I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been in Royalton manor for some time now. I am very pleased with my mother’s care. If I have any concerns I talk with the nurse. They have always kept me informed about my mother and call if any changes in her health or medications. The social worker is very helpful as well as office personnel. I am very involved and proactive in my mother’s care. Our loved ones need to Know we care. Thank you all for the care you have given my mother.

Try to remember all of the horrible things you've heard about nursing homes and this will give you an idea of what Royalton Manor has to offer. Luckily, my dad was only there for a couple of weeks, following a recent stroke. I'm not sure he would have been able to survive a visit of any greater length. The blatant disregard for the health and well being of their patients is disgusting. The rude, incapable, uncaring, lazy and unprofessional nurses, doctors and therapists that we encountered is mind boggling, truly. From medication not being given, to my dad losing 20 lbs (because he was unable to swallow and nothing was done about it, until he came home and the problem was immediately obvious), to a fall that we believe was never reported, to observing a "physical therapy session"(without the staff knowing) where my father was left in a wheelchair, with his head hanging in his lap. Any time my mother tried to talk to both the doctors and nurses on staff, she was treated like a criminal. My mother is a very soft spoken woman, who I have never witnessed being rude or demanding a day in my life! Her treatment was undeserved, and the staff at Royalton Manor should be ashamed. These are only a very few of the things that occurred in the short time my dad stayed at Royalton. I shudder to think of the things that occurred of which we were unaware. I cannot stress enough how dangerous I believe this place to be as a care provider of any kind.

I am a friend or relative of resident

our grandfather is in Royalton Manor. He was told to call for help to get out of bed. He did as he was told. He woke to use the bathroom at 2 am and no one came until 6:30am. a complaint was made and the buzzer was checked and confirmed that it was working. This happened a few more times. He wet himself waiting the four and a half hours after he called for help. they finally showed up and took him to the bathroom and wouldn't let him wash his hands, took him back to his bed and did not change his sheets, the sheets were peed in. His mind is still very sharp. This nursing home is a joke. Its doors need to be shut. no one is responding to the complaints or even to the residents that are they paying good money for help.

I am a current client of this provider

We had known other people who were with Royalton Manor. When we went to visit them, it was a comfortable and cheerful place where people were getting the help they needed to be able to go home. They have both long term area and a rehab area. My dad has been doing rehab and his strength is getting a little bit stronger. It's a bit slow but it's happening. He will be coming home soon. A little stronger than when he left with some ideas about mobility. It's good that he's in a place where knowledgeable people can monitor him all the time. The staff is very positive. They communicate well as to what dad can and cannot do.

I visited this facility

If you have a loved one at Royalton Manor or are thinking about having a loved one stay at Royalton Manor then think twice at least when it comes to dealing with Mr. Elsner the unit manager of the south end of the building. On four ocasions he has not given me any straight answers about the care my father is recieving at Royalton Manor. In fact he is rude and condesceding to say the least i fell that his lack professional ability warranty serious concern. Not only is my father severely dehydradated everytime i go in to see him but depression has set in. The physical therapy i was told was a good agressive program is lack luster to say the least. Medication prescibted by the specialists are not being adhered to and to make things worse i heard him today getting verbally abusive with my father. Then when i confronted him about it he was giving me the run around he actually told me and my family that the elderly only understand in a condesceding tone. I feel like this is more or less abuse of the elderly and i also fell this person should be removed from contact with the elderly and Royalton Manor should take note that the people who intrust them with the care of their mothers and fathers do care about them and this will not be tolerated. I can only believe that as comfortable as Mr. Elsner is being this way that it has been going on for a long time and that makes me wonder about the other three stations at that facility and who or "what" is in "managing" them!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was the resident who went to Royalton Manor for rehab, following surgery for a hip fracture. She came to them not feeling very well after surgery. She complained about stomach and back pain; she wouldn't eat and when we came in to see her the day after she was admitted we found her just laying in her bed, not wanting to visit, eat, etc. I went to see one of the nurses to discuss her condition and why she seemed so much worse since the day before. We discovered she had a serious bowel blockage. Mom had told at least two people she hadn't had a bowel movement, but no one seemed too concerned. They had to manually remove the blockage and it was very hard watching and listening to my mother scream during the procedure. Once she got past that she was able to concentrate on her rehabilitation. I didn't have firsthand experience with the rehab, but Mom always had positive things to say about the people working with her AND they were impressed with her and how hard she worked at rebuilding her strength. One of the complaints I remember that Mom had was the food. We had a difficult time getting her to eat enough because she said the food was so lousy. Mom seemed to be fairly satisfied with most of the staff, but she had a difficult time understanding why some of the aides worked there because they seemed so disinterested in helping people. They lacked the proper social skills necessary in dealing with the seniors. The night staff, in particular, just did their own thing and it took hours to get them to answer a call button. We did walk around most of the facility while Mom was there and we were impressed with the cleanliness. There was no usual nursing home smell typically associated with nursing homes. The residents seemed happy and there were definitely a variety of activities offered.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother-in-law spent four weeks at Royalton Manor while participating in rehabilitation after hip surgery to repair a broken bone. The only complaint was so typical . . . the food . . . although she wished she could have had her own room since her roommate was a pretty good snorer. As far as meeting her needs and being cared for in a caring manner, she had nothing but good things to say about them and to them. Her summons were routinely met quickly and with a smile, no matter what time of the day. Of course, we thought the chocolates we brought the staff may have helped just a little bit. In the end my mother-in-law's rehab was successful and she was able to go home in good spirits. I have heard her speak of Royalton Manor as a positive experience after her release home.
