How do mentally and physically challenged adults spend their days? This facility in Fayetteville, TN, gives these people a facility to attend everyday, Monday through Friday. They enjoy one on one training with trained staff working on their basic needs, such as communication, work skills, cooking, cleaning, feeding theirselves. Skills Development Services also has homes for some the people, which trained staff lives with them around the clock. How lucky are these folks to have caring people? Some of them would be stuck in nursing homes or state facilities which, in my opinion, does not help them expanded their minds. Skill Development Services also works with local employers to contract out work, so the mentally and physically challanged can earn money, while other employers hire these people to work at their facilities. Our local community is blessed and fortunate to have a day facility for the mentally and physically challanged. Some of the families rely on Skills Development to reinforce what they have been teaching their relatives. The staff are always kind and considerate, even when I stop in unannounced. How Great is That!!! I hope every community has a day facility and/or home facility that people can learn to expand their horizons!
