"Richmond Heights Place was new, it's clean, and it's a lovely area. The staff there was very accommodating, full of information, and very helpful. I spoke with the cook and they were very proud of their food service. They have social activities with the residents, but there is no swimming pool, gym, or any of those kinds of things. The dining was very nice and they had a courtyard. The grounds were beautiful. The cleanliness was excellent. There was fast food available close by, and there was a hospital probably 20 minutes."

"The young lady that showed us around Brookdale Gardens at Westlake did a wonderful job. Kim was very helpful and knowledgeable, and I was very impressed with her. She made us feel like it would be a good place for my dad to live. We were very impressed with the facility as well. It just seemed like a very caring, comfortable, and warm place. It wasn't too large and it was cozy. The residents there looked happy and everybody was very friendly."

"I toured Vitalia Active Adult Community North Olmsted. The staff was very nice, very accommodating, and very informative. I liked the food choices and the way that meals were set up, where they could do kinds of things on their own, but it would be much better for someone younger than my friend, being that she was 95 and couldn't really see a lot and can't get mobile herself, and she's kind of dependence on an attendant. The facility was very clean. It wasn't as social and kind of homey because they have availability to go around as they please, and my friend wasn't able to do that. They have that open room concept and she does not like that."

"I went to the Deaconess-Zane Center where my friend lives. When you walk in you walk into an entry hallway and a living room. The room is not like a normal-sized living room. It has a big picture window and an air conditioner. The kitchen is small. It has a nice-sized bathroom. The bedroom has a walk-in closet. There is a storage closet in the hallway for your blankets or whatever you want to use it for. They make a hot lunch for them and have crafts, too. They have a lady who comes there and does the hair. There's one block up the public library, and beside it is a medical building. The staff was very helpful. Outside the building the grass is well taken care of and well-maintained. They have a maintenance man onsite."

"I went to Heritage at Seven Hills. It was a great neighborhood. It was more of a group home. Everybody was under one roof. It was kind of like having roommates, which was a good thing. I met a couple of the staff and their activities director, and I could see where everybody kind of came together all at once, so that was nice. It's a good environment. I like their common areas where everybody can come and congregate. You can see that they socialize more. The socialization was intimate. I think that will be good in memory care. Because it was like a house, it was beautiful. You can tell that they really take the time to make it a homey atmosphere for the residents, so I liked that part. They made it so you can decorate your room differently, which was nice."

"The other place on our top two is Judson Park. We are very familiar with Judson Park because my mom was there, and we have friends who are there and if we decided to stay in Cleveland, that's where we would go. They're flexible in terms of allowing you to combine apartments if you want to. They have outings to the symphonies, they have music on site, they have a little art studio, they have a little fitness center, and they are one of the ones where you pay an entrance fee. They have a continuing care facility. I've eaten there, and their food is good. We have friends who live there, and so we go and have dinner with them periodically in their independent living. We get to see their apartments and talk to them about how they like it. They're all very happy there. The staff members have been very good and very patient with us as we looked at different things."

"My sisters and I are very pleased with Park Creek. Our dad is happy and well taken care of by a terrific staff. He has all of his own furniture and belongings, so it really feels like HIS home. He says the food is good and everyone is very nice. What a relief for us to know that he is safe and well taken care of. I did not rate the activities as he has not participated in any as of yet. Thank you Park Creek!"

"I'm going to choose Shaker Gardens Nursing & Rehab Center for my uncle because that was the only one I kept calling that would accept him. The place was good, they're nice and everything and it looked like any other ones I've been to. The staff was good because they explained everything and they were nice, I don't see anybody mistreating anybody. In terms of cleanliness, I didn't see any nasty stuff lying around, nothing like that."

"My mother will be moving into McGregor. I was happy. We felt very welcomed. There were a lot of amenities there. McGregor PACE provides some other services for my mother, so this will put her closer to those services and also align her as she gets a little older with assisted living and those things. She will be in an independent living apartment at McGregor and because it's independent living, she will be able to cook her own meals and things of that nature. She won't have food service. They have field trips, they have a laundry room onsite and there's no charge for that, and there is a weekly hair appointment. There's a person that comes to do their hails and nails, and she can sign up for those things. The independent living building that she will be in is in the same complex as assisted and nursing, so the good thing about that again is if she gets to that point where she needs additional help, she doesn't have to change her community. They're right on that same campus and transition as needed. The staff is very helpful. The facility is clean. The room has just been remodeled, so everything is nice, new, clean, and fresh."

"My wife is at East Park Retirement Community. It is fine. She has been there for two years. They take good care of her and the food is good. They keep everything clean. Everybody seems to be very cordial and seem to be doing everything that is expected of them. They are all friendly, knowledgeable, and they seem like they are doing their jobs well. I have not been there during activities for people in the memory care unit, but I know that they have Bingo and a few other activities available. She has her own apartment/ They come in and clean the apartment twice a week and they do the laundry. I have been in there several times and everything is clean. This is one of the cheaper places and I have talked to other nursing homes and their rates were higher. It seems like it is okay compared to the other nursing homes."

"Chippewa Place is a hidden gem! My best friend of 50+ years joined the community a few months ago and he couldn't be happier. I visit all the time and everyone is so friendly and upbeat. The Director is dedicated beyond she gives her personal cell to every resident and their families (and friends!) and ensures everyone feels safe and welcome. They also recently hired a new chef who everyone loves. Included in the base rate is also a 24/7 on site concierge that is available for any issue or emergency. It's unusual to find a place that has this level of services at such an affordable price."

"I live in Westwood Place, a senior apartment in Strongsville. Everything is well-kept, and it's clean. The apartments are very nice, well-appointed, and have all the appliances you need. The staff is lovely. They're wonderful people, kind and considerate. They have rules for us to follow, and they're not unreasonable rules. The maintenance people are good. They come when they're called and there are things to be repaired or looked at. The office people are accommodating and kind. They are very nice people. They have several events, too. They offer us things to do in groups for different parties, celebrations, and just get-togethers. They encourage participation in events that they provide. There's a bus that takes people around to different restaurants, for example, or a tour of an area, if a person wants to take advantage of that. They encourage us to come down to the lower floors to meet each other for coffee, conversation, and card games. They don't provide very much food. What they do in the morning is they offer pastry, coffee, and orange juice, that kind of thing. There's a toaster and cold cereal if you'd like to do that. It's limited, but they occasionally have parties like they did a couple of days ago, when they had a summer party, and they fed us wonderful meals. There was chicken, potato salad, and baked beans. We have special occasions periodically."

"Regina Health Center had a very solid staff professionally for the nursing and skilled care, and then their rehab and exercise program -- my mom broke her hip in three places and she's 91 -- worked her very well for the six or so weeks, and got her back occupationally -- understanding how to open things, how to get to the bathroom, how to navigate around the house and that kind of thing. She still does her exercises that they were doing twice a day with her in the rehab and the exercise program. The staff was run by the sisters, so it was a good environment for her. The cleanliness was top-notch. It was fairly religious, and there was a lot of retired priests that were there and a lot of sisters that either were retired or going to rehab there of the Catholic faith, so it was a great environment. The food that she had and the care was good, so there was no complaint from our end. "

"My parents visited several, and Concord Reserve was where they felt most at home. It's very bright and welcoming. The people are really, really kind and caring. It's fairly new, so that was a plus as well. It's very clean, and it's just a really, really lovely place. They have several activities going on. They have speakers that come in. They have music, entertainment on certain nights, movies, and Wii bowling. They have a fitness center, and they have a guy that gives them twice a week workouts. There's yoga. They have outings for lunch and other activities like that. They have cards and bingo. Those are the ones my parents have participated in so far. The food is good. My parents enjoy it. It was very good for us."

"We visited the Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, and that's the only one we're interested in for now, because it's very close to our daughter. The tour went very well. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and very informative. They have quite a selection of floor plans. They had condos, ranch homes, apartments, and townhouses. It all depends on what you're interested in, but we only saw a ranch home, and it was fine. The facility was very clean. They have a pool, some PT, exercise area, and some other things. It's not pretty big, but what we saw was fine, and you get dining facilities."
