My wife stayed at Abiitan Mill City. They helped with all sorts of services, like getting her dressed, going to the bathroom, and bringing food. They have all sorts of other things that you could do and other programs. They're pretty much complete, and they've got a nice restaurant on the first floor. They're all very pleasant people. My wife had a studio apartment. All it had was a refrigerator, bath, and toilet. It's the smallest one they had, and it was perfectly fine. They kept it clean and they came in maybe once or twice a week. The food was OK. They advertise it as restaurant quality; 50% of it was and the other 50% wasn't. The staff were wonderful. They're all good and caring. They were prompt, and if you need help, they will get there fast. They were very good. They got a lot of activities.

My sister-in-law is moving into Abiitan Mill City. We chose it because they have a program for the memory care residents seven days a week. That was a very big part of it for us, so they have staff around doing that. It's beautiful because it's about five years old. That caught our eye, but it was the staffing situation that really caused us to take it seriously. They have creative arts and there's an exercise program. There's keeping up to date, reading the newspaper, there's usually something interesting that involves a film; one night it will be a documentary, another night it will be a comedy, and there will be a movie. They have a good staff to resident ratio.

My husband and I toured Abiitan Mill City. We didn't see one single soul anywhere in any of the activity rooms or anything. And so, we were wondering where's all the people? It was small and you looked out the window, you just saw another building next door. There's no greenery. All the buildings are built close to it. So, you can't see out into the river. It's close to the river, but you can't see it because it's just downtown. You'd have to love to live downtown in a closed-in space, and I don't like that. The lady who showed us around was excellent. They also had another person who's on staff come in, and he was excellent. So it was the people we did meet, staff mostly. They're building a restaurant and you can go to the restaurant. But the restaurant is also open to the public. But somehow they can't get food to your room from somewhere if you need to have food in your room, but you can't go into a dining room and eat. So we didn't like that. They had a gym. They had a courtyard. They have a lot of activities going on. They have a library. They have all these rooms on each floor where you could go and do puzzles.

I'll be moving into Abiitan Mill City. It was such a good fit for me. It had a lot of activities that I like to do. It had yoga and lectures, and it's right along the river with hiking paths. It's within walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores. I will have a one-bedroom, which is going to be different moving from a larger house, but I think it'll be good. They're right next to the Guthrie. There is a service where you can get a free ride at any place within five miles. You can go wherever you need to go to the YMCA (which is close), and you can go to the grocery store or whatever restaurant or whatever you need to do with a free ride, so that was appealing to me. It's also close to the farmer's market. I thought the staff have been very caring. They responded quickly to inquiries. They were very good. The place was clean, and it was kept up well. They have a community meeting room. I haven't eaten there. I will make my own meals, but they have a nice restaurant, and they have a coffee shop. You can ask for meals if you want to, but I'll make my own meals.
