I visited this facility

The rooms at Clay Gardens Place were slightly bigger. They had a little kitchenette in there (I think that's what made them a little bit bigger). The staff was friendly. They had a library, a TV room, and different activities going on. The residents seemed like they were content. It looked like a very good place.

I visited this facility

We did a tour of Clay Gardens Place and I found it to be a very nice place. I think that it would certainly meet my needs, but it was more money than I anticipated. It's not income-based, and that's really what I'm looking for, for myself. They take care of their residents well. The people who assisted during the tour were very nice. They insisted that we have lunch. We didn't want that, but they insisted. They brought it in, and I did eat a little bit of it, and it was very good. My aide ate her lunch completely, and I ate some of mine. It was very tasty, hot, and good. The common areas were very attractive. The rooms were very nice, clean, and well taken care of.

I visited this facility

We toured Clay Gardens Place. The staff was very attentive, and everyone was very nice and respectful. Overall, we were kind of impressed with the layout of the facility and the way it was set up. They had a little entranceway where the residents could put their own things out the way they wanted, and it was a nice way for them to personalize their living space.

I visited this facility

Clay Gardens Place was really nice. There were God-fearing people there. I liked it. The facility and the rooms were clean. They had activities such as church services. They were playing guitar and singing Christian hymns. When I got there they offered me a cup of coffee. That made an impression on me right there, like I was part of the family, and it was kind of family oriented too. Tracy went way beyond expectations of service. I was having a bad day that day, and I was getting ready to get an operation, and she took me to the hospital after I got done there. I was able to accomplish everything I needed to do that day. They were not only worried about my housing, but they also looked after my health, and that was a blessing from God. I don't mind giving them a five-star rating because they really did look out for me. The people there looked pretty healthy, so I'm sure they fed them pretty good. The people were excellent to me. The spirit there was very Godly. There was no negativity at all. There were no people complaining about how they were being treated or anything like that.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in Clay Gardens Place. It's excellent. She has a private room. They take care of all of her needs. They do her laundry and her housekeeping. They take care of her medications and prepare all of her meals. The people are great. I haven't had any trouble with any of them. The food is good. I've been staying here for a couple of weeks with her because she was ill. They don't provide 24-hour care. We're looking for nursing or memory care, and they don't provide that care here. We are responsible for setting up her prescriptions and stuff, but they take care of making sure that she gets all of her medication on time. They deliver her meals to her room. They have exercise facilities, and they have a courtyard in between the buildings that is secure so that nobody can get in without checking in. The residents can't get out of the secured area. They've recently upgraded and hired more staff. Everything seems to be in order and works fine. I just got a new calendar for all their activities. The value for money is more than acceptable for what they provide.

My mom stayed at Clay Gardens Place for 1 month, and it was a very nice place. It had activities and all that good stuff from church. They had a full list of things they did every day. They had milkshake days, movie days, and game days. The staff was very nice. The food was great. They had salmon and fish, which I thought was very good. There was a fireplace, and they had a nice dining room.

I visited this facility

Clay Gardens Place's rooms were spacious, roomy, and clean. The place is a little smaller, but it was nice. The dining room was roomy, open, and had nice tablecloths on the table. The staff was super nice. They have a puppy, which was running around, and it was really cute. The building was nice, but it was a little bit more walking for residents since it wasn't a straight shot to the rooms. Instead you have to walk around. The people had stuff decorating the outside of their apartments. They have a nice garden area with a grill where people can come with their families.

Navigating care for an aging parent is super hard. My mom requires care that my sisters and I can’t provide in our homes, so 5 years ago we entered the senior care world. We were naive and clueless. Sadly, many assisted living/nursing home leaders put profit over people. Over time we are learning what questions to ask and how to navigate our way through Medicare, VA grants, care levels, etc. In the midst of the messy, we have found incredibly amazing allies in the team at Clay Gardens Place. Of the various places mom has lived in Louisville and here, the Clay Gardens team has been the most caring, compassionate and considerate group of administrators, aids, nurses, food service personnel, etc. for my mom. In the almost 2 years she has lived there, I felt like they really cared for her, but to be honest, I’ve been hesitant to believe it because of experiencing insincerity at other places. But over the past few months we’ve had to navigate new challenges and I have been happily surprised by the personal attention they have given our family to make sure my mom is cared for respectfully and affordably. If she can’t be on Ramona Lane (the place she lived for 52 years), I’m glad she has this special place to call “home."

I used them for respite care for two weeks. My mom has been there before. The staff was very good, and they took care of her.
