"Reserve at Mills Farm was like going into a five-star hotel resort. It's like you're on vacation, so if a person does that kind of lifestyle, likes to go on vacation or a luxury type stuff, that's where you'd go. It's a very nice, elaborate facility. It just did not fit my mother-in-law, because she'd rather be at home than to be on vacation all the time. Their rooms were single living and they have very nice furniture. Everything's included. They have an en suite type bathroom. In the open area, they have a living area with a fireplace, an activity area, kitchen, dining, and a nurse's station. In the middle, there's a courtyard that looks like a traditional English garden. They have it confined to where memory care residents could mingle with the ones that are on the other side. So, it's just like one little community where each of them have their own living space. The lady that took us around was very informative and very nice. She reached out several times to check on my mother-in-law and to see how we were."

"They showed us just about everything at Brookdale Macarthur Park. We were able to speak to some of the caretakers along the way. It appeared to be a very well-run community. The memory care is separate in that community. They seemed to be engaged in the patients, they’re keeping the patients engaged in different things, and they seemed conscientious. They offered medication management, they had activities going on, exercise, craft activities, and it seemed to keep the people occupied. They have single rooms, double rooms, places to go and watch TV or read a book. They try to make it like a home environment even though it’s a larger community. They had singing, people come in, play the piano, and take them to the store once a week by bus. It was clean, bright, and cheerful."

"Spring Arbor of Cary would be a convenient place for us, and the facility was clean. They also have the ability for a Sara lift that we needed for my dad. They could watch TV, and they have activities like bingo and painting."

"The facilities were well maintained and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The housing is located in long tiers. In my cousin's case, the room looked out onto a brick wall across a short distance. Though significant, that was the only real aesthetic issue; the floors, walls, and furnishings in the common areas were fresh, in good condition, and comfortable. The food looked palatable (I did not have the opportunity to sample any of it personally), and my cousin was reasonably happy with the fare. Menu items included traditional breakfast items and standard fare for luncheon and dinner. Occasionally, an exotic dish would be offered. That was not important to my cousin, but some of the residents (and me, were I to be living there) really seemed to relish special menu items. Of course, many residents are on dietary restrictions that severely limit their choice. The staff will occasionally bring a surprise treat of ice cream that is uniformly well received. I would consider this facility if I needed to live with assistance. "

"Tara Plantation was nice. They had two separate wings for the dementia unit. It is secure. They had plenty of adequate space, so the residents could go outside if they wanted to. They had a courtyard. It was a lot of space. The facility itself was older, but it was very well-kept. The residents were kept active. "

"My mother lived at cambridge Hills for three and a half years. The staff was wonderful to her. For awhile she delivered the resident mail. It made her feel important and needed again. She always enjoyed the activities and outings. Her live and spirits were improved by living there. I would recommend it to anyone that had a loved one that neede Assisted Living..........Karen W. "This place is a great place for many reasons for assisted living care. It is an older facility but I'd kept very clean. They take patients for their Dr. Appointment. Also doctor visits on site at certain times. My friend says food is very good and there are between meals snacks. They do their laundry and staff are excellent to work with. The cost is very reasonable for those who can't afford an expensive place. "

"The Coventry is part of St. Joseph of the Pines Continuing Care Retirement Community. I was told they do not accept potential residents from the community - you have to be part of the buy-in system for independent living with exorbitant up front costs. Good to know. "

"Liselotte Carehome is private. There's only eight beds. It's kind of out in the country a little bit, so it's working quite well. I think, due to the fact that it's small, they really get individualized care. "

"Fuquay-Varina Homes-Elderly was pretty good. It was a little bit older. They had like duplexes, and they were cute. You make your own meal. It's independent, so it's OK."

"We had an in-person tour of Penick Village. We like its proximity to the town. We like the facility itself, but we can't get a two-bedroom. They provide new appliances. They redecorate every time somebody moves in. The food was good. It's a nice campus with walkways."
