I'm on a waiting list at Schnurmann House. It's like being around a lot of other seniors who are also pretty independent. They have different programs of interest for the seniors. They have everything, like your laundry room, a beauty shop on premises, and transportation. The apartments have a nice layout. They have one and two-bedrooms units, so singles and couples can live there. It really has appealed to me. I've known over maybe the last 10 years a couple of people who were living there who came to our church, and they were very happy. I've never heard anything negative. They don't provide food. The kitchens in the apartments are big, so you can provide your own food. It's nonsmoking, which is good. Any time I've been around there, the grounds as well as the buildings looked very well kept. The maintenance was good. My friend needed to call him once or twice, and they were right there to help her out. It's not overwhelmingly crowded with lots and lots of tenants. They're also low-rise or maybe garden apartments. They only have three floors, and they have balconies for quite a few of the suites. There's a variety of activities. You can invite family members or your grandchildren to watch a magic show. They have activities maybe every week. There's plenty to stimulate everybody. They want to keep their seniors busy doing things, so that's good. Their set prices for the rent are lower than most of the apartments in the whole city, and they are more comfortable, and if you qualify financially, they can get you assistance.
