Residents act as a unit. They are supportive and discuss positive aspects of living here, as well areas where improvements can realistically be made. If you live here and you are bored, it is of your own doing. Living apartments are very good, and you are told to treat your apartment as hour home, and do what you would do if you were living in your former home. Maintenance staff is quick with requests. It was a decision to move here was made after investigating other independent living facilities in the area. Downtown is great to be near.

I liked Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber. There are three different buildings with three different names in the independent living. The two buildings are new. There's nothing about it that I didn't like. Maybe parking would be kind of a problem. We went through some very lavishly furnished, unbelievable units that have some very vibrant older people doing all kinds of activities. They have a pool. They're going to have a second pool. They're constantly updating and fixing things. They have an indoor shuffleboard, a game area, and a library. The Columbus Metropolitan Library comes there every week or so and brings more books and people request books from the library and they bring them. They have just every kind of activity you could imagine. They don't have the actual best food arrangement. It's a buy-in community and so you can have a little bit cheaper monthly rent, but it's expensive to buy in. Also, you get $100 worth of free meals a month. They're fine with cooking in their own units because they've got nice kitchens. You wouldn't have to go to a lunchroom to eat all your meals. It seems to me to be a very worthwhile place. They gave us a nice salad with chicken and it was good. It's a nice facility. It has excellent views of downtown and because it's a buy-in, you never leave. They have a memory care facility. They have a hospital-type community area, so you don't ever have to leave there as you age and run out of money. There are two places where you can garden yourself. They have areas where you can sign up and get a raised bed. The people there also grow herbs and you can just go down there and cut your own herbs anytime when they're ready. There's a garden club that takes care of all of that. They have committees. You can join any committee that you want to join. These committees deal with the management. If they want to have a program or they have an idea that they'd like to start doing some sort of program, they all get together and make that decision and then they run it by the management. If you have a problem with something, your peers who live there in the place make those decisions. They request this and that. There's nothing that could be better than the way it's run. It's nice.

During a very difficult time in my families life, the care was above and beyond compare . Attention to the needs of the patient, both medically and emotionally was impeccable. Rooms were clean and orderly, additional family members were treated with the best of respect in tough circumstances. The culture is the best by far.

I have been shocked at the treatment my grandpa received. It got to the point where he wouldn’t even press his button for NEEDED help because the staff treated him so terribly. It was also a nightmare getting him removed. Official complaints have been filed with state offices. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.

Have ignored grandpas call button leaving him dehumanized when he had to use the bathroom and no one came. Several occurrences. Ignoring basic needs. Admin staff lying about his condition, trying to discharge him before he’s ready and making it impossible for us to transfer somewhere else. Avoid this place at all costs.

I can't recommend this nursing home. Our family friend was not happy during her stay. They are shorthanded on help and calls don't get answered for a long long time. Her food was cold and tough to eat. The food servers and nurse assistants were complaining about their jobs and pay in dining room. There was a stale and bad odor in the bldg. The only good point is the animals pets walk around freely. That part was good.

The therapy people at Westminster Thurber Community seemed great. They provided great assistance to help people become a little more mobile and helpful in their lives. I was just there for two weeks. For the most part, they're accommodating. The food was fair. and the dining area seemed to have nice lights and windows. They had activities. The residents saw movies, they had Bingo and card games, and they had some outings that some people went to. I was there for rehab and I was receiving IV medication.

Ohio Living Westminster was chosen as the 2016 retirement center. They are right downtown on Neil Ave, so it’s very close to anything that you would ever want, like the museums, the theater, ballet, and the symphony. They opened the second building within the last year and had assisted living up to memory care. The apartments were very nicely done. I looked at a onebedroom and one-bedroom plus a den. They had a swimming pool in the basement of one of the buildings. I was very impressed.

My father is in Westminster-Thurber Community now. We chose this facility because of the recommendations that I received from others. It's a very good facility. I like it a lot. Their staff is excellent. They're attentive. Their rooms are small but that's to be expected. They're very nice. I have no complaints whatsoever. Food is very good. They also have lots of activities for their residents; however, my father doesn't take part in them. Overall, however, I think my father is happier there. I would recommend this place to others.

As a loved one having a family member residing at this center in their "Bridgewater" secured unit,I feel they provide adequate care for my loved one.

I have a friend staying at Westminster. It has a variety from independent senior living to total assisted nursing care. It is a full service community. It is very large. It has multiple building and it's quite nice. I like their full range of services available and if you need more care or less care, the availability to move from area to another. My friend has a standard one-bedroom apartment with sitting room area. They have lots of activities to offer. The staff is very helpful. They have no problem with the staff that I have contact into. My friend is happy there and I recommend them to others.

Westminster-Thurber is a high-rise facility. Their rent is pretty much comparable to the other facilities I had visited. They have two different apartments with balconies, one overlooking a parking lot and the other one overlooking the interstate. The rooms in their apartments are much smaller. With regard to food, they have restaurants in the vicinity where you can buy your food.

I visited this facility with a family member who was at the time searching for a retirement community to call home. Westminster-Thurber is in a lovely area of Columbus; it is a short walk from Goodale Park, the Short North, right next to Giant Eagle grocery store, and is even right across the street from a fenced in dog park. The grounds at the facility were quite small, however it is so close to many parks and recreational areas that the property size is not much of an issue. The rooms in Thurber Tower are quite cozy; the one bedrooms are smaller than what my family member was used to in her current one bedroom apartment but were kept up quite well. The staff seemed friendly enough and it was comforting to know that the facility is very close to several hospitals in the Columbus area (Mount Carmel, Ohio State, Grant, etc.) Overall, I thought it was a very lovely community considering it is in an urban environment, but my family member decided to reside elsewhere because of how busy the area is. During our visit to Columbus, the Short North had been celebrating ComFest, a street fair in the Goodale Park area. The area was packed, there were people walking everywhere at all times of the day, and it was just too hectic and stressful for my family member, who was told that Goodale Park often has fairs like that during the warm months. While many retirees enjoy fairs and such, she was searching for something a little calmer.

Upon arrival to Westminster assisted living, the first thing that i noticed is how tall the building is, It reminded me of a High rise. i walked in there is People everywhere. The grounds are neatly kept. however the public restrooms were Nasty they were disgusting. I could not find help when my Grandpa fell. The staff are suppose to be there and at the day that i had vistited. the Supervisor over my Grandparents told me that they were short staffed and that if i needed anything or if my Grandparents needed anything i would have to do it for myself or do it for them. I said we pay you guys alot of money for them to stay here and you give such crappy service. I told the lady i was going to report her to the BBB. So she did not seem to care and then she did not want to do anything. she was not busy all she was doing was sitting behind the counter on her butt. and there were other residents that need help if i was to write a review of this facility i would have to say that i am not impressed what so ever. The Management of this place is Terrible. I would not move my dog in this place for doggy daycare that is how horrible this place is.

Grandma recently moved to the Westminster-Thurber Community, and to her own surprise, loves it. She has called us to say thank you for suggesting the move, despite her initial hesitation towards the idea. Her medical concerns are treated promptly by the caring staff, and they communicate any issues thoroughly with our family. When we visited, I was very impressed by the facility's modern, cozy look, and the friendliness of the staff and the residents. We would recommend Westminster-Thurber to any family.
