My cousin moved into Arden Courts of Sterling Heights. It's an excellent place. It's just the type of facility that she needs. They've got her seeing a psychiatrist regularly. The rooms are single, and they're adequate. They have 4 small houses that are connected by a big common area, and I think there are only 15 residents in each of the 4 houses. Each house has its own CNAs, its own nurses, and its own staff. So, they're better able to get to know the residents in that particular house rather than in one big group. It is a very nice arrangement. They have activities going on all day long, like bingo and prayer services. Sometimes, they bring in musicians.

Arden Courts of Sterling Heights was very expensive. They tell you it’s for memory care, but they have such extreme levels of memory care, I don’t think it’s fair to the people in there. They didn’t have enough activities for people to do, so they end up sitting around and doing nothing. They didn’t even let them watch the TV that they wanted to watch. They supposedly played memory games, but it’s not very good. The facility had an odd smell to it.

Arden Courts was very expensive, and there's no financial aid. They're strictly a locked down facility for memory care. It's one building with four separate wings. All doors are locked. The rooms were small and look maintained. The staff was very professional. They do offer seminars and lectures to anybody, may it be a customer or a patient, and they're open to public on awareness of mental health and ageing. They're free. It seemed OK for what we were looking for. For what it is, it looked fine.

I drive by Arden Courts everyday that's how I came to know about it. The highlight for this facility was the general care they have for their patients. It was not an institutional kind of setting. The care there was more personalized. I didn't have any problems with their staff. Their rooms were clean and well managed. It was just a very well organized facility in all aspects.

When I had a meeting at Arden Courts of Sterling Heights, I had a chance to have a tour around the facility. Overall, it was acceptable. What stand out about this place is the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the place. The staff was helpful. I also got a chance to see a room. It was enough for one person. It had a bed and some furniture, but they told me I could bring furniture of my own. They also told me they have activities.

I contacted Arden Courts to get information on cost for a friend. Having worked in the healthcare industry I knew of them and had a favorable impression of their work with dementia and alzheimers and their efforts to educate the community, both healthcare professionals and family caregivers. Although as I suspected the cost was prohibitive for my friend I did get a prompt and courteous response from Arden Courts and an offer as a contact for future/further information.
