"I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of this particular assisted care facility. The staff was impeccably professional and helped my father through a difficult time. They treated him with dignity and respect, and were always there when he needed assistance. The facilities were beautiful, comfortable, and well-designed. My father was even impressed by the food that was served. Since my father is severely handicapped, it was important to us to find an assisted care facility that could truly take full care of him and not leave him by himself for very long. The staff did not disappoint us. They were always available for my father when he needed assistance with anything (even if he did something small, like drop a book and not be able to pick it up). The staff always completed such tasks with a smile and never made him feel as if he was a burden. One staff member in particular sticks out (I will not mention her name). This particular person was always very helpful and attentive. She made sure that not only my father was taken care of, but myself as well if I was visiting him. If I ever need to make the decision to put someone in an assisted care facility again, I will surely choose Breckenridge. "

"The Campus of Anna Maria of Aurora is one of the two best memory care units that I saw within 10 miles of my house. They provide true memory care. The only drawback was that the rooms were so small that only one bed/single bed can go in there. My in-law would have to sleep in two separate rooms, which we didn't prefer. On the end of the building, they just built four brand new one-bedroom apartments, where it can handle a husband and a wife, plus you've got an extra bedroom (not just a studio, but an actual extra bedroom)."

"I'm in Wesleyan Meadows of Sheffield Village and it's been great. I'm in the independent living section and have no help or anything. I just moved in here about 3 weeks ago, but I have been kind of active, in some of the activities like going out to dinner and painting. They play cards too so we talk there and we communicate. The staff at the office and the maintenance people are wonderful. We don't get food, we have our own place and we cook our food. It's just a nice and quiet community if you want peace and doing things at your own pace. No one tells you what to do. It’s a nice place for somebody who doesn't need assistance. "

"My wife just came back from Wesleyan for two months for rehab. I’m happy with it, and my wife was happy with it. The place is clean. The people are very helpful and very nice to us. There were no problems in communication. "

"Overall, my experience with Rockynol was very positive. My family made the difficult decision to have my Grandmother placed there when she had advanced Alzheimer's and we could no longer care for her at home. Rockynol was clean and nicely decorated, and the floor my Grandmother was placed on was specially suited for Alzheimer's patients, with other patients who were similarly impaired. Since she was still mobile and talkative, but we could no longer care for her at home, it was wonderful to have a facility that could provide her the care she needed, but did not seem sterile or hospital like. When my Grandmother deteriorated further, she was moved into a comfort care room. It was nice that she didn't have to be moved to a hospital or a different facility in her last days, but rather was still in the same facility and therefore did not have the confusion or upset of a move. The staff was kind and caring, and several had specialized training and experience in dealing with Alzheimer's patients, which made them ideal in caring for my Grandmother. "

"My mother is currently at Kendal at Oberlin. It's fantastic. It's everything anybody could want in a community. The food is delicious and the portions are the right size. There's a nice waitstaff there in the dining room. They make food to order. It's excellent. The room is generous in size. The bathroom is large and permits a wheelchair to move around. There's an attentive staff that's there around the clock. It runs the gamut. They have painting classes, an active library and book club, and theater programs. Because it's in a college town, there are a lot of college faculty there who will give lectures. There are musical recitals and performances because there's a conservatory in Oberlin. It's an active community."
