Mom moved to The Harmony Collection at Roanoke. We chose this because of the space that she has in her studio and the cleanliness of the facility compared to the other ones here in Roanoke. They are very much different. It's all one huge community all together. It's like a little village up there for the elderly. When you go into other facilities, they have little tiny refrigerators and the rooms are small and just not a lot of space. The Harmony Collection at Roanoke has almost like a full-size refrigerator in the room with a lot of kitchen space, a nice walk-in closet, and a very decent, large bathroom. My mom has a rollator so she has to have space to walk around in the bathroom and get around. When it comes to the studio, it fits a bed, the furniture, and the entertainment center. So, it fits furniture well and for somebody that's living on her own that doesn't need a full-size apartment, the space would be perfect. They were very welcoming, very sweet, and very caring. They're just on point with everything. Before my mom even moved in, when my husband and I were going over to her place to set things up every night and every day, the food smelled so good there. Mom also says the food has been really good. They have a really good menu and different choices.

I do not recommend this facility. If your loved one is self-sufficient and independent, it might be OK. If your loved one needs any sort of assistance, keep looking. On the surface, things are nice, neat, interactive, but dig a little deeper and you will see they are lacking in many aspects of compassionate care. Apartments are only cleaned on the surface level, laundry takes over 24 hours, medication mistakes are made, communication with the family is abysmal. They are short staffed, have very high turnover, they lack accountability and you should not trust them to do what they say they will. If you move someone here, check on them often and thoroughly, eat a meal with them, stay until meds are delivered, listen to the staff talking, you will see and hear for yourself.

We toured The Harmony Collection at Roanoke - Assisted Living. It was excellent. We were very impressed with that facility. It is a very large facility. It is a very active community. There were lots of residents milling around, and they were playing bingo, and they were very friendly with us as we were walking through. We loved that tour, that was a fabulous tour. They had options of either studio or one-bedroom apartment-type rooms, and they were lovely. They were very nicely furnished. The bathrooms were walk-in and safe. They had all the safety features that we were looking for. They have little kitchenettes. So, they had lovely accommodations there. However, the minimum for respite care would be 30 days.

We went to The Harmony Collection at Roanoke - Assisted Living and saw all the differently sized rooms. Their studio is big enough for a full-sized bed, a couch, a TV, and a little chair; it's a good size. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, and the bathrooms were large. They took me around and showed me the physical therapy area, a little movie theater, and some of the activities like art and singing. I looked at their menus, and they were great. The people there said that they often eat there, and the staff also dine there because the food is so good. So, everybody seemed happy about that.

The Harmony Collection at Roanoke-Assisted Living was a beautiful facility. It was a nice building. They had quite a bit of activities and they had other rooms for them to do activities in, but it was too expensive. The residents' room seemed a little small. They had a room for games, a TV room, and a puzzle room.

The Harmony Collection at Roanoke - Assisted Living was very presentable. We were pleased and impressed with it. It was a nice place. We saw a room and the layout looked efficient. It had a bathroom and a small kitchen. They had an exercise room, a salon, and a game room. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very knowledgeable and very patient about all the questions we had. The dining room had individual tables and there were tables for the ones who needed some assistance. You could go to the buffet or you could pick out your own food from the menu. The main halls and entrances were very well kept, not cluttered or anything.

The Harmony Collection at Roanoke -Assisted Living was very clean, the food is delicious, and my mother loves it. She has thrived since she got there. They make sure she gets her medicine when she needs it. She gets 3 good meals a day and they provide snacks any time she wants them. They take good care of her. She looks better now after she's been in there for 2 and a half weeks than when she went in. She's in level 3 assisted living. They go out of their way to make sure that the residents are happy and taken care of. They do extras for them, I think, and they are very hands-on. They want their residents to be happy. I've eaten there more than once and their food is delicious. I know that they have a calendar with 3 or 4 activities a day. They have sports activities, bingo, and they play games.

We went to The Harmony Collection at Roanoke - Assisted Living last Saturday. It was a great tour. They were very nice, they showed us the facility, all the different places, a studio, and a 1-bedroom apartment, everything. They showed us where they would eat, where they could exercise, and where the salon was. The staff gave us the prices for the care, extras that might be needed, and how much the payment for each month would be. It was nice. We did not try the food, but they were willing to set up a time where we could come back to do that and bring my mom as well. They baked us some cookies, so we got some cookies to bring home, and they were good. Everything looked good.
