I did my CNA externship at St. Vincent De Paul Residence, it's a very clean facility. The patients are well cared for. My instructor Azary Tamarov was great. He showed us around, gave great advice about the health care field, and was very hands on when teaching us CPR. My experience was great, thanks to everyone at the facility. I would definitely recommend St. Vincent De Paul to family, patients, students, or future employees. They are very friendly, family oriented, and welcoming.

I picked this facility over others primarily for the care. My Aunt is in her first stages of Dementia and was wandering in the streets with no recollection while living alone. Here I feel her safety is of the utmost concern for them. She is treated respectfully and eating well. The rooms are clean and she's with other patient's who are in the same state of health. It will take time to make it her "home", and I'm comfortable that the staff follows up with me on any concerns or feedback regarding her care and adjustment. I couldn't have asked for a better situation when I had nowhere else to turn to for assistance.

The facility was quite dismal. The staff was friendly but neglected to change my great aunts catheter for days at a time, which eventually led to an infection. The privacy in the rooms was minimal and the interactions among patients seemed to be minimal at best.

My site visit prior to my mom's admission convinced me that this is where she needed to be. They also have a virtual tour which adequately describes the facility. I was struck by not smelling urine permeating through the halls like in other nursing homes. I am most appreciative of the fine, caring staff that mom has been blessed with on the 6th floor. My mom is Puerto Rican and is reverting back to her roots and St. Vincent de Paul caters to a large latino population which makes mom more comfortable during her lucid moments. The compassion and the 24/7 care is priceless. Mom had been severely depressed and lived in a filthy environment and is now safe and clean and socializing. I wish i could care for her at home, but since I can't, SVDP is the next best thing. They made my painful decision less traumatizing.
