Affinity at Southridge

I am living in Affinity at Southridge's independent living community in Kennewick, and it's absolutely wonderful. The staff and the residents here have been very friendly, very caring, and very helpful. My apartment is absolutely fine. It's quiet, and I appreciate having a little deck out back. The side of the building I'm on is facing south, so I get plenty of sunshine here. I also have a walk-in shower, a stackable washer and dryer, and a dishwasher, so I'm all set. We have a community room that is equipped with tables, a couch, and a few chairs. Sometimes the staff puts on special food for different things there. Sometimes the residents also do it. It's not necessarily a weekly thing, but throughout the month, there's usually a time when there will be some food. Whatever we've had has been good, whether the staff or the residents have put it on. There are activities, too. I enjoy having the covered pool and the hot tub. I go down there four or five times a week for the aerobic exercises in the pool, as that's my number one thing. I enjoyed having a raised bed garden in the summer, where I raised flowers and was able to distribute them amongst the people. They have plenty of card games, which I have never gotten into, but I have learned to play the game Rummikub. They have a happy hour in what they call the pub on Thursday afternoons. They have a theater, a game room, a craft room, a library, and a study room. They have many amenities. They encourage me to bring my grandkids, and I love to see them come and use the pool. They also love to come and use the game room here. They have an exercise room with exercise equipment, so it can be a very busy place. I'm not as active as some, but I love my quiet times at home, and it fits my needs very well. I'm very happy here, and it's well worth it for me.

Affinity at Southridge was good. They offered a lot, but it was a little bit too independent, maybe not as many organized things going on. My mom-in-law would have had coupon meals. There weren't a lot of people around when we toured and it could have been just the time that I went to. I don't know. It didn't feel like a community. The lady that gave the tour was nice and she had great information, but it just wasn't a good fit for what we were looking for. The apartments were nice. They had one or two bedrooms. It had all the amenities and the kitchens were at least full kitchens with stoves and everything. It was very clean. It's not old, but for someone with any kind of mobility issues, it was a lot of walking.

I like the fact that Affinity at Southridge is all inclusive with many amenities, except the meal plan. I'm independent enough to have my own kitchen and do my own cooking. It was also the only place that had that combination. The building is eight years old, but I didn't realize it was that old because the upkeep has been good. My apartment is so nice and clean. I actually thought the washer and dryer were new; but in fact, it came with the apartment eight years ago. Certainly the leasing agent has been very friendly and helpful. I appreciate her help. I haven't participated in any activities yet, but it looks like they have a lot of activities for the residents. There is a library, crafts, woodworking, a pub that serves meals, a saltwater indoor pool, outdoor barbecue facilities, and a lot more. I've been impressed with everything I've seen so far.

Affinity at SouthRidge was very nice. What I liked most about them was its home-like atmosphere, and the people were very very friendly. It's a newer facility, and it was even more updated than the other one that we saw. For what it was, the things that they offered, and the price, it was very good. We met one lady, and she seemed very nice, cared about the people there, was very energetic, and had a lot of information. They had activities, and they had a garage that they set up if you want to do woodworking or that kind of stuff. You can go and use the garage and use whatever tool and facilities that are there.
