Nursing Home Communities in Troy, MO

"My mother is in Warrenton Manor for rehab. I don't like the food they serve the residents, but other than that, they take pretty good care of her. She seems pretty happy there, and she hasn't complained. Of course they don't give them any salt and seasoning on the food. We brought her home for Christmas dinner and brought her back. They’re wonderful, attentive people. My mother is cared for and has a wonderful therapist that comes in several times a day. Her biggest complaint is that, "My eggs are cold, and the food is either cold or tepid." She can't remember anything but she remembers that. I understand the food has to be bland because of all the dietary restrictions, but at least they could get it out hot. That's the only problem I had with them. The amenities seem fine for what's going on there and the state of these people. The things I was concerned with in the beginning I understand now why they do it. They bring out some people and have them lay on these wonderful beds. They're stroke victims or high-risk so they can keep an eye on them closer. If they can't answer your question, they go run for help and find somebody to answer everything, or they give you a phone number to contact. The level or the quality of care is there, I have no problem with that. My mother had a roommate before, and they couldn't have picked a better roommate for her. I thought, "Wow, they even think of that." That was really sweet for them to pick someone and be a companion and talk to my mother so she is not just sitting there and being sullen. I really appreciate that. They have a calendar that they put out. They have manicures and hair cuts at the beauty parlor every week, which my mother enjoyed because the girls cut her hair really well. They have activities every day, like church service, carolers coming in, visiting little kids, and all different things. They have little shops, play bingo and games, and get fake dollars that they can use at their store. They also have a beautiful front lounge with a big TV and beautiful lounge chairs. They have a big beautiful piano and bring people in to play. When I was there I saw a resident who just finished playing, even though she may not remember that she used to play, she seemed real happy about it. You can come through the front door, or through a side door depending on the time of the day. They are very nice people who are very kind to their residents and try very hard. They do everything they can."

"My husband has been there only one week so very little experience to call on. But the employees seem to be caring and attentive. Small, quiet facility. My husband likes the meals so far and over-eating is not urged on him. "

"When I walked into Garden View Care Center, it felt welcoming, like a family. Mom's room is an appropriate size for her needs. The staff has been wonderful. They are helpful. They have a routine that they go through. I haven't had any issues with my mom not getting her diaper changed. In other places I've been to, I was at her bedside, and I couldn't sit by her, but in this place, they do it regularly and automatically. They have a beautician that comes in to do the hair and the nails, and they have doctors that come in, a podiatrist, and a dentist to take care of those things. I think that's pretty much what's very important to them, because they can't get taken out of the facility, and mom can't do that easily at all. The facility has been good. They keep it nice and clean."

"My father was at Jonesburg Nursing Home for three days. He was unconscious for all three days, but I would say overall that the care was good. The staff members are mostly from the town nearby, I think, and I felt that they were caring people. The price overall was on the lower side, which was good. I felt like the facility was adequate for my father’s situation, but we wanted a private room, and they didn’t one available. The quality of the facility was lower, older, and worn. "

"My family and I have had family members and friends here. We highly recommend this facility. The staff are great, they work hard. My Grandfather is here now. I write this review to let other families know that there may be issues encountered in any community living home, but if you don’t go to the management team and talk to them and truly want to help and be willing to compromise then you will never be happy with any facility. I hear others at my church complain about nursing homes and I always ask did you talk to the right person. Complainers will never be happy with anything. I give kudos to staff that work in this field. To some they are the only family, they are caregivers, feeders, housekeepers cooks etc., they are everything for a large number of people living in a small space and have to deal with on occasion unreasonable family members. Nursing homes across the state are struggling to stay open as a result of all the medicaid cuts and the majority of the people who live here are just that. I would not have my Grandpa anywhere else. Go visit the facility any facility before you place a loved one. Talk to residents that live there to see if they have concerns then base your decision from there. I have the 5 STAR rating that the government puts out is very one side and not fair at all. I find most reviews come from “complainers” who haven’t talked to the right person at the facility to solve their issues. Last but not least if you or your loved one is not happy where they are at, find another home. Great job St Peters Manor my family loves you."

"I got my mother-in-law in a nursing home called The Villages of St. Peters. It's wonderful and gorgeous. There is a big fountain in the center with high ceilings. The people are very friendly. They get their money's worth there. One thing I love about this place is that they have their own dental company that comes in once a month. It also has memory care unit. The staff is wonderful. They treat you like royalty. My mother-in-law couldn't sit up because she was abused, beaten, and neglected by her son, so they had to re-build her. Her hair was matted to her head, so they washed her hair six times. They just went overboard for her. They keep them extremely busy, and they do arts and crafts. The food is excellent. My mother-in-law loves it. As a matter of fact, they give her two helpings of breakfast, two helpings of lunch, and two helpings of dinner. In between, if they want Ensure or snacks, they set it out and they can come and get it or they will bring it to them."

"They are very pleasant, and they have a lot of employees that take care of the seniors. They take them on trips. They offer meals, and they have a nice dining room and cafeteria. They have entertainment, and they watch movies a couple of nights a week. There is a swimming pool. The food is excellent, and they have good cooks. You sit in the dining room, and you wait on it like a restaurant. It is top quality. The rooms have a nice living room, a dining room, and a bedroom. Some are two bedrooms with a kitchen and a sitting porch. Breeze Park is very well run with good people. "

"The social worker assigned to the case found Frontier Health and Rehabilitation for us. Staff is really good. They work with my dad. He is in their memory care. They kept me informed of what's been going on. They have a workout place and activities, and they do exercise. The place is just old. The building needs to be rehabbed."

"I have never seen a nursing home so poorly run. The facility seems in disarray all the time. I have been there when resident room lights were going off and no one ever answers it. The nursing station looks more like a meeting room. The nurses and aides are hanging around when lights are on and no one pays attention to it. This has been brought to the attention of the Director of Nurses and the Administrator and have had no results. The person I go to see at the home is very unhappy therer. This is not a nursing home that you would want your family or friends at, believe me. C.Baker "

"NHC has been caring for my Mom for the last 6 months. Dr. Itsy and her team stay on top of her meds and needs and she has thrived. Katelyn and Lauren do an amazing job with activities for the residents and involving the families as well. During her rehab, Hema and the therapy team were invested in giving her great care each day. As she transitioned to full time permanent care, we were concerned that her care level would change, but Justin continued to work with her restoratively. Lori, her nurse, works hard to love and care for her patients and you always see the teams on each hallway working hard with smiles on their faces. Bridget is knowledgeable, available and helpful and all administration does a good job to know their residents and families and support their staff. Jessica in finance is excellent to work with and the team has thorough knowledge of Medicaid processes as well as private pay. NHC follows through. If they tell you they will do it, they do and it shows in the morale and attitudes of the residents and staff!"

"My brother moved into Lewis & Clark Gardens. It was more of what he was used to, so compatibility. It was almost like a dorm room for college. Each person could have a bed, and his or her closet space. The staff was very upbeat, and willing to help."

"We chose Charlevoix Healthcare Center for our mom because it was convenient and centrally located for my family and me. I also knew someone who had a parent there and they had readily available rooms. The place was very open, bright and clean, and the people were very friendly. I hadn't eaten there but I sat with my mom while she ate and the food appeared really good. The residents seemed to like the food. I would recommend this facility to other people. "
