We liked the Anthology of Denton very much. We liked everything about it. We needed a two-bedroom and they didn't have a two-bedroom, so Wayne put us on a waiting list. It was very clean, very updated, very spacious, well lit, and laid out very well. There were lots of different activity rooms that we noticed and they had a physical fitness room.
Even though we did not get to tour a two-bedroom, we did tour a one-bedroom and we liked it very much. The bathrooms were very large. The one-bedroom only had one bathroom, but we saw a floor plan for a two-bedroom and it had two bathrooms and the bathrooms were very large. The kitchen was very nice, and we really were impressed with how everything was laid out. The dining room looked nice and we got to read about the menus and they sounded good. We felt like that was a good match for us if we decided that we wanted to do that. Wayne, the man who helped us, said that he would put us on a waiting list for a two-bedroom under no obligation.
We did go to an information gathering back in early March, and they had refreshments and they introduced the chefs. The refreshments were delicious. That's the food that we sampled and that was party food but it was good. The dining area was well lit and had small tables. It's just a typical dining room. I don't remember anything outstanding, but it was nice. It looked very clean, and that's important.
The room had a living area, a kitchenette, one bedroom, a very large bath, it was handicap accessible, and the windows were nice and big. It was well lit, very clean, and very nice. They take people out to eat periodically, groups that want to go, and they have transportation to doctors' appointments if it's on a certain day. There are natural restrictions to that. They will even take a patient to the doctor and the family can meet them there at the doctor's office. I thought that was very convenient. They have happy hour periodically with music, refreshments, and beverages. They have art. They even have a theater room, and that's where they have church services and they have music going. A video was playing with people singing and there were a couple of residents there observing that. I was impressed.
They have an inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy program. It's in addition to the rent, but if a resident needed physical therapy, you wouldn't have to transport him to another location. Somebody right there in Anthology would be able to come in or the resident would go to the physical fitness center for physical therapy. I thought that was very convenient and that appealed to us.
It looked as if the facility had been well taken care of, had been updated, and was very clean. The one-bedroom apartment was spotless. Everything was very clean and looked very sanitized.
Everybody we met was very nice. Wayne was the one who was in charge of marketing and taking us on tours. Everybody that we encountered was very nice. We did meet the activities director and my husband is a singer and performer, and they had a nice discussion in the hall about how he could perform at the activities periodically. She seemed very organized. We were very happy with it. We could see ourselves living there if we decided that's what we needed to do.
