This facility looks nice, beautifully decorated, large rooms and plenty of space for the memory care residents. However, there is not enough staff to properly supervise and engage with the residents. People with dementia need a lot more than what is provided here. There is one activities person for 5 households and very little ever going on. It is a place to warehouse people in a locked unit for safety but that’s about it. Beautiful decor doesn’t mean anything if the care is average. And the food is horrible. The residents are mostly left to fend for themselves. I would not recommend it.

We did find a place at Joseph C. Thomas for my husband’s parent. We chose it because the rooms are large, the staff is very good and welcoming, and it’s strictly for dementia patients, which is what we wanted. We like this community's lighting. It seems to get a lot more daylight through the windows. We felt like she would do better at this facility.

My mom is in Joseph C. Thomas. The staff and the housekeeping is excellent, and the food is just average, but the quality is OK. The room is great and beautiful. It’s private. They keep everything very, very, clean, and there’s no odor. The grounds are excellent and kept very clean, and they are very well maintained. She is happy there. She can sit outside when the temperature is good.

My mother was at the Memory Care Center for 13 months. They took her on a moment's notice when my dad had a heart attack and could no longer care for her. Staff were very kind to her, worked with her at the level where she was, not where they wanted her to be. She was coaxed to eat, encouraged to participate in activities as she could, and allowed to be alone if she wished. When her condition worsened, staff worked with us and Hospice to make her final days as peaceful as possible. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
