I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We had a bad financial experience with VLQ. My wife moved in on 6/12/24. The next day, VLQ wanted my wife out. We were told that she couldn’t use a Bi-Pap machine. VLQ claimed that they were given misinformation. VLQ never said who gave the misinformation. We surely didn’t. VLQ had the opportunity to speak with all of my wife’s doctors. My wife’s doctor said that the Bi-Pap machine could be used at home! I later learned that there is no problem with using a Bi-Pap machine in a PA Assisted Living Facility (ALF). Given that VLQ decided upon my wife’s arrival that they wanted her to move out immediately, and given that there is no regulatory issue using a Bi-Pap machine in a PA ALF, I believe that the admission fee should be refunded in this case. VLQ has refused to refund the money. Telling someone that they must move out upon arrival is very unkind, especially when there is no regulatory issue. Keeping the admission fee in this case in my opinion is wrong. Consumers beware. Steve McEvoy

My friend is now at Life Quest Nursing Center. It's better than some. The staff members who are not out of the agency seem to be good, but when they get them from the agency, they're just there for the paycheck. They provide three meals a day. The building itself is pretty good. They have a lot of activities every day. They have bingo, and play cards, and they pass a ball around.

Rooms are clean and roomy. Clothes are cleaned and hung up in closet. Best part is physical setting with plenty of room. Outside is available during decent weather. Staff has been marvelous. Also same staff for the 4 months my husband has been there. They share his activities. He is always spotless. My only concern is the lack of activities for these 16 folks other than a man singing and playing a guitar. Research needs to be done to see what amuses these folks.

My wife is now at Life Quest Nursing Center. She needs help getting in and out of bed. She has been there for three months now. She has a typical room. She lives by herself. It's not a private room, but they haven't put anybody else in with her. It's very clean. They clean every day. They have programs over there. They have bingo and singalong. If my wife is up to it, she does it. They have lots of programs. Every day, there's something different. They take care of everything.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother lived with me for more than 2 years. When her medical needs became more involved than what I could handle (I'm not a nurse), I placed her in LifeQuest nursing home. Huge mistake! On her FIRST NIGHT there, in the middle of winter, she got outside at night without a coat and when someone finally heard her banging on a window, they brought her in and sent her to the hospital. So much for security for patients. She walked with her walker for about 2weeks and then was placed in a wheel chair all day. Patients are given water each day and it is put in their rooms. My mother had dementia and could not realize she had water in her room. Even though she had a cup holder on her wheelchair and after repeated requests that they give her water, my mother was dehydrated and had frequent UTI's. Their care of patients with diabetes is atrocious! I took better care and control of her blood sugars than they did. She suffered from many many lows. She fell out of bed "trying to get to the bathroom" and broke her leg and hip. She had surgery and died a month later. There is so much more about her lack of care. How a place can justify charging her over $8,000 a month for this "care" is beyond me!

Always clean - no nursing home smell. Staff is very involved and caring with the residents. Transferred my loved from another home and I am extremely pleased with the care they are getting. Staff is always kind and sensitive.

I visited this facility

I visit family here often and am very pleased with the staff and how my family member is cared for. It is always clean and orderly. There are also an abundance of activities for those living there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

While no nursing home is ideal for those who must stay there, Life Quest is a very nice place. The facility is always very clean and the staff is very kind and attentive. There are always various activities going on throughout the day for the residents and throughout the building it is always decorated very nicely for the various holidays year round. They have Bingo for those who are able to play, as well as Sunday church services for those who would like to attend. They offer both private and dual occupant rooms. In the 15-20 times I have been there, I have had only positive experiences. Most nursing homes have that familiar 'nursing home smell', however, that is not the case with Life Quest. Overall if I had to send a loved one or even myself to a nursing home, I would want to choose a facility such as Life Quest.
