"We are all adjusted at Sanders Senior Living Community. My parents have been there since April, and we're very happy with it. It's an amazing facility. It's been fantastic. The staff has been amazing, and the administration has been amazing. The onsite physicians have been right there to take care of every need. My parents love the food. It's just a wonderful facility, and I would recommend it to anybody that needs a place for their parents for assisted living. They lost their main chef the first week my parents were there, and they're trying to get that back together. Most places you walk in and there's always a certain smell, but this place is clean, smells fresh, and just topnotch. I've seen the activity list for the month. They always have it posted and there's always something for them to do. Assisted living is expensive, so it would be great if it would be a little bit cheaper than what it was, but it is what it is."

"I chose Walter Reed Convalescent & Rehab because they have a very good memory care system. We toured the place, everything came out really nice, and they had some very good people there. My mom is happy, healthy, and doing as well as can be expected in this community. There aren't very many amenities and activities since these people are quite far along in their dementia and their mental state doesn't allow for much. But they're kept clean, their rooms are neat, and the food is good. They're good about taking care of people. They feed them, make sure their diapers are changed, and the place doesn't smell. It's just a small unit, but there's quite a few nurses, so everybody kind of has their own person. When you walk around, the main door can't be opened unless it's from the outside, so it's very secure, plus they have ankle bracelets. The place is a nice brick building and it's well-heated and air-conditioned."

"Envoy of Williamsburg is where my mother is right now. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. My mom seems to like the food. It’s in a nice location. It looks like they are trying to remodel and redo it, but nothing is great about it at this time. "

"When my brother moved from CT in 2010 into a Windsor Meade Villa, it left my 97 yr.old mother alone in her CT home of 60+ years. We were fortunate enough to move her from there into an assisted living apartment at Windsor Meade. We found a caring and supportive staff and were able to personalize her apartment so that it felt like home. The public rooms were spacious and well decorated and offered views in all directions. There were just enough activities to keep her occupied and medical help and physical theraphy were readily available. The food was nicely prepared, although some portions were too large for her. Independent Living residents came and read to her and took her to activities. She was also able to go to the main dining room for Sunday Brunch with my brother and with my family when we visited. Her quality of life in her final 3 years was excellent. Our experience with my mother, and reports from my brother encouraged us to move into a Villa the minute we retired. This has been an excellent experience for us since 2018. "

"My wife is now at York Convalescent Center. This is her fifth visit there, and I'm very comfortable with the facility, the staff, and the care that they render. I have no complaints. I have tried the food. I won't say it's excellent, but it's good. They offer options, so diets can be tailored. They're trying to please a whole lot of different people with different tastes, and they do a pretty good job of it. They have a full calendar of activities. There's something different going on every day."

"Williamsburg Landing is very unique in that when you drive in, you feel like you are driving into a gated residential community. It doesn't feel like a business. There are multiple neighborhoods within the campus that all have a little different look to them architecturally. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, pickelball and bocce courts and a large health club & spa. Really outstanding facilities, wonderful people and financially sound! Great healthcare too! A must see if you are looking for quality and class!"

"I would not recommend Riverside Convalescent center, it’s not very clean, and the odor was horrible. They don’t keep the patients clean. The left side of the hall was horrible, and the odor was sickening; however, the right side of the hall was not too bad. "

"The staff at Regency Health and Rehabilitation was friendly, and the rooms were nice. It's a beautiful community, and they're almost finished with their renovations. It's worth taking a look at. I would've picked them if it hadn't been for the distance from where I live, and because it was more expensive than others."

"We chose Warwick Forest Retirement Community for my mother. We just liked that it was very organized. It was clean and smelled good. It had lots of different choices of things to do. It had a nice little fish tank and a nice little bird finch cage you can go look at. The rooms are pleasant. My mother's also in hospice, so they have hospice people that come in and out a lot. You have to have a lot of patience with her. The food is very good. They have art classes and reading book clubs. You can get in the little van and go places like the mall, the bank, and a lot of other places. They gave a book for the month, and all the different things you can do for the month. They have a birthday social. My mom's just not one to participate. We would get more out of it if she were a participant, but if you were to live there and be social and go out and eat and talk and do the activities, definitely you're getting what you're paying for. The care has been good. The room size is good. The layout is not real conducive, like the TV cable is on one side of the room. Then, where you put the bed for them to be able to access the emergency pull thing is on the opposite side of the room. The TV is pretty far away from the bed. Therefore, you have to turn the TV up loud, and then your neighbors can hear because it's against the wall. We rearranged it. We got a longer cable and moved the table closer to the bed."

"Our friends are residents of Patriots Colony at Williamsburg. They're very good. It's easy to travel around. It's well-lit. It's safe. It's gated. It's beautifully landscaped and they have nice amenities and so forth. I think it's great. The place is immaculate. The staff, when we drive by, they wave. We've never had any direct contact with staff, but our friends say that whenever they call for maintenance or anything, they're there within 24 hours. They do serve food, but we've never eaten with them, but our friends, they all go. They all go there and they say it's good. They serve wine at dinner and everything. The ones that we have visited have some rooms and then they have a den, a living room, and a dining room. They have two bedrooms, two beds, and a kitchen. It's a small kitchen, but the refrigerator, dishwasher, and trash compactor, it's well and nice. The woodwork and everything else are upgraded. It's top-end. They take them on trips. I've seen tennis courts. It was expensive for them to buy into that and for the square footage that they have. It's not small, but I just thought you didn't get that back."

"Spent some time in rehab recently after having a leg amputated. Both the therapy and nursing sections treated me like and lord and catered to all my needs caringly, professionally and with great dignity. I am now home and getting along excellently due in large part to their help. "

"I was looking mostly for independent living, and that's the focus at Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury. There's more independent living than others. It's not assisted living with a few independent living stuck on. It's more independent living with assisted living, nursing care, and memory care added on. I just visited there recently, and I have visited some other places, but that was the one I liked. What I like about them is that they offer a lot of programs and activities for people who are still independent. There are also a lot of different living options even within the independent living category. They offered us lunch, so we had lunch there during the tour. The building was very up-to-date. It was well taken care of, it was warm but modern, and it was very clean. They have a library, a gym, and an indoor heated swimming pool. They have a lot of different craft rooms, hobby rooms, and outdoor areas like the outdoor gazebo. There are even walking pads. There are several different rooms in the gym, where one is a weight room and one has different machines. They also have exercise classes."

"Riverside Rehabilitation Hospital was awesome. My wife was there for two weeks and it was a wonderful place. I liked how attentive they were to her needs and everything was geared around getting her out, up, and mobile. The food had great portions and great variety with fresh fruits. All staff from the four areas that we focused on were wonderful, that includes the physical therapists, the occupational therapists, the speech pathologist, and the nursing staff."

"My mom stayed at Newport News Nursing & Rehab. The facility was open and airy. The bathrooms had old tiles, but they cleaned it the best they could. The staff was great and if we had questions or needed assistance, they were there to help. They had a therapist who came to my mom's room and played games with the people in a large room. They did movie nights, TV programs, and dancing, so that was great."

"Can't say enough good things about the health care unit at the Chesapeake. My dad, who was a Chesapeake resident in both independent & assisted living, had to be admitted into the health care unit several times. Every nurse, administrator, assistant, housekeeper and every other health care unit staff member was professional, cheerful, and always at the ready to do all that was necessary. My dad died in that wing, but not after all that could be done for him had been done by that loving staff. They also did everything they could to keep me informed and comforted. What a great group!"

"Elite Eldercare has very nice,well-kept houses. Each person has their room that opens up to the little porch to the side. It is almost like a private home with several residents living there and a nurse’s assistant. Somebody is there with them at all times. The facility is very nice and very clean. They cook their own food there. Not everybody has a kitchen; there's just one main kitchen. Each one has their own room with TV. I thought it was very nice. They have 2 bathrooms on the bottom floor. I didn’t go upstairs, but they have rooms up there with bathrooms. "

"I remember coming here during my HS days. We IBers (the program we were in at the time) had taken on projects to hep our community. We could tutor younger children, help clean up other areas around town or hang out with the elderly. Over this time period I visited a few centers, reading to the persons who lived there. At The Newport, I felt as if the staff were there, or rather wanted to be there. They weren't smiling because they had to in front of visitors, you saw it in their care of their residents. A simple smile in the nurses voice towards the gentleman I recall watching TV with in asking which team was winning that day put a smile on my face. She didn't have to ask him anything but she did. In fact in observing the staff it was readily apparently they saw their residents as people not more mouths to feed, bath and babysit. It was a very classy place in my opinion. "

"My friend is in Sentara Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The staff seems great. The room is large enough for a wheelchair set in there and large enough to do a little exercise with her. It has a bathroom with shower in it. The food seems to be pretty good. My visit there is fine. The place is nice and clean. It is very nice. The waiting room up front is nice. You will not see any trash on the floor, and the floor is shiny. If I have to go, I will go there. "
