Assisted Living Communities in San Angelo, TX

"Emeritus seemed okay. It is a two-story building, which is fine, but they only have one elevator on each end and they are quite small. My mother-in-law mainly uses one of those scoot around things because of her being impaired and I think the elevator just seemed really tight in there. You wouldn't be able to get many people in there with her. Also she thought the rooms were a little small. However, the staff seemed fine and the facility was clean and nice, but she was not interested in it. "

"I racked my brain trying to think of something I don’t like about this place – I can’t!! The personnel, the food, the security and safety feeling; the other residents, all make this my home away from home. "

"My grandmother lived in this nursing home on the psych ward. The great thing about this facility is the coded locked doors. You don't have to worry about your loved ones escaping and being found days later a few blocks up the highway. As for equipment, they have all your standard slings and ambulatory devices, as well as gated beds and all the other amenities. The nurses there are pros, though i can't speak for the CNA's that work there. Patients are generally well taken care of by the staff as far as I can tell. My favorite part is that patients are gathered if possible at least twice a day for activities like board games and karaoke. There are always plenty of nurses on the floor, and all patients receive a proper amount of attention ( I can't stress enough how important that is). All in all I would highly recommend this facility. "

"We used New Haven for my respite care, and they have better knowledge of dementia patients. It seems like they can accommodate them better. The staff is very friendly. They have a family mantra where they want to keep the residents as close to their home routine as much as possible. You can visit any time, day or night. They also allow pets, although my mother didn't bring one. When I came back she said that she likes the people, they were all polite, and she enjoyed the food. They have activities, daily exercises and things like puzzles and bingo. They also have TV and social time. The only drawback is that their rooms do not come furnished. So for respite care that's difficult. They have a bed and a chest in storage, but we had a lot of things to bring besides the convenience of bringing just clothes."
