My mother is at Village Green in Federal Way. It's a beautiful community, but I feel that they could have done more with the residents during this COVID experience. Other than that, it's been fine. She's not happy there but she hasn't been really happy anywhere. The facility itself is beautiful and well-organized. The staff is also wonderful. She doesn't care for the food though. They did have activities before COVID, they're just starting again with them now. They have movies, a library, a piano, cards, and all that.

I went to Village Green Retirement Campus. I like the size of the facility and how the continuing care kind of things were arranged, and it looked very much like a neighborhood setting, which was wonderful. I like the variety of the living spaces, the options that you have for one-, two- or three-bedroom, just all of the walking trails, and the fact that they have a van. If you're in the independent living and you need to get to the main building for a meal, the van will come pick you up. I like the longevity of the management staff there. The staff during the tour was wonderful. Her name was Katie. It was on our list to go see, and we thought we would just drive through, we walked into the main building with the goal of, "Let's set an appointment so we can sit down and talk to somebody," and Katie, right then and there, made time for us. Her knowledge of the facility, the way she just instantly made time, and the way that she spoke was clear. Both my parents wear hearing aids, and there was never any sort of, "What? Can you say that again? What do you mean?" She was terrific with the pacing, and the organization of the way that she presented the information, I cannot say enough good things about her. She was fabulous. We met the chef who has been there at that facility for 15 years. Mom and Dad are on a list to get an invitation to an event for a meal at any time of their choosing. I like what was offered, the setting, the way that they have their library room set up, the puzzle room, just the way that you move through the facility, and the spaces that are available with two or three chairs for quiet conversation that are in the hallway, but without interrupting the traffic in the hallway. From the places that we saw, I think that is my personal favorite.

Village Green Retirement Campus had a lot of options. They have duplexes, then some apartments, and several things. It was a little older facility, but it's convenient to everything, and it's in Federal Way. The lady showed me a couple of different places, and then she showed me one that was already taken, and they were going to redo it. Then she had a new one that she also showed me, but it was pretty big, and was more expensive.

We toured Village Green Retirement. Some parts of it are older, and parts of it are brand new. We looked at both a smaller two-bedroom that had a loft, which had a ton of storage in that one. It had its own little patio, and it backed up to trees and whatnot, so you kind of had a private patio, and it seemed nice. That was an older unit, but it was in good shape. We looked at one of the apartments, an assisted living apartment that was in the main building, and it was dated, but it was nice. It had a nice big balcony, that one was an upstairs corner room. It had a large balcony that you could look out over the trees and stuff. It had ample storage in it as well. And then we looked at one of their brand new apartments that had a two-car garage. It had two huge bedrooms, had a big kitchen, and the living, dining room area was beautifully done. It had a nice-sized laundry room and two baths. So you had a ton of storage in that one as well. My mom is moving from a six hundred square foot house to an apartment, so she wants to make sure she can take most of her stuff with her. It was nice. Of course, it was more expensive too, but It would work for her. The staff was very friendly. We talked to a few people there. It seemed like a nice place, they had a pretty nice dining area, they had some various, to-do activities, There's an aquatic center, you could walk to it from there, it's just down the street from that. We also noticed that there was a church, a Lutheran church close by, which my mom was looking for. I liked the third apartment that we looked at, it was larger than some of the other ones. My mom liked the smaller one that had a loft, but we're trying to get her away from stairs.

My mom has been staying in the Village Green Retirement Campus for about three years now. Occasionally, there's a meal that she likes. Her major complaint about their food is it's preparation. It's not prepared properly to the point where it can't be eaten and chewed, but I think the staff is good. She particularly likes the care staff, who I suppose are the nursing assistants. She cares for them a lot and feels that they are just very, very good. I think communication is a bit of a problem among the administrative staff though. Her studio has a deck, and it is set up reasonably nice for a studio. It's kind of around the corner. The floor plan is nice. They do yoga, have a couple of different exercise groups, and arts and crafts. Particularly prior to COVID, there's kind of a juice bar area where people would congregate. I think sometimes there would be an entertainer who sang or played the guitar. It's certainly not a bad place, but I think that there's ways that it could be improved. It's a nice building, and it's a very nice location. My mom complains a bit about how people attend the exercise groups. People seem to have the ability to pre-book appointments to be in the exercise class way ahead of time, but they don't allow other people to have a chance. Also, she feels that some of the arts and crafts are rather juvenile, and not more appropriate for an adult.

The rooms in Village Green were really nice but a little outdated. They didn't have new cabinets, but I liked that there were lots of windows, so there's a lot of light. The staff was really nice, and it's pretty private. It's a big complex in the woods, so it's really pretty, more natural and outdoorsy, and kind of away from everything so I like that. They had a pretty good chef, and three dining rooms. The lady I spoke to follows up with me all the time was really helpful and nice.

The cottages at Village Green Retirement Campus was very physically appealing. The apartment units' layouts varied tremendously, so you have to look at each one individually. I looked at one that was completely unacceptable because there was no wall space in the bedroom big enough to put a double bed in. They had done some refurbishing of the public areas, like the hallways, the dining room, and the gathering areas, that look very nice. Some of the two-bedroom units are very pleasant. I met Karen and liked her a lot. They had good recreation and exercise programs. I liked the fact that they only serve dinner, not breakfast and lunch, because I'm much better off preparing my own breakfast and lunch. They have a small therapy pool, but I think they need a bigger one.

Village Green felt more comfortable; that’s why we chose the place. It has been good; we’ve only been here a month. They have various exercise programs, and they’ve got games, tours, and a bus that takes people to the doctor and for outings. They’ve got good meals. The facility is very good and clean. When you look outside, there’s a lot of plants around, and they take care of the gardens well. It feels like a home rather than an institution.

My aunt has been with Village Green Retirement Campus for 12 years and it's a great place. The staff's attitudes are really great. The front desk staff are very good. She had a two-bedroom apartment and it's very nice. Each have their own washing machine and dryer within their unit.

The meals are pretty good at Village Green Retirement. I have been living here since August 17th. The people who work and live here are very nice. I like that I can go shopping around. I have a little dog I walk everyday and they have got some nice grass to walk on.

I love Village Green. It was a wonderful facility. It was really luxurious compared to the others I have seen. For the same price that you got in another facility, you can get a one-bedroom cottage with a garage, a living room area downstairs and an extra room upstairs if you have a company. I couldn't imagine anything better than that. Their staff was very nice and very capable. They also have activities for their residents. They have parties and get-togethers. There were three ladies playing with visual games on the TV and it looked like they were having a lot of fun. With regards to food, you only get a dinner when you sign in this facility. However, Village Green is too far from where I live now and I am afraid of losing all my friend I've got here.

We like it very well in Village Green Retirement Campus. I feel it is much more homey compared to other facilities we've visited. The staff is really fine, very helpful, and happy to see us and even invited us for lunch. Food is quite good.

This place is warm and welcoming, you'll find friendship and fun, caring staff and companionship, and the inspiration to explore every day in a new way.It is a smoke free establishment wich makes for a healthier living situation. Very nice. I was impressed by all the smiling faces that I saw and can't wait to return. I would recommend this place to any of my friends.
