What I like the best about Boardwalk Apartments is they were super quick and very efficient and really helpful with my mom, with getting all of her documents that she needed together. The gal that runs the place is nice. I know it has a courtyard. Other than that, I don't know the other facilities. It's near restaurants and about five miles away from a hospital. The apartments are not very big. They're small.

My sister-in-law is in Boardwalk Apartments. The rooms are small, but it's affordable. It's a beautiful location. I didn't deal with the staff too much. They had a potluck, bingo, and a crafts show. The day that we were there, they had a costume contest. They were really busy. The only thing was that the trash was across the street. There are two sets of apartments, one more of an Alzheimer's wing, which is not that bad. The other one is more independent living and she's in the independent living and you have to walk across the street to get to the other place. They have a small courtyard. There's a hotel across the street and that's a nice thing for people having visitors.

The Management and Maintenance Team are not like your usual team. They have such an amazing energy working together that with any interaction with any of them is fantastic. They truly care and work hard to keep the community going. Many get confused with independent living and assisted, I have witnessed family members expecting the same level care as assisted and being down right disrespectful towards they staff, yet they continue to smile and help. Don't know how they do it. They are the unsung hero's where my mom lives. My mom absolutely loves it here, she had friends, activities to do and just knowing that the staff are here and care. They do have challenges with the homeless with the location being across the street from the mission and food bank, but once again these are not issues caused by management. They work hard to keep the residents safe but we also need to remember that our government has made it so difficult for landlords to do their job as fast as the residents would like.

There are many decent, friendly neighbors here. But morale in the building is currently very low. There is a large homeless population in the immediate vicinity and friction between the homeless and the elderly residents is high. The building has locked outer doors needing a key card, but that doesn't keep the homeless out. There are drugs and weapons coming into the building in the guise of so-called "family members" and "caregivers". Management seems powerless to keep them out. All of the residents are elderly and most have health issues. We are intimidated by "family members" who have moved in and are living here rent-free. Police are called on a regular basis because of violence in several of the apartments. It doesn't appear that management makes any effort to screen new tenants. There are good people here. They deserve better.

What I like about Boardwalk Apartments is there's a lot of freedom. The staff is pretty good and if there's any maintenance that needs to be done, they do it right away. There's a courtyard if you're on the first floor and it's close to the bus transit. There are several bars and restaurants around, too. I just don't like the way the building is laid out, but that's not something they can do anything about it.

Boardwalk Apartments was right downtown. I liked it. They have a brand-new apartment building. It was clean inside. I saw a one-bedroom, and it was kept up pretty well.

I love Boardwalk Apartments. I feel safe and secure here because the outside doors are always locked. It's also a very comfortable and very clean facility. My place had new carpeting, nice floors, and everything is brand new. It's just beautiful. The staff is really good and very helpful whenever you have any problems or questions. The baseboard heater in my bedroom wasn't working, and they came right away, checked it and found out that whoever lived here before, disconnected the wiring inside the heater. They reconnected the heater, and it was fine. The maintenance is right on top of everything, and I have no complaints about them. Sometimes, it's hard to get a hold of the staff, but once you get a hold of them, they're helpful and they'll work with you. The community room is closed because of the pandemic. I've been here since the 21st of November, and I haven't been able to socialize with anyone or met people, except when you see them in the hallway or much of them are coming in and out of the door. I think it has a fair price, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I live here. Noisy homeless shelter across the street. Noisy trash trucks in the early morning three days a week. Noisy water treatment plant nearby. Noisy construction in area. One maintenance man for several hundred units in Lakewood and Olympia means it takes a month of nagging to get a repair done in an apartment. Management is overburdened. Buildings are eighteen years old and run down due to little preventive maintenance. Two stars for friendly community.

The only place we went to was the SHAG Boardward Apartments in Olympia, and that was really nice, nice facility. I viewed it only, it looked really nice, I even drove by, and that was really what’s going to be the next step if we needed it -- to use that facility -- but we didn’t need it. It was clean, nice, and didn’t smell at all. They were really good and the location was perfect.
