"The Noble Home is an assisted living facility in the Lubbock region that we visited as an option for our aunt. The exterior looked well maintained and there was plenty of outdoor seating for residents, friends and family to enjoy. The main rooms were all designed well, comfortable and homey. The residents could be seen enjoying a variety of activities, from reading to socializing or enjoying a game or a movie. The dining room was quaint and comfortable, with nice furnishing and nice lighting. The foods offered looked healthy and delicious, from a nutritious and varied menu. The residents may also order special meals as they desire. The exercise room had all of the typical options, plus a trainer comes weekly for varied and special classes. The library was well stocked and comfortable. The residents are taken to many interesting gathering and events around the area, such as concerts, shows, art galleries and other places. The staff at this facility are very kind and attentive to all of the residents and appear to easily adapt to all of their needs. "

"Angel's Arms Assisted Living facility in Lubbock was on our list to check out for our aunt. We liked the quaintness of it and that it is smaller than others we've seen. The owner is a Registered Nurse - whom we met and really liked. The main room as very nice and homey. The main sitting and living rooms were well designed and had nice furnishings. We saw seniors on the back porch enjoying themselves. Our aunt would really like to tend the lovely garden. The furnished rooms offered single or double occupancy and are nicely decorated, airy, fresh and bright. They all have adequate space for privacy. The chef prepared home style and nutritious foods and they offer an extensive and varied menu. The snacks are offered any time the residents desire them. They encourage all of the residence to participate in physical activities such as walks, and daily exercise. They also plan a variety of these types of activities daily and weekly. They host a weekly music hour with live musicians, show movies, conduct crafting, bake cookies and more. The game room features bingo, card tournaments, dominoes, and sewing projects. It was clear that the staff her really knows what they are doing --all are medically trained with a lot of experience. They all care deeply about the welfare of the residents and handle them with care, courtesy and kindness. "

"We went to see The Phoenix House in Lubbock while we were there scouting out assisted living facilities for our aunt. It looked well tended from the exterior. The interior rooms are all lovely -- from the foyer sitting room to the community and activity rooms. All were designed with senior access in mind. They have many events and socials scheduled, as well. The residents are treated to many invigorating and stimulating outings in and around the area. The dining areas feature nice furnishings and great looking and smelling home-style food that the chef cooks in a healthful way, matching any dietary need necessary. Residents may place special requests at any time. The snacks are available continuously. They also encourage guests to visit as much as they like. Many people from the community come to entertain and socialize with residents regularly. They provide individualized service plans for each resident, including exercise, and assistance with ambulation and personal care as necessary. It was clear that they keep the residents in mind first and foremost. This is a nice facility with well-cared for resident and a caring, kind and dedicated staff. "

"I moved my wife to a Mountain Top facility about three weeks ago. I have seen nothing but respect and love for her and her care. The meals are very good and my wife enjoys them. it is indeed a comfortable and Christian home like environment. The people that work there are very nice and they are friendly. I am always greeted with a smile!"

"I have put my parents at SouthHaven Assisted Living, and it’s wonderful. My parents are very close to the staff; any need we have, they take care of it. Mother needed a lot of care at first, but she is doing much better now. They help with toileting, brief changes, and bathing. They do housekeeping once a week, and Mother gets her hair done."

"My mom is at Sisters of Loving Arms Care Home. It's in the older part of Lubbock. They have large, beautiful homes in the area. This is an older home that probably could use a few updates, but the people are very nice. The staff is very nice, too. They only have 8 residents at a time, so they're able to give a little bit more personal care. In terms of activities, they have played games like dominoes or cards and played bingo at one time. My mom has a TV in her room, and she likes TV. But they don't take them to their appointments. The family has to take them to doctor's appointments. The dining room has one large table. The ones that can sit at the table, come to the table. But if you're not feeling good or you don't want to, they will serve your food to your room. It would be nice if they could get a little bit more activities. The place is clean. It could use some upgrading. But if my mom needs help with anything, she can just pull one of the strings and she has a thing that she wears on her neck sometimes that she can call them to come and help her."

"Cleanliness is important as well as care given, a smaller facility also a factor. Location is important to me.....this facility offered all of these. "

"We chose Beehive Homes of Lubbock because it doesn't have a lot of residents. I think they have maybe 10 to 12 residents there versus a nursing home, which has a lot more. My father-in-law's room is clean. It's perfect. It's like a one-bedroom apartment and it's very suitable. I haven't tried the food, but I met with the person who prepares the meals, and I like the part when you walk in the front door, you can smell the food they're preparing for the residents. It would be easy for my father-in-law to stay in bed all day, but I like that they make it a point to get him up and put him in a wheelchair. They have a TV room so some of them sit around and watch TV."

"My mom is a resident of Wedgewood South. I walked in and immediately felt so warm and fuzzy about the place. I was immediately greeted at the door by somebody who wanted to show me around and help me. I just dropped in unexpectedly. I didn't have an appointment, but she showed me everything that they have to offer. I was just blown away by how wonderful the staff members were. The facilities didn't smell. They were updated and were immaculately clean. It was just cozy. Her apartment is very nice. It's not huge, it's a studio apartment, but it's mid-sized. It has a little kitchenette with minimal kitchen capability, a sink, a microwave, and a refrigerator. They've got a little living area so she can watch TV in that little bedroom area that's kind of in the little alcove, so it's more private. She's got her own bathroom, which is beautiful. At home she had not been able to shower, just a sponge bath, and here she can take a shower and she's got people to help her do that. I think she likes it there. I have not tried the food, but my mother loves it. She's just getting so much more variety than she was giving herself at home, and she loves it. The facility is very nice. They have community dining, and it's kind of nice. Their community is divided into six sections, and each section has 12 apartments to it. The dining area is set up for the 12 residents, so they get to meet each other on a more intimate level. The staff members then just take care of those 12. They have a six to one ratio for nursing care, plus the medication nurse that works there. The setup is like nothing I saw, and that's what brought me to it because it was so individualized there. The cost is a little high."

"I went to The Legacy at South Plains. I felt the tour was hurried, but it was good. The staff was nice. The rooms were nice. It's like a little efficiency, but what's nice was the little kitchenette. They have a refrigerator in there. They have basic cable in the rooms. They allow cellphones and that's a very big positive to me because the other place did not allow cellphones. My brother gets to keep his cellphone. They have wi-fi, and they have cable. He'll have a little refrigerator where he can keep drinks in his room. He can keep snacks in there if he wanted. The memory care facility was much smaller than the other place. Just one little wing of the floor is the memory care. The main dining room where the assisted living people eat had tablecloths, and it was real nice. In the memory care at The Legacy, I didn't see any tablecloths or fancy stuff in the dining room. We saw some people playing volleyball balloon. The residents didn't seem to be interacting or talking much, but the facility was beautiful. I love the fact that they had cable. They can use cellphones. There's fridge in the room, and the bathrooms in the rooms were private, quite large, and nice. A big plus is (even the staff) everybody wears these little watches, and it totally tracks where everybody is at any moment. Whether you're memory care, whether you're staff, whether you're assisted living, they can find you. If you happen to leave your area, they can find where you are real quickly because they have these tracking watches. If somehow somebody from memory care happened to get out and escape, they would be able to track them and know that they had walked out the door."

"Isle at Raider Ranch was beautiful. They have such a long waiting list to get into assisted living, that it is recommended to go into independent living first so that you are kind of moved to the top of the list when there is an opening in assisted living. For us, they had a lot of opportunities in terms of activities. They had a pool table, dances, live music, and happy hours. Vanessa assisted us with the tour, and she was awesome. All the people there were incredible. They were so nice, helpful, and eager to give you any information that you need. In all honesty, all the residents were walking around with a smile on their faces and they seemed very happy. They also do have a lifestyle option that you can sign up for where you get three meals a day, you can have people come in upon your request to empty the dishwasher, make your bed every day, or fold laundry. If you don't feel like going to the dining room that day, they will bring your food to you. It's kind of in between assisted living and independent living. "

"I put down a deposit on Wilshire on 4th, and things are rolling along. My friend has a room and it's for memory care. It's a small facility. They have 16 rooms and they're all single rooms. It's one of the most affordable of the places that we talked to. They had a gathering room with a TV, and I saw several people there. It was 4:00, and there were several people in the dining room with activities at the time. The room was kind of small, but it's just one person in the room. It had a bathroom and a huge closet with a built-in dresser. The toilet and sink were in that area, but the shower was down the hall. Most falls happen in the shower, so there's always somebody in the shower with the residents. The lady who showed us around was very informative and asked lots of questions about the kind of care that my friend needed. They were open to everything that we needed. It was clean. Because it's a memory care place, the doors were locked. They have the licensing for locking the doors. They can't get out the door unless one of the staff members opens the door. They had the common area that was like a living room, and a common area that was like a dining room. There was a large backyard that I didn't really look at, but they mentioned that they take people out there and enjoy the sun."

"My mom was a resident at Wilshire. It was a beautiful place. The staff members were wonderful. They catered to the residents. The administrator and activities director were wonderful. Mother always complained about the food, it was institutional like any other, but it's good quality food. We highly recommend Wilshire to anybody because they were great."

"Tahoka Living Center (Lynnwood) is very close to where my mom was living. It is within ten to fifteen minutes of a lot of people that will go see her. The staff is very professional. She likes the food and gets around very well -- no complaints at all. Her accommodation allows her some privacy, and she has plenty of space; it is a perfect size for her. "
