Staff goes through extensive training in dementia care both monthly and yearly.

Our average age of our residents are in their later 70s. BRC's residents enjoy volunteering in our senior living community, staying active with various physical, mental, and spiritual activities.

Located close to BRC's campus, San Angelo's thriving downtown area offers dining, shopping, and cultural activities.
What are some recent off-site events that the community activity director at Baptist Retirement Community has organized?
BRC's independent living life enrichment coordinator offers an array of on-site and off-site activities. We often take residents to the restaurants, exhibitions, fairs, musical events, plays and concerts.

Baptist Retirement Community does not have a chef or dining program but offers a full service restaurant, Main Street Cafe. This cafe offers an array of menu items including salads, sandwiches, soups, main entrees, and daily specials.

The common areas that are available for independent living residents include the high rise lobby areas, library, computer room, community rooms, beauty salon, gift shop, game rooms, wellness centers, chapel, clubhouses and Main Street Cafe.

Baptist Retirement Community has a full time safety officer on-site from 4 pm during weekdays until 8 am the next morning. This officer is also available on weekdays and holidays.

Yes, BRC allows pets in the independent living areas. Pets are not allowed in the healthcare areas.

Baptist Retirement Community is a continuing care retirement community. We offer independent living, skilled nursing, long term care, memory care assisted living, personal assistance services, and outpatient therapy. If a person needs more nursing and medical assistance, we have several campus options for them.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
During the day, we have two certified nurses aides in each home along with our director, life enrichment coordinator, and housekeeper. At night, we have two certified nurses in each house. The Crest is two small home model memory care assisted livings serving fourteen residents per house.

Our full time life enrichment coordinator offers many opportunities for our residents to stay engaged. She offers both onsite and offsite activities.

Our director, an RN, consistently does assessments including intake and monthly ones.

We offer a registered dietician along with staff that offers dignity and respect always but specifically during these times. They offer meal assistance during mealtimes.

Our staff is excellent at keeping families informed. We are always available to visit on their loved ones care.

BRC is a continuing care retirement community. If a resident needs a higher level of care, we offer Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center, a long term care area of our community for those needing nursing home care. This cutting-edge approach specializes in memory care assisted living and is specifically designed for those living with higher-functioning memory impairments. Since 2001, Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center has been providing memory care support to families and seniors living with memory impairment. Located on the south edge of the community, Sagecrest offers a calm, resident-centered approach to memory care in a more traditional setting.
