McCarthy Court was very nice and had a wide variety of rooms which was great. The staff was very helpful and nice, even the custodians who were walking around. The dining area was very spacious and clean. They had a shuttle to doctors' appointments and shopping. I saw some of the residents playing bingo and bridge when we were there. They didn't have a pool but they did have a salon. All of the residents seemed to love it there, and the staff was very nice.

I was very impressed with McCarthy Court. They have a very nice facility, so we'd certainly consider going there. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The lunch was very nice. They didn't pressure us or anything. They just showed us around, and we were surprised at how nice and clean it was. They had a library and two very nice outside areas, one with a fountain in the middle and gardens for the residents to do their own planting if they so desire. They have two lovely dining areas. One is very special and is used for special occasions. It's convenient to everything in town. They have a gym, a fitness room, therapy if needed, and trips to a theater, play, concert, or whatever is going on in town. Plus, once a month or so, they go to the farmers' market on a Saturday. It's a very welcoming place. Another very nice feature they had was if you get a one-bedroom unit, and you have company come stay in two very nice guest rooms that are available at no charge. It had a grill room, Happy Hour, music going, snacks, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

McCarthy Court was recommended to us as being the best place in New Bern for elder care. The staff is pretty good. The rooms are fine. It is a very nice place. My mother goes to the exercise class and that's about it. Sometimes the response time from the office downstairs is not good, particularly on the weekends. They have some not very smart people working in the office, so that is not good.

McCarthy Court was good. They provide two meals a day, they have activities, and they also provide weekly cleaning. The only thing mom had against them was they had a stove in them, so that meant she had to cook.
