My visit to Oak Lane was nice, but the assisted living and independent living areas were too close together, and I don’t want to be reminded that I will end up in a wheelchair sitting in a hallway somewhere. They don’t have many activities going on. They showed me a room that had not been remodeled, and it wasn’t very nice. The wallpaper was coming off the walls, and it had worn out carpets. I did eat lunch there, and the food is outstanding.

I'm trying to get my uncle to get into Oak Lane Retirement Community. I've done a tour of the place already and I liked the fact that they've got big open rooms for groups to get together and plenty of nurses on staff 24/7 in case someone needs it. The staff was great but the building was old. They're doing some maintenance on it now and brightening it up, but it's not a bad building. It's very large and accommodating.

Thank you for your feedback and positive comments on our food. We work very hard to provide a comfortable and loving place for each person that lives here. Making the decision to move to independent or assisted living can be an overwhelming choice and we want to help people make an educated choice about which setting would best suit their needs. Many activities are offered throughout the day but we have found that holding them during mealtimes can be distracting. It is very important to us that everyone eats well and socializes with each other during mealtimes and then we normally conduct an activity soon after meals are over. We apologize that you were shown an apartment that was less than perfect. We have been renovating and upgrading many of our rooms in the recent months and would be happy to share them with you.
