"My parents have an apartment in the main building and have lived there for the past several years (since it's opening). We have found it to be a wonderful place with caring, attentive staff, tons of activities (they frequently invite us and the grandkids for shows/concerts/movies that are top-quality). My Dad is on the Bocce Ball team as well as the wood-working group. They stay active in the gym which is world-class- one of the olympic teams practices there due to the type of machines...not sure what it is, but they are top notch as well as the pool! This is a very high-end retirement community and has some of the best staff/chefs! I have worked in about 27 nursing homes/communities, so I've seen a variety of them when I was in my clinical job; so I speak from experience. I would highly recommend Windsor Meade to anyone...my parents have been very happy there!"

"Patriots Colony at Williamsburg's staff is fine. They have convalescent care and assisted living, and they have private apartments coming up. The apartments were OK compared to others that I have visited. At the time, we were only looking at single bedroom apartments in assisted living. It's convenient because it's just a short ferry ride away. "

"Sanders Retirement Village was very nice, clean, bright, and very homey. All rooms were single occupancy, not shared rooms, and very roomy and well lit with nice furniture and private bathrooms. They had a lot of activities, but I think they should include more physical activities because most of them were lectures and movies. My dad was more interested in physical activities like bowling and other games. The facility was in a very nice setting within a beautiful neighborhood a block away from downtown Gloucester, so it's very convenient for the residents. The staff was very nice. I would recommend this facility. "

"Warwick Forest Retirement Community was lovely. They have a lot of amenities like a nice big library, a pool, and a workout room. That would be my first choice, but you have to pay a lot upfront and then you have to pay a lot every month. The rooms were nice, though. When we first moved into this area, my husband and I looked at their beautiful little cottages. They'll move you there and paint the walls, which would be very accommodating if you have the money. It's also in a pleasant setting. It's wooded, grassy with walking paths, benches, and so on. It was very nice. The lady who did the tour was very nice, very knowledgeable, and not pushy."

"I was attracted to The Chesapeake because there wasn't a single negative comment about it. Also, the reason I’m moving there is to be closer to friends and family. I have a one-bedroom, small apartment. They have a library area, a fitness room, and swimming pool all under one roof. They have a dining room and also a cafe. They provide us one meal a day that comes with the fee, but you can get more if you want. "
