For the most part, the staff was friendly. The downside was the food. In the 10 days I was there I NEVER got a meal that was warm. Every meal was cold. The good part was the PT with Blackburn and English. They are the best and took every interest in your care. Thanks to both of you.

This facility has come a long way from where it has been. Staff were very attentive to answer my questions regarding my mom and her care. Nurses were great and super caring. Mom went home after therapy and has done so well. Therapists were very good as well to really strive for our discharge goals! I highly recommend this facility and so does mom. The only bad thing I can say is sometimes they were delayed in answering the phones after hours but mom had her cell phone.

I was very shocked when I visited my family member. The smell of urine hits you as soon as you open the door. I was shocked at how run down the facility is. The room has a tiny box style TV that is hard for my loved one to see. I can see they are understaffed, but when you call to inquire about your loved one, you shouldn't feel as if you are a bother. We have genuine concerns regarding their health. The evening shift employees are much more informative and they take a moment to answer questions. I do not like the non-existent phones in patient rooms. This facility needs to step up the cleanliness factor and the level of care the patients need.

I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone. Staff is rude, place is understaffed, and the people that run it are incompetent. When we inquired about removing my mother who was there for post operative therapy we were threatened by the social worker. They want to keep here for the full time that was approved regardless if she is capable of going home or not. We had to stay up there most nights because they wouldn't even respond when you hit the light on most occasion . One CNA even told us "we only get paid $8.00 an hour, we dont get paid enough to do this". They are only worried about 1 thing, making money.

I was so worried about my dad getting really good care. The employees at Newport Health & Rehab have been nothing but kind, and helpful. I call a couple times a day to check on dad and they are always so nice to me and answer my questions. Dad has said several times that they are nice and take really good care of him. Nicole has been superb! She has helped us with paperwork and setting up appointments and everything with insurance, and moral support (calming me!). I would def recommend this center! It’s clean, and the people there really took time to get to know my dad and us, and took such good care of him!

I have been to the center for rehab 3 times and except for the food they were very nice and never had trouble getting my meds. I would go back anytime.

RUN AWAY! That is what I would do if I EVER had to even visit this facility again. That is what I would advise any person THINKING about putting a loved one here. This place is deplorable - and I would not even put a dog I didn't like here. My aunt was treated so disrespectfully by the CNA named Kelly that got named 'employee of the month' - that was definitely a joke unless to be nominated your credentials are getting in the face of patients and yelling about how they aren't going to get their medicine! The PT and people who delivered the rotten food from the kitchen were kind but they had limited interaction with her. We were there and saw first hand how horrible it was. NO ONE came in and emptied the bedside commode for her and she had broken her femur in her right leg and was not allowed out of bed except with PT assistance. She had to try to eat with that sitting by her bed every day. She had to call and beg for her medicine most of the time and it was mostly the night shift nurses that were kind to her. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW SOMEONE YOU LOVE TO BE HERE FOR CARE. They need to be shut down!

In the most current year the positive changes in the facility is a welcome experience. The staff seen happier, there is no odor and the residents seem to be clean and content. I was very happy to see these changes!

The smell of urine is unbearable! There does not seem to be adequate staffing, the nurses are in too much of a hurry to take time to speak to you and quite frankly I was treated quite rudely.

If you like the strong stench of urine to great you when you walk through the door, this is the place for you. The place is dirty and lacking basic housekeeping. The staff is clueless and there seems to be no one that has a handle on anything. I would not board my dog here.

Newport Health and Rehab Center is definately not a place that I would advise to send a loved one. The facility itself is not very clean, I noticed urine on the toilet seat of a family friend's bathroom more than three times. There was also no toilet paper more than once. I have to say that the staff during the daytime are not very easy to get information from, however the night staff seemed more open to talking to us. Another huge problem we had was our friend's clothes coming up missing and twice we found his roommate actually WEARING our friend's pajamas. We finally deciede we needed to just take our friend's laundry home, wash it ourselves, then return it as needed to him. Not a good experience overall.
