My husband, Jack, is now at Brookdale Waxahachie in the Alzheimer’s/memory care unit. It is a very caring place, and I am glad that we chose it. They might be understaffed in their memory unit. They have about 28 patients and currently four people on the staff. They are trying to hire six, but they are having a little trouble with their staffing. A lady told me the other day that they had almost 100 percent turnover in staffing. That's my only concern. They could use a few additional staff members to take care of the people who really do need a lot of attention. It's very clean and very bright. They have an activities director who seems to provide a lot of activities for those people who are able to get in wheelchairs and walkers. They decorated it really nicely for Christmas and had some visiting people come in and sing Christmas carols and so forth. For Waxahachie, it is probably the best place that Jack could possibly be. He’s only been there for a month, and I am satisfied with the care they provide. I like the fact that the people who are running it seem to really care about their patients, and also the fact that it is bright and cheery. It didn’t have that hospital smell you sometimes get in places like that.

I toured Brookdale Waxahachie. It was a little expensive. The staff seemed very friendly. The room seemed spacious and private. The building was very lovely. They have a courtyard. The community seemed clean and open. They have meeting rooms and so forth. They have a library and lots of amenities.

Brookdale Waxahachie is perfect, but it is assisted living. The reason that I thought it was so perfect was because of the convenience of it. The apartment that they showed me was right near where you go to take your dog out. It was very near the dining room. It was just convenient to everything, but it was too expensive. We came during lunch and people were in there eating, but they didn't offer. The staff member during the tour was really nice. I enjoyed his company. They had several common areas. It was clean and smelled clean. Everybody was pleasant. He introduced me to people that work there.

I'm in Brookdale Waxahachie. The staff is nice and the people who live here are nice. I feel like I'm in a college dorm room. We have an activity director and she's pretty good. She keeps us pretty busy during the week. They have different games. The sales manager is a people person. I like her a lot. We do chair volleyball, bingo and brain games. They have church service if you want to go listen to it, but you don't have to. We take a few outings, we've gone out to eat one time since I've been here, and they go to Wal-Mart every once in a while and shopping. The food is what I'm calling about. I have a few issues with triglycerides and I have kidney disease, so I watch my sodium content. They have too much fried food here. I suggest to maybe get air fryers. Everything's deep fried like chicken tenders and deep fried shrimp. It's just not very healthy for me at all. My complaint is eating a lot of saturated fat. It says low sodium on the menu, but anything processed is going to have a lot of sodium and it's not good for my kidneys. I noticed my blood pressure has been a lot higher since I've been here. My kidney doctor is not real happy about that. A lot of times they don't have what they have on the menu. Sometimes, they just run out. Today at lunch we had to eat in our rooms because they're redoing the counter in the dining area. They took my order and said, "We're having ham and potatoes and a salad. What kind of salad dressing you want?" I use vinegar and oil and when they bought the salad, it was full of ranch dressing and nothing like I ordered. I told her I didn't want dessert. I just want ice water to drink, and they brought me sweet tea. I don't understand why they won't invest in air fryers. This is 2022, that's what I use at home was the air fryer. It takes a lot of the grease out of the food and it's healthier to eat that way. I don't have any problem with the staff. They're very attentive and nice. I just couldn't recommend it to anybody because of the food. There's one lady who does an outstanding job. She needs a raise. She does so much. She's very conscientious of the patients and medicines. She's a med tech, too. She's an excellent person. I think she needs more recognition than she gets. I had a misconception of what assisted living was. They said you have your own apartment and you can kind of come and go, but no, you're locked in here, so I don't like that. You have to get somebody open the door to let you out to get you rides, but Trina was very good about doing that with me in the morning. My main complaint is the food. They've just renovated the facility. it will be pretty nice when they get all that done. They're repainting the facility and putting new carpet down. I have a service dog. He stays with me and he loves all the residents, and they all seem to like him. For the amount of money you spend here, they should have an exercise room. I had to bring my own stationary bike. It's overpriced. They could do better on the food for older people, have more outside trips and more lunch out to eat. They have people come over and sing though.

Brookdale Waxahachie was clean and organized. The lady that showed me around interacted with some of the residents, and I was impressed. I met a couple of staff and they were very friendly too. It's just little dark, but when you go in, it's beautiful, well-decorated, and had a feeling of hominess, and everybody seemed to be pleasant. I viewed the menus and I was impressed with the way they handled it. They have a chef, so if you don't like what's being served that day, they have an alternative, which is impressive. It's not just an "eat what you get" kind of thing.

Brookdale Waxahachie's manager showed me around. I visited their assisted living, but they have memory care also. She showed me the room and kind of pointed and directed me, but I didn't go all over the place for safety reasons. My overall experience was very good. The room was OK. It was overpriced and not as aesthetically pleasing as the one my mom is in now. I wasn't really impressed with it.

Brookdale Waxahachie is very good and nice. I like the activities, and he likes them. I am very pleased with the way they treat him. They're nice, and they give me good answers whenever I ask them. I am very pleased, but the only complaint is the price. They sing, do exercises with their feet, arms and shoulders, play Bingo, and movies, and they ask them questions with answers that would be way back in their generation, things that they would know.

Brookdale Waxahachie was very pleasant, and everyone was very sweet. The staff was very informative, courteous, and helpful. They had transportation. I liked the rooms because they were a good size, very clean, kept up well, and private. I was impressed with it. It was, overall, a really nice place.

We toured Brookdale Waxahachie. The rooms were kind of small, but they did care for the people. They do laundry, and maintenance looked good.

I chose Brookdale Waxahachie because it was very comforting. The staff is very caring, and my grandmother likes it. I like her room. She has her own space with a little kitchenette and a separate area for her TV and a sitting area. It's like her own home. I was very pleased that they have a good variety with regard to the food, and she likes the food, too.

My wife was moved to this facility a little over four and a half years ago. When I first visited the facility it passed the smell test and still does and after talking to staff members I decided to move her there. Wise choice. She has received better care than I could ever hope to give and she like it there. It was recently voted the best in Waxahahcie and there is a reason for that. I have visited many facilities and this is the best of the best. One thing that sold me on this place was that you cannot just walk in you must be let in and the same for leaving.

Sterling House is the perfect place for my dad. It is a nice and lovely place. They are doing a good job taking care of him. The food is good. They have 4 attendants 24/7 taking care of probably 16 to 18 guests there, and they are very good.

Sterling House was good. They had small rooms but the staff was nice and helpful. I walked through when people were eating but I didn't really notice anything. They have ice cream socials, bingo and arts and crafts. I had my parents' long term care policy and the person that I met with couldn’t really interpret it. It may not be something that they do but she led me to believe that she could if I would bring it and then when I did, she really couldn't understand whether it was covered or not so we're going back to Prudential to find out. It's an older policy so that's maybe why but that's why I would take off just a tiny little bit just because I thought that she would be able to tell me right upfront. But overall, she was very nice and very helpful.

The Sterling House of Waxahachie assisted living facility was a very nice looking community. The backyard area featured many nice areas to enjoy with residents, friends and family - with lovely trees and well manicured lawns. We liked the home-style atmosphere that can handle all levels of ambulation. We thought my brother's friend would like the interior design, which was very clean and easy to navigate. Each room had nice views with good colors, fresh air and light. The food looked and smelled delicious, and was prepared healthily. The main dining room had comfortable furniture with a nice decor. The residents receive healthy, home-style cooked meals in a restaurant setting. The private rooms were nicely designed and decorated tastefully with lots of light and air. Each unit had pleasant views of surrounding areas. Bathrooms were safely designed and a nice size. The menus had the usual fare, plus some interesting dishes. It was clear that the dietician and chef take the time to make appetizing meals. Snacks are offered throughout the day and when residents request them. The fitness center includes yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment was easy to access and residents are encouraged to exercise daily. They can also safely navigate the lovely garden courtyards and pathways. The calendar of events included many stimulating activities to enjoy all that the region has to offer. The residents all looked well cared for seemed to really enjoy living in this environment. We would recommend that anyone searching for a place located in the vicinity for their loved one check it out.

Both of my parents moved into Sterling House in August 2010. The staff quickly became extended members of our family. My father passed away in December 2010. He was given excellent care physically and emotionally. The staff helped us through his last days and the days following his death. Truly like a family. My mom lives there still and has dementia. They are well trained in her condition and she loves the staff. They go to great lengths to make all the residents feel at home and part of the Sterling House family with parties, good food and lots of activities. I highly recommend Sterling House of Waxahachie.
