"The people at Westminster were very friendly, good to their employees, and the employees were good to the residents. They had nice programs, including educational programs which I would be interested in. It’s like a whole city in one big building. The Richmond Symphony comes quite frequently and the opera, which I am very interested in. They have all kinds of exercise programs and a wonderful exercise room. For my husband, they have an art studio, wood working, and everything else imaginable. We were very pleased with it. "

"I went to Hermitage Richmond, but it was not for my brother. It was a very fine facility, but the people there were very frail, and he's very physically fit. It was extremely well-maintained and beautiful. The people seemed happy. They were old and frail, but they were walking. Half of them were walking with walkers and the ones who were in wheelchairs were well-dressed. They were looking forward to dinner and they looked like they were going out to a banquet. They were happy and they seemed to have everything the people needed. It looked as though everybody's needs were accommodated. In particular, one lady just loves ironing, and I saw her ironing her sheets and clothes and she was happy with it. They take care of everybody's linen and personal clothing because they have a laundry room, but they seem to accom,odate people, whatever their needs might be. It was an extraordinary place for a large number of people with a variety of needs. It was very expensive, but it has high-end clientele. It's definitely for people who have the means. It's expensive for the average person, but they do offer quality services. I didn't eat there, but I could smell the tasty food, and it smelled really good. Everybody was happy."

"When we visited this assisted living center in Richmond, Virginia our family was extremely impressed with the staff and surroundings. Our father had told us that he had chosen this facility because it offered him the chance to continue his independent lifestyle yet there would be 24 hour help available if it was needed. Due to health problems Dad had been progressively having troubles with those little things that we all tend to take for granted. For instance daily household chores were a nuisance; and even cooking his own meals on a daily basis was more responsibility than he wanted to deal with. Severe arthritis and a bad hip had only complicated his life even more. Now he was hoping to live at Hermitage at Cedarfield and he would have assistance with bathing, grooming and dressing when and if he needed it. He would have a private apartment and his meals would be prepared for him each day. His freedom to go and come as he pleased would not be restricted and he would be able to socialize with other seniors who shared many of his same interests. Scheduled events and activities are available each day of the week, and our dad can choose to participate or not. He loves the bridge games and he has even tutored some of the staff on the finer points of this card game. There is a fitness center, outdoor activities and even a heated indoor pool. It is like being on a permanent vacation and my dad enjoys himself each and every day. Until recently he cooked three or four times a week but now he prefers to eat most of his meals in the communal dining room. Champagne chicken is his favorite dish and he loves the fresh salads that are offered for lunch and dinner. Scallops, shrimp and quail are just a few of the dishes that I have personally tasted during my visits to Hermitage. The ingredients are fresh and the food is prepared by professional chefs. No matter what the choices I have always found everything to be absolutely delicious. That first visit was nearly two years ago and our most recent visit was only two weeks ago. The care our father has received has been consistently outstanding. He has also maintained a relatively independent lifestyle even through some minor health setbacks. We are still just as impressed with the quality of care today as we were on our first visit and are very appreciative of everyone who belongs to the Hermitage staff. "

"My friend recently moved to Lakewood Manor. I went there one time with another friend who was looking for a place. We went together when we had an invitation for sort of an open house kind of thing. The main thing I remember about that visit was that the rooms were huge. I remember we both said if we are going here to downsize, it's not that much of a downside. It is a beautiful place. They have homes that you can buy too. "

"In the times I have visited my grandmother at The Masonic Home, I have left with the impression that the facility is a nice enough place for her to be living for the rest of her life. The staff there are very friendly and seem to really like my grandmother, but since she has Alzheimer's, she doesn't always remember them until they remind her several times of their past experiences with her. She's always very friendly to them though, and she seems to enjoy the activities that they put on there. Sometimes she does seem a little bored, but I think it's because she sometimes has a negative attitude and doesn't want to participate in the activities there. As far as the facility itself, the rooms seem very nice and the common areas always look clean and well-maintained. In particular, the grounds of The Masonic Home are beautiful and well-groomed, and it gives the entire place a very nice feel. "
