On 07/25/24, the room was not clean when my mother was first transferred from hospital to the facility; no bed sheet, someone’s else belongings still there. It took over 30 minutes to find someone to just put the bed sheets. Then, nurse came 2 hours later didn’t read discharged plan, she has stage 4 cancer, metastasize and need extra attention. To make matters worse, when my brother visited her yesterday (07/30/24), she falls trying to get herself back in bed. He was able to catch up, trying to yell for help and No One came until he asked the patient bed to help pressed call button, which took at least 10 minutes for someone to come and check. When I called and asked about the incident, I was told “family member was there, there is no need to call or report. We check her vital, and she’s fine.” I am her healthcare proxy, just imagine. When asked to speak to supervisor, I was told “she will call you back” and refused to give information. When asked for social worker unit, I was told “call back tomorrow after 9 am, it’s already after 4pm everyone left.” West Village Rehabilitation & Nursing Center IS NOT equipped to take care of patients who are ill and in fragile conditions. Do not send your love ones here.

Please do not send anyone you love to this facility, My mother recently recovered from a leg injury here. She developed blood clots during recovery and the facility ran out of her prescribed medications. After her damaged knee subsequently became swollen, our request for a Doppler or ultrasound test for any new clots was not able to be fulfilled. It may have been ignored. Administrative staff members including the social workers, the directors of nursing and the director of medicine were nearly impossible to contact unless a member of my family was physically present. The food is low quality even by institutional food standards. Some of the nurses and the therapy staff were helpful. But overall, my mother's experience in this facility was terrible.

There are flies everywhere, constantly. I killed dozens when my dad was here for a week. The staff and therapists were for the most part nice. The facility is horrible, though. Diapers are a facility policy even though my dad had never worn them before or since we left. We had to untrain him from just peeing in bed because he’d gotten used to a diaper. He usually finished his PT and OT therapies by 11am and that was basically it for the day. And this for someone with a hip injury and a high risk for blood clotting. And no therapies on the weekend. I complained to get one PT and one OT over the weekend. I heard many patients complaining while I visited and felt sad they didn’t have a family member there to advocate for them. I visited the social worker office every day. I complained. They said we were free to leave “against medical advice” if we wanted. Of course, that would affect our insurance. By complaining every day, they did discharge my dad after a week. But, I had to become a nuisance to get anything done. Again, I have to mention the flies. It was unbelievable. I’m guessing because of all the smelly diapers everywhere.

My friend just left there. She was supposed to stay a week and left within two days. The facility was horrible. She is in a lot of pain and wasn't correctly attended to. The TV was limited and the phone wasn't working. Therefore she had trouble calling her family and friends. Food was horrible

My friend at VillageCare Rehabilitation and Nursing Center said that their rehabilitation services are excellent. She was very pleased with the care she got from them. She felt that social services were less well-organized but she liked the rehab. She had a private room which was very nice and a good size. It had a window that looked out on some trees. The other thing that I noticed that I thought was positive was that when you come in, there's a very nice outdoor courtyard space. Being as it's in Lower Manhattan which doesn't have that much outdoor space, that part of it was nice and she enjoyed that. I was only there for 45 minutes but I guess it was pretty good. She said the food was mediocre, not bad, and not good, but I have not tried it. Compared to the other places that I've seen in the past years, I think this place rates well.

Residents get 1.5 hours of therapy and then are left to lay in bed or sit in a chair for the remaining 22.5 hours...getting worse, not better. Defeats the purpose. Bad speech therapist who created issue of swallowing thst never existed...were there for legs. Jason and Stephanie the only two good therapists who helped. Had to fight for 10 days to get my mother sprung from this hellish place!
