Nursing Home Communities in El Paso, IL

"The Apostolic Christian Home has a nice atmosphere. It is Christian, so the care is always gentle and spirit-filled. When my husband's grandmother injured herself, she was relocated to the hospital portion, but even then, she was allowed to go back to her independent home after she was better. They have lots of activities for the folks there, including summer outdoor events, planting gardens, fishing (in wheelchairs!!), volunteer work, and animal therapy. There is a chapel there, so church is encouraged, and there is never a shortage of helping hands who are willing to pray for and care for those who need it. The staff there WANT to be there; they genuinely care for those who are not in the best of health as they are. My husband's grandmother has a nice place there, too. It is kept clean, and is actually quite spacious, with a kitchen/dining room, living room, bedroom, closet space, and very large bathroom. It's like having her own apartment, but the staff is there for her in an instant, should she need it. This living home is wonderful, and has great care. "

"I chose McLean County Nursing Home for my mom because it's a facility that doesn't have much turn over as far as the employees were concerned. It is an old building but it is exceptionally clean. It is near a university and I like it that students come there to visit. The staff is very good and they made their residents feel at home and as comfortable as possible. "

"My tour with Heritage Manor was wonderful. The receptionist was friendly, and the person who gave me a tour was very nice. Every time I called them to discuss things they were nice. I loved the layout. The decor was very nice. Their memory ward facility looked like they had lots of activities for the residents to do. The rooms were very nice. There were double and private rooms. They were very spacious and nice. The residents could decorate them up like they wanted to. Heritage Manor would definitely be one that I wanted to go back to."

"Everything went fine at The Loft (Heartland of Normal). They were very nice to my sister and she had no problems and wasn't upset with anything. She was happy, and her room was nice and clean. The staff was very polite, nice, and seemed to know what they were doing. My sister's nurses seemed to have everything under control. She also seemed to like the food but it's still nursing home food. She didn't do a lot of activities, but she did rehab. They do a lot of bingo and all kinds of things in their cafeteria though. The place itself was really good, clean, and didn't smell. It was kind of expensive but nursing homes are expensive."

"I was in Heritage Health - Bloomington for a couple of months. The staff was wonderful. The accommodations were very nice and clean. The food was not wonderful. I had a suite, and it was lovely, very nice, and clean. It had its own bathroom, big closet, hospital bed, and recliner chair. They were very, very accommodating for physical therapy. They had a great gym for working out and working on your therapy needs. I stayed in the therapy part. There's also a residential part. The staff was just wonderful. They took good care, of me, they were on top of all my medical and social needs. They were delightful."

"Snyder Village is a CCRC, so it's independent living, memory care, assisted living, and a nursing home. My parents lived there for 20 years and they got very good care in every facility they've been in. The place is well taken care of, and the maintenance is good. They had many social activities over the years like potlucks and all kinds of social get-togethers. They're very popular so I think they probably have a waiting list although they probably have some independent living cottages open right now."

"I liked Westminster Village a lot, but it was so big and so far to walk to everything. The staff was very nice, and everybody that we met said hello. It was nice. It was just too expensive and too far apart from everything. It was very spread out."

"My friend lives in Goldwater Care and the care they provide has been pretty good. Meds are delivered to her and then insulin shots every so often. They're on the ball. She's in an individual room, but she has to walk quite a ways to get her meals. She's at the far wing of and it seems like it's a quarter-mile walk to get there. The facility is more institutionalized. They don't have that homey touch to it. It's kind of like a sterile environment. It looks nice on the outside, but it's kind of cramped on the inside."

"We chose Washington Christian Village for my aunt because of the location and cost. It meets the needs and it's where we needed to be both cost wise and proximity to where all the family live. During Covid, they are offering meals in the dining room once a week and the rest of the week, the residents are eating in their rooms. They offer transportation to appointments, beauty shop, and activities. Everything is scaled back because of Covid. The cleaning, nursing, bathing, and dressing assistance were included in the price, instead of it being additional cost. She hasn't moved in yet, so from a residential standpoint, I don't know about that. The staff was very informational and very accommodating."

"Evenglow Inn was very small and more like a house setting, very homey, very comfortable, and very nice. They only had 26 residents, so it's very personal. They had the people out at tables doing activities. It was cheaper than others. The staff has her dog there every day, and the residents love him and they enjoy that. They're very friendly, very kind, and very good. It was very nice and clean, but a little older facility. We would've taken it if they had the opening. It was a locked community, but there's a little more freedom because they had a courtyard in the middle that my aunt would've been able to go out and walk around. It's right next to a cornfield, and it seemed very secure."

"This is a beautiful facility with employees that treated my father like he was their own. I am so very thankful that he was able to stay at such a beautiful facility with such great care. "

"We found Fairview Haven for my parents. It's just very clean and very nice, the cost is a lot lower than most of the other places. They allow you to age in place, and they also have a nursing home and assisted living under the same roof. They offer housekeeping, three meals a day plus snacks. The independent living has their own dining room. They offer activities, transportation to doctors, to other fun things, and to the grocery store. They do laundry for you, or you can do it yourself, and it's all in one level. They're not there yet, but they will be."

"I have visited Morton Terrace on numerous occasions, both as a visitor to my now-deceased great grandmother and to perform piano music for the residents. In both visits, I have nothing but positive things to say. When my great grandma was a resident here, she was treated with the utmost respect by the staff, fed great meals, and was pleased with the service up until she died peacefully in her sleep. As a musical performer on the piano, I have always felt very appreciated by the staff and residents. Preparation is always done ahead of time when the staff is notified. Although it has been a Christmas or two since I last had a chance to play, I can still recall how much the residents enjoyed the music. Allowing music to be played in the main room is, in my opinion, a great service to the residents. A nursing home is sometimes a difficult place to keep spirits up, but the staff here, in my experience, did their best to create a happy, peaceful place for the residents to enjoy the remainder of their lives in relaxation and dignity. A five-star nursing home for sure. "

"My wife is at Arcadia Care at Morton for rehab. They're all good people. They listen and provide what they can. It's in good shape. She's in a one bedroom and she got everything in there. The food is pretty appetizing, a three-course meal. Sometimes she doesn't like the stuff that she got. I don't know how they determine the meals or anything like that, but for the most part, they are pretty good. The facility is not currently good, but mostly good. She gets therapy and help in the shower."
