one has received from Home Instead. My loved one lives 900 miles away from me, so I cannot be readily available for minor problems. Increasing or extending services is always easily accomplished. The agency representatives keep in regular contact with my loved one and notify me if concerns or issues arise. My loved one has enjoyed the interaction with his caregivers and is very satisfied too.

Our caregiver, Debra, has a great sense of humor. She is not intrusive, never loud and is always on time. She treats my wife, who has dementia, with dignity. She takes her to the fitness center. Home Instead Senior Care of Port Orange, Florida, cared for my elderly parents for over 5 years. There were never any issues or concerns with their care. All of the employees were professional, compassionate, and patient. My parents felt well cared for, and the caregivers became "part of the family." Living in Indiana, it wasn't always easy for family to visit. The caring people from Home Instead provided peace of mind. This company deserves 5 stars!

Our granny sitter got a job at home at the last minute and we had to come up with a daytime granny sitter for a ten day trip we were taking. My sons friend recommended home instead and gave him the number for the coordinator. They made it happen. They came to the house to meet my mother in law twice. They took notes on what we told them her routine was it went swimmingly. They were great my mother in law was so happy with them as were we. We plan on looking into it when we go home so we can take a break. She is not really an invalid but she is petrified of being alone. She was at my sons and he was with her except while he was at work and the caretakers were there during the day to keep her company, make sure she ate and took the correct pills. Will definitely use them again. Great job on the recommendation Rhonda,coordinating it Pam, and watching her Anthony and Janelle. You are all GREAT!!!!! I'd give ten stars if they were available

There are constant changes in caregivers with this office. Multiple times they have had new or substitute caregivers show up in the morning and come into the house with my parent asleep without notifying anyone. That has been very disturbing to me and my parent as they wake up to see a stranger in their house. Part of their service is to provide meals, but they send caregivers that don't know how to cook and admit they do no screening to verify if their caregivers can cook. There is no education on normal dietary needs of older people, such as how to provide low sodium or diabetic meals. One caregiver did not even know what a carbohydrate was and was serving potato soup, potato salad, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, cornbread, etc at most every meal to a diabetic. Poor caregivers are just cycled on to someone else...maybe you. They do not ask you about making changes in caregivers or review potential caregivers with you to, they just make changes as they see fit, and state if you don't like them let us know and we will send someone else. Your loved one does not want a constant changing of people coming in to help them take baths, dress, and see them nude. Our loved ones, however fragile, still have some dignity. This office does not treat them that way. This office requires that payment for their bill be received 10 days after they mail it. Meaning, you have to write a check and get it back in the mail within 1 day, since a weekend will occur during that time. If two weekends are in that 10 day period you will have to drive to their office and take it to them for it to get there within those 10 days, or they charge late fees. If you decide to use them, someone needs to go the the home EVERY day to check on your loved one. Read the client log EVERY day. Talk to your loved one and make sure that what they are writing in the log is true. Sometimes it is not. The caregivers will put down what they were supposed to do, but that is not always what happened. Sometimes they actually do tell the truth, and it can be shocking. I recommend finding another option besides this company if it is at all possible.

I am an RN with extensive home care and long term care experience and evaluated many home care providers before choosing Home Instead for my Dad. I couldn't be more pleased with their level of integrity and quality of care. The management staff is extremely professional and compassionate, providing very timely response to service requests. My Dad receives Home Health Aide and Companion Services 7 days per week, and has had the same caregiver since start of service almost 2 months ago. Their quality of care and level of communication & oversight is excellent - I can't speak highly enough of this organization. I rest much easier knowing that my Dad is in their reliable care.

We chose to hire the services of Home Instead Senior Care for my grandfather because of the reputation they had for being the best at what they did. When they came out to talk to us, they listened to what we were looking for and what my grandfather's needs were. The caregiver they sent was absolutely wonderful and she became like part of the family. If for some reason she couldn't be there, we knew that they would send an equally capable person to care for him. I felt that the caregiver and my grandfather matched perfectly and we have been nothing but pleased.

Mom started with Home Instead a week after my online inquiry. The first week they had someone else, the second week they had this woman and she has been there since then. My mom just praises her caregiver all the time. When I’m there, the caregiver is very polite to me. I spoke to her and told her not to take my mom to the grocery often and everything had been better.
There was an instance where I called but it was hard for them to answer my questions. It took two days for them to leave a message. I called back at night and they said they will call me in the morning. But it was a day after that somebody got hold of me.

Home Instead Senior Care is a very professionally run home care organization that truly cares about the welfare of their clients. After my mother had several falls, the last being a fractured pelvis, I was faced with the responsibility to get help for my mother. She was in much pain and unable to be left alone. After asking a nurse in the Statesville area, and asking another professional in the health care field, I was advised that Home Instead would be an excellent choice for home care. After making an appointment with Home Instead, I realized I would be unable to leave my mother to go to their office. The owner actually came to my mother's house to explain the services that were offered. That was 5 months ago, and I have nothing but praise for the staff and the owners of the company. Its is a very qualified staff and everyone is very friendly and pleasant. They have the most up-to-date technology available in the health care field. We are using Home Instead's caretakers, and they're fabulous. They're excellent and professional. We're glad we chose them. The one thing that really stands out is that they took our caretaker and trained her for days to do things the proper way. 24 hours a day, if there was a problem, you could call them. Their bills are on time and correct. They're so good with my mother-in-law. Even the nurse that comes is terrific.

This firm is only a temp service under a care giver's name. Our experience was a revolving door of people who had just started with the firm, one who barely spoke English returning to Africa the next week, one with no car that we had to take home at the end of the shift, - to mention only a few. There was no consistency in the care givers. The nurses responsible for introducing the new care givers would lead them to my parent's home and then drive away without entering the house. This was not what we expected at all. My mother has Alzheimer's and routine and constant care is very important in her daily life.
I would not recommend them to any one.

I am so glad that we chose Home Instead. I have been favorably impressed with everyone and the jobs they have done since my initial contact with Kim and her help through the initiation phase as well as Chreighton the owner and his dedication to the kind of job that his company does for its clients. Then, Nurse Jody for getting us all set and responding to new needs that arose shortly after my mom moved in and Ashley for fielding all my questions and walking us through how to handle new events that don't come up until the weekends and the others with whom I've talked when I've needed to call the office.
All of the caregivers are wonderful, and each brings her own special touch to the care plan. However, I do want to highlight two out-of-the-ordinary acts of kindness and taking the initiative since my mom moved to a facility that have made a huge difference:
On a Monday, I had come to visit my mom until Tuesday evening to get some last pictures hung and got to the facility's Family Council and return to Raleigh. While my mom was at supper, she had a severe allergy reaction and was leaving the dining room. Traci was sitting outside on a bench waiting for her client to finish dinner when my mom asked her how to get to the elevator. We had seen Traci in the hallway a few times the first week my mom was there. But for Traci's quick thinking and reacting to see if it was OK with her client eating dinner for her to walk my mom to her room, and my happening to be waiting in the room, it is my belief that someone would have found my mom passed out on the floor. She was so weak and shaking that even if she had found the elevator, she would have never made it to the room on her own. Thank you Traci! We are so sorry that our needing to move the night schedule earlier conflicted with your current schedule. We will miss you!
The following Sunday, I was updating Elizabeth on my mom's back condition and hoped that there would be a maintenance person on duty on the weekend to fix the microwave so that I could heat the buckheat warmer to put heat therapy on the back all along. When I returned from early church, my mom told me that the maintenance man had come to look at the microwave. I went on downstairs to check with the front desk and/or maintenance to see what they thought about getting it fixed or getting a "loaner" until it could be fixed. Then I asked John (maintenance) if his magically checking the microwave in that apartment that morning had been psychic communication, regular maintenance schedule, or just how he came to check it at that time. Well, he said that my mom's caregiver saw him in the hall that morning as she was leaving and asked him where a work order could be placed to have the microwave checked because it was needed. He told the caregiver that he would check on it. A "loaner" was sitting on the cabinet when I got back to the room. It has been often used to keep the heat therapy going on the back. Thank you, Elizabeth! We will miss you while you are on vacation.

My experience with Home Instead Senior Care so far has been positive. I don't have any complaints. We're using them in a very limited way. They come once a week for three hours to do some cleaning, and light housekeeping. What impressed me was they were very proactive in reaching out to us, and they had good phone manners. They seemed interested in coming down to visit, and find out about our needs.

Having someone come every Friday for three hours, changing my bed, going grocery shopping with me, carrying everything and putting items away is a great help to me. I am 91 and live alone.

Although it has been some time since we worked with Home Instead, I wanted to write and say thank you for all your help when I needed it with my father. The caregivers you selected both during the time he was able to stay in his home and when he needed extra attention at the facility, were all so helpful and took such good care of him. Hollace and Jackie made it possible for him to be at home longer and after all that time they both came to his funeral. Nancy and Amber came to the facility and sat with him through some transitional times in his illness.

The thing she wants to do and loves doing things for me. Jessica, my second caregiver was next to my side at all times. She was there doing things before I asked. Can't say enough about either. You moved very quickly to help us in an emergency situation and you were very flexible with our needs in a very stressful and rough time. Emily was a joy and I was very comfortable knowing she was with my Dad taking care of him. You kept me up to date all the time on what was going on and had a great communication system to let us know how he did each day. My mom has been with
home instead for about a year. However, she has gone through 4 workers in that period of time. It seems like there is a lot of turnover. One of the workers even told me she only makes 8$ an hour, so I guess I shouldn't expect such a high level of care, when the workers are underpaid. Some of the workers have not been very professional or knowledgeable when it comes to working with Alzheimer's patients. There have been multiple charges on my mom's credit card along with poor food purchases when she is on a specific diet. I even called the home office and told them not to let these workers buy such things. Overall i have not been happy, because when she gets used to worker, they have another one coming.in. Then, i take the time to meet with each worker and thoroughly go over things with them. I really think this company has potential, but really needs to tighten up some things!!!
