We toured Holiday Elm Park Estates. It turned out that that was independent living. We really like that, but it just won't work for my mother, or if my mom were going to go there, she might stay home because it's totally independent. I thought what you got there was good value. I noticed it was clean and up-to-date. A lot of people who are living there still work. It's just the fact that they've got a small one-bedroom apartment, and the place gives them three meals a day, and that's all they're getting from it. But for the dollar amount, considering they're getting 90 meals a month, it was pretty cheap. I liked the apartment. I thought they were good. They were all nice. The staff who gave the tour were friendly.

I visited the independent living community of Holiday Elm Park Estates in Roanoke. It was very nice. It was clean, seemed up-to-date, and modern. The person who assisted me during the tour was very polite, very friendly, and very helpful. I also noticed that transportation was available and saw residents coming and going in their van.

This place is amazing, I would recommend to anyone looking for a place for a loved one Moved my mom in and she loves it. She has friend and good food, and her own place to be if she wants time to her self. The staff is there if she needs anything. They are wonderful, a gift from god for us. Thank you to Ginger & all the staff....

Apartments are spacious. Food is good but even better now with the new chef. More servers would help the staff. Staff is the shining star at this facility.

We like Holiday Elm Park Estates. The only thing is they're not assisted living. My aunt liked the rooms and everything. But what bothered her was there would be nobody there in case she needed help at night. They closed the doors at 7:30 where other people couldn't come in and out. My aunt would have a key and she could go in and out on, but the only thing she would have to rely on would be a necklace or a button or something to wear. Somebody would come and help you when you fall, but there wouldn't be anyone there at the place to help you after 7:30. That's what sort of bothered her. We liked everything about Holiday Elm Park Estates. The size of the rooms was better. Their bathrooms were nice. Everything about it was nice. They showed us everything they had. There's a person who comes in to do their hair and everything. In the elevator and their common room, they have listed what days of the week they will take you to Walmart or do outings and stuff like that. I like how they did that. The dinner was OK. I'm a picky eater and my aunt is too. They had a menu where they had to write something every night. And if you didn't like that, you could do something else. Some of the menu sounded okay, but some of the menu was like, no, we don't like certain things. We liked the fact that people could go outside and walk and everything, and it was nice and peaceful there. The staff who assisted us was nice. And the place was nice and clean.

Holiday Elm Park Estates was a beautiful place. They were very helpful in explaining everything. It had a good atmosphere. They gave the residents something to do. They make things easy and simpler. They had gardens, puzzle rooms, breakfast and dinner, a beautiful area to eat in, and a place to commune with each other. They played all sorts of games, like bingo, to help them get along and feel good about themselves.

I went to Holiday Elm Park Estates and I enjoyed the whole thing. It was a good tour. The staff seemed to be really knowledgeable and really friendly. They knew most of the residents by name. It's a very lovely location. It's very centralized and easy to get to. The rooms have nice views and they seemed to offer a lot. It seemed like they have a very caring staff. They gave me a copy of their menu and we came in through the dining hall. The residents were eating at the time. The food selection seemed good, and the residents seemed to enjoy the food. The dining hall was lovely. They have a salon, a laundry room available for the residents, a lounging room, aTV area, a game room, and an activity room.

Elm Park Estates was very nice. They got a little hiking trail that goes around. The food was really good. It's a nice place. We met with the lady that did the tour, and she was very nice. We only visited a studio apartment, and it was very nice. They had a library on each floor, and they had activities. They had a board up showing the activities for each day.

Elm Park Estates is more of a retirement community, they provide the meals and all but we pay someone there that comes in and gives my father-in-law his medicine. They come in and clean the room too but they don't help him bathe or anything like that because it's an independent living place. It was nice, the food was good, and this is going to sound negative, but everything was good up until COVID. They were isolated in their apartments and the food, I think, suffered. They would bring their meals to the room and that sort of thing. I think the quality went down on the food. It's not the facility's fault but I think a lot of the tenants there had depression too because they were isolated and didn't get to participate in other activities. Now that they're back eating in the dining room, the food is still not back to what it used to be and it used to be good. That was a big thing for my father-in-law. They eat 3 meals a day in the dining room and stuff, and he just got to a point where, a lot of times, he wouldn't even go down there because the food was so bad. For the most part, the staff was very helpful. There was a high level of communication, they did communicate well. Overall, they were good. His room is nice and it has an open floor plan. The bathroom is handicapped-accessible, so that was helpful with its wide doorways. They were also very prompt when there were any maintenance issues. They had a lot of activities, parties and movie nights and everything was great. I don't know that they have picked back up on all of those things yet but it was good.

We just moved my mother in Elm Park Estates and she had to be put in quarantine. So far they've checked on her regularly. They did miss one meal, but so far it's good. We've had a really good experience, but she hasn't been out in the general population yet because of quarantine. The staff is very helpful. My mother has talked about the food. She says that it is generous portions, more than she could eat, but that it's good. The little apartment that she went into, it now has fresh paint, it's got new carpeting, new blinds, so it's very nice. They do have activities, and she hasn't been able to take part in any of those yet, but there is a calendar of events in the elevator, so she's already looked at that and has expressed interest in some of the activities. I think the missed meal was just because my mother was new and they hadn't gotten her in the nurse system, maybe, so that's how it got overlooked. Other than that, everything has been great. My mother had been in a retirement community for four years prior to this and Elm Park was the one that was the closest to where I live. After seeing it, I didn't feel the need to look in at the other facilities that were much farther away.

Did not get to experience the food. The place was clean and very Covid careful. The staff was very pleasant. The apartments had good and amenities and seemed a good size. The location is very good. Has some nice views while being close to necessities.

Elm Park Estates was a nice place. It was a place I was considering, but there were two problems with it. Each apartment did not have its own laundry facility, instead they just had a laundry facility at the end of the corridor and the residents would have to compete with the staff that was doing laundry for the other residents. The other problem was they have meals at certain times of the day and you have to be there at a certain time in order to be served; everybody gets served at once. So if dinner starts at 4:30, you would have to be there at 4:30; you couldn't come in at 5:00 and eat. They didn't have a time period where you could go in and just sit down. You had to be down there at 4:30 for dinner, which is about two hours earlier than my mother eats. It was a very nice place and they had activities, but they had more bingo and things like that rather than lectures or people who come in to talk. They also had a game room.

My mother-in law is in Elm Park Estates. They're wonderful people. It came recommended, and when we looked at it, we liked it. She has lots of friends and they can have lunch out once a month. My mother-in-law went out once with them. They have different games, and she doesn't do that, but they have something every day for them. I love the food.

Everything at Elm Park Estates was nice. The rooms were pleasant. I love the dining room, I can bring a lady friend for dinner there to see how the food is. They showed me the exercise rooms and all the activity spaces that they had. I saw their well-manicured grounds, the excellent parking, and the rest of their amenities. Everything was just neat and clean and they even provide transportation.

I put my mother in Elm Park Estates. What stood out for me was the cleanliness and the fact the staff live there. I just really like it. It is an assisted living place, but it doesn't seem like it's for old people. It looks like a hotel, and the people who work there actually live there. They have a chapel, a patio, an activity room, and a beautiful dining room. They have four stories with an elevator and take them to different activities. They have a nursing staff that can take care of them. It can be anywhere from independent living all the way up to hospice care. My mother is in assisted living. The quality of the food at Elm Park is better than most restaurants that I pay a lot of money to eat at in Roanoke. They have a chef there who's absolutely unbelievable, and their food and set up is like going to a high-class restaurant. They would announce activities in the dining room, and she'll go down and if she's not interested, she'll go back to her room and sit in her room or outside if the weather's nice.

Elm Park Estates was very nice, but it was independent living, and my brother-in-law needed assisted living. The rooms were very nice, as well. I was very impressed with this facility. The lady who called me and invited me to lunch was very nice.

Elm Park Estates is a very attractive place. This is one of the places I had seen because it was nearby. It is modern. There is a big atrium with skylights and lots of light coming in. The hallways are wide. They also have little shelves that people decorate for the seasons. The apartment sizes are good. Elm Park Estates is a very vibrant, happy place. The residents looked very happy and comfortable. The facility is a very optimistic, happy place. The dining room is very large. There is a menu from which you can choose. The food was excellent. Elm Park Estates is part of a large group. If you wish to travel, you can stay at one of their places in another state for no extra charge. That is a really good feature for me.

It was an excellent visit for me at Elm Park. It was wonderful. They came and picked me up. I had lunch with them, and we listened to a concert. They took me on a tour. They were just lovely. The food was wonderful. The staff was fantastic. The rooms were beautiful. They just had the basics, and that's all you need. You would have your meals outside, but they had a microwave and the few essentials for what you would need. They have it well-prepared. Activities were well-developed. They are always having dances and having people come to sing to them. They take them on tours and bus trips.

Elm Park Estates is strictly independent living. It's a very, very nice facility. The rooms are of good size. The two bedrooms are really nice. The one bedroom is a little bit small. We did have a meal there when we had the tour and I was very pleased with the meal we had. The folks that we toured with were very, very gracious and actually have invited us back. Even if they are independent living, they try to aide their people in place. Once you get to the point where you really, really need a lot of care, they are going to work with you to try to make sure that you can stay there as long as possible. This is number 1 on my list if mom is truly just independent living.
