"Hoosier Village was a real ritzy place. The cottages were all taken up and had a waiting list, so we saw independent apartment living and it was not a high rise, but there were elevators and stairs and not all on one level. It had lots of acreages. It's huge, and it had a gated entrance. They had a very high-priced program where you invest a bunch of money in and then you have to pay your monthly dues, too. You got a lot and you're paying a lot. They had a lobby that looked out of this world. They pushed that it was nonprofit and that's why it's so much better than the others, but it wasn't for us because that was a lot of money and a lot of ritzy living that we didn't need. The rooms could turn into assisted living if needed. The food was out of this world. They had everything you would want, buses to go wherever, trips, and activities. They had different dining rooms, and they had a community garden. You had to take a little bus to go to the community garden, that's how big the grounds were. It was in touch with nature, which I liked, but it was too ritzy for us."

"Marquette is a lovely place. It's got exceptional independent living apartments that we're very much interested in. It has an exceptional swimming pool and exercise facility. The ground space is adequate, not crowded, but not as open spacing as I would like to live in. There's been follow-up, and the staff has been cooperative and patient with us in our attempts to return. They're agreeable to us going there for an overnight stay to get the full feel of the community. The food was not the best that we had tasted, but we haven't eaten in the main dining room and are hoping to go back for an overnight stay to do that. The facility was very elegant and well kept, and they had terrific underground parking. That's an outstanding feature that is lacking in all the other places we looked at."

"Park Square Manor is an awesome place. When I moved in, I was grieving. I lost my husband but the people here are wonderful. The staff is wonderful. I live in a studio apartment, but they also have one- bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments. Anything that you would look for, it's wonderful. They give you food and everything's furnished. The apple pork loin is delicious. They have bingo and dirty poker. So, it's really fun. We just had a fall festival yesterday and it was wonderful. We had music come in that played for the people. We have Bible study on Thursday and church on Sunday. Dirty Poker is only on Friday and then on Wednesday, we all gather and have drinks. Then they have people come in and talk to us and entertain us. It's wonderful. For the most part, the food is pretty good. They just hired a new cook on staff. So, things are getting better and better each day. I truly believe it's a wonderful place. They are caring, loving, and kind. You get the word of God, too. You just get a little bit of everything. I think everything that you get is worth it. It's just getting out of my budget."

"Rooms are organized for bedrest comfort, room service, wheelchair mobility, clothes storage, visitor seating, and easily maintained room temperature with fresh air option. Bathroom is clean. Staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. Medical attention is continuous. Rehab is outstanding. Positive relations with clients includes food service, housekeeping, laundry, nursing staff, business office, and enriching social activities. Staff is dedicated to patients and supportive of family. Totally recommend this facility. "

"The people at Five Star Residences of Banta Pointe are very welcoming. My mother loves living there. The sales manager went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The business manager has been very helpful. The lady who mans the front desk is very informative. They have answered all my questions. They come and get my mom and make sure that she's introduced to all the different things they have going on there. She loves the food. I've eaten there myself, and it's great food. I have no complaints. It's always clean, and there's relatively no smell ever. They have lots of different activities. She's getting involved in doing things she never did at home. She's exercising, she's playing bingo, and she's learned new games. She's very active. I think the value is excellent. I'm not upset at all about what we're paying for her care."

"I visited Five Star Residences of Clearwater. The location is a negative. 82nd street is a very busy street, and it was the farthest from my house. However, the facilities were nice. I wouldn't have any problems moving my father there, other than the distance. It's not modern-looking, but it's not old. The staff member was very friendly, very professional, took us on a tour, and answered all our questions. The dining room is large because the facility is larger. It's a restaurant-style dining room with a limited menu, and everything seemed very clean. They have a flyer that goes out every week that lists the activities, and they have a couple of vans or minibuses. They have a workout room, a small theater, and they have a salon."

"I did not expect to find such a beautiful interior and the staff was very friendly and attentive to their residents. The Administrator was so sweet, personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is needing a little tlc. My friend lived there for years, I am so glad they have rebuilt after that fire. "

"The Stratford independent living would be a five. I like the follow-through by the salesperson inviting us back to stay overnight. We had a very nice meal. It was nice and bright and had airy spaces. For myself, I would not choose it because of its location in West Clay. It's kind of a crowded community. They were all very friendly. I don't have any complaints against the staff. I didn't go away hungry. that's the best I could say. I don't remember the menu contents, but they were good choices. The dining hall was very nice, had nice windows, airy, had lots of sunlight, and was very comfortable."

"My mom will be moving into The Barrington of Carmel. The tour went fine. It had all the amenities we wanted. It had tiers for assisted living, skilled nursing, and dementia care, which is what we were looking for. It's close to my home. My mom could afford it. The staff members were polite, kind, very informative, and professional."

"The minute I saw the place, I loved it. It's really a great place to live. The apartments are very clean and nice. The people from the office are very nice and the workers are very good. I would recommend this place to anybody. "

"We went to the Wyndmoor of Castleton today. I liked it, I think my mother liked it. Laurie, the assistant director, was a very, very lovely lady. She was very thorough, gave us the tour. She introduced us to other residents there, and everybody that we met seemed to be really, really lovely people and happy. The staff seemed very, very nice, very informative, and they were very good. We saw a studio, this one lady was in her studio, and she allowed us to come in. Her studio was lovely, very, very nice. They showed us two other studios, one was being renovated, it looked nice, the other one had just been emptied. One of them didn't have any carpet, which is OK, we can always get throw rugs, and the other one, they're putting carpet down. They didn't have it down at the time, but they're putting it down. So they're getting two apartments ready for someone. They were very nice. We saw the exercise room and a physical therapy room. They're very well equipped. They have a beauty salon there, it looks really nice, and a nice laundry room."

"I love that the clients stay busy! They do physical activities and mental activities to keep their minds and bodies strong! "

"We visited Westminster Village North. We saw both 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, and we ate lunch there. The tour was very thorough and all of our questions were answered. The staff we talked to was really good, and she even asked about my father-in-law the second time we were there, so she was very personable and knew our story. The rooms were clean, modern, and had everything you would want. We had a good dining experience there. They had white tablecloths on the table, and there were five of us there, plus the representative of Westminster, and we all had something different to eat. It was all good, and we ordered from a menu. We were able to observe the everyday coming and going of residents. They had some patios and balconies, and gardens."

"My mother is at The Reserve at Hamilton Trace. We've interacted with the staff and they're very caring and helpful. We've eaten there several times and the food was very good. They have a menu to choose from, so they're offered different things that they can decide what they want to eat. The facilities are very nice and very clean. They have bingo, painting, and puzzles, go on trips, go out to eat, they have movies, and have people come in like singers or groups for entertainment. They just have something going on all the time. I didn't have all that much interaction with the staff, but they were very helpful when we needed them. The menu has a choice of everything from steak to sandwiches to fish to salads to desserts. They have many entrees to choose from and soups. They just have everything. They don't have that many common spaces and they're smaller, but I think that's because it's an independent facility where she's at. They've got a great activity director."
