"I would like to take the time to give my personal opinion of the Emmett County Medical Care Facility. My mother has been living there for the past 3 years and has absolutely enjoyed it. I have visited this facility many times and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I especially enjoy and appreciate the staff here. They are dedicated to the care of your loved ones and really take the time to get to know the patients at this facility. I have viewed the staff actually sitting and talking to the patients instead of just handing them their medications and then taking off. This is extremely important to me as I love my mother and want to make sure that she is receiving the best care and that the care is done by a staff who view her as a person and not a paycheck. Also, Emmett County Medical Care Facility is always clean and smells good. My mother's room is cleaned two times a day and she is allowed to decorate her room however she wants to. This helps her to feel like she is more in her own home, rather than a hospital. Overall, I would suggest that anyone who is looking to place a loved one in a nursing home check this place out. I spent many hours looking at different places around where I live and this one is the one that had the most amenities and the most caring staff. "I wanted to take a minute to give my impressions of The Village of Hillside which is located in Harbor Springs, Michigan. First of all, I would like to say that this retirement community is located near beautiful Lake Michigan which is nice for the residents to be so close to nature. I also think that the facility is clean, organized and also very well maintained.I was able to spend about three hours here one day with my family while we were looking at all of our options for care for my mother who has been recently unable to care for herself. I was able to talk to most of the staff that works there regularly and I was impressed with their attitudes. They took the time to sit and talk with the patients/residents instead of just doing their jobs and moving onto the next person. I found them to be friendly and genuinely caring about how the residents are doing.I also enjoyed the layout of the facility. My mother has a pet and this place allows pets to live there with the residents, which was a big positive for us and our situation. Also, there are laundry facilities, cable television, beauty shops, exercise and fitness rooms and also a meeting place for all of the residents to meet up and play games, etc.Lastly, I would like to talk about all of the fun things that are in place for the residents to do. They are able to meet and play bingo and do other things such as play the Wii and have competitions. There are also karaoke and card nights, which helps the residents with making a lot of new friends and feeling like they are part of this retirement community.Make sure to take a look at this place if you are looking to get the best care for your loved one. "Perry Farm Village was beautiful, but my insurance wouldn't pay for my husband, and so it wasn't an option. I've known people who lived there, and they're happy. The staff who toured me around was wonderful. It had individual houses and condominium rooms."

"My mother-in-law lived in Grandvue Medical Care Facility. She began in assisted living and then she moved to memory care. Her care was fabulous and the room was adequate. Their staff was very caring and experienced. I was there when my mother-in-law was eating and the food looked fine. It's an older facility, so I think sometimes with the facilities that are aging, it's showing a little bit of wear. They do a really good job for an older facility. There are not many activities in memory care, but before that, they tried. They have the activities available even though she didn't participate. I saw other people doing things like crafts and they tried to make sure that they moved around. The value for the money is average. They pretty much had everything, a theater, and a salon. There's a kitchen area where you could go and make your own food and stuff, and they had an exercise room. They had the basic facilities."

"At the moment, I'm happy with Boulder Park Terrace. It's two minutes away from me, and it's so much more convenient. I like the feeling of the place when you enter. It's very calm, very clean, and large. The hallways are wide. The staff is very good. I would like food to be a smaller size plate, and I have asked that because it sort of turns my husband off to see a lot of food on the plate. They have bingo every day, movies, and art projects. They have everything you would imagine. The rooms are a good size and they're laid out well."

"I visited Tendercare Gaylord for four days. I feel very assured my father is getting proper care for his stroke. The staff cares about the patients and want to do the very best for them. They feed the patients too much and too good. My dad's roommate has been there for a month and agrees the food is good and overall he is satisifed with his care too. HIs roommate is there for hip rehab. "

"My wife has moved into The Brook of Gaylord. We haven't been here very long, but so far, the workers are tremendous, very polite, very nice, and very helpful. They're much better than where she has been before. I asked for two things which were my requests: I wanted a safe place, and I wanted a caring place, and we have both of them here, and that's all I cared the most about. They try to make it as safe as they can, and every one of them is as caring as can be, all the people that are working for my wife. Besides that, it's a newer facility, so it's kept up very well. There are a lot of activities. We haven't participated in many of them because my wife is still trying to walk, and having a hard time with it, but they come to her, so they're very good. It just seems like everybody here cares about the people. Whatever they're doing for them, they care about them, that they're happy. They know that when I'm here that I'm watching my wife because they're letting me stay here, which I thought was funny. I stay with my wife overnight. If I use part of their services for me, then I have to pay for them. But if I don't use anything, I don't pay anything. My wife and I eat dinner together, so I pay for dinner for me, and she's on a dinner plan. That's a big thing, to be able to stay. I think it makes the health of the person you're caring for a lot better when you can stay right there. I'm here, and I see everything. I see the nurses, I see the helpers, and I see everybody in what they try to do for people. It's not like you come and visit for a couple hours and go home. I'm here 24 hours a day. "

"I like Woodland Acres Assisted Living. Everybody was really pleasant. They let us walk and see all the rooms. They were eating lunch when we got there. I knew one of the residents there, so I got to interact with her a bit. It was a wonderful facility. The rooms were semi-private, they were large, there was room for a bed and a dresser, they could have their own TV, and there was a privacy wall between the two areas. They weren't little apartments, they were just rooms. They had community bathrooms where two or three residents could use the same bathroom. With the care, the cleanliness, and the staff, I would rate it a five. It's just that at the time my sister didn't want that kind of assistance and she didn't want a semi-private room. There was really nothing wrong with it though. The female residents were on one side of the building, and the males were on the other. Everything about it was top notch."

"This place is terrific! I had my mother there for a short stay while we waited for a new house to be finished and I was the guardian of a lady with With severe arthritis and dementia. I was there many many times and was always more than satisfied by the loving care and attachment the caregivers had for the residents. The residents had the dog and cat shows, field trips, for those who were able, visits from clergy, piano player, Jerry on the organ, car shows and visitors of all types. The rooms were all very nice with excellent cleanliness, outside decks for residents to sit.The food was awesome, I used to eat there very often (with notice long and short given). If you want your family to have the best of care, this is the place!"

"My father lived in a place called Brook of Cheboygan. I liked that place because it was smaller. They only have like 40 or 50 residents. The staff was very good. Everybody knew everybody. They had bingo, cards, and a movie theater. They had a very nice dining room. The facility was very nice. They had nice furniture. It would remind you of a fancy hotel, and they had a beauty salon. "

"My mother is now temporarily at the Medilodge of Cheboygan. I give them a rating of five because of the level of care and professionalism they presented to me. My mother is blind and deaf, and they have gone above and beyond to make sure she's comfortable. The staff members are very attentive. My mother says the food is wonderful. They have a community center where there are activities. My mother also goes to physical therapy. The facility is outdated, and the rooms are very small. They put two in a room. It is covered by insurance."

"I had come into this facility never having experience of working in this type of facility before. I was having trouble finding a place to do my Social Work internship and finally had found this place who had a Social Worker who would allow me to work with her. First I was a little scared of coming into Larson Hall, not knowing what to expect. However, within a short time I had come to LOVE this place. The residents and staff became family to me, which was especially helpful at this time since I had just moved to a new home and town and my parents were 200 miles away while my dad was having surgery and in recovery and rehab. So I was feeling quit lost and Larson Hall filled what I was missing in my life. I would spend hours after work talking, visiting and spending time with the residents after my shift was over. The residents had nothing but good things to say about Larson Hall. There was even waiting lists to be able to enter the facility. The staff is well qualified having two RN's on staff at all times, and registered CNEA's to help care for the residents at all times as well. The residents have a choice of food to pick from everyday and are giving a menu each morning to decide what they would like to eat the next day. Wellness meetings take place every quarter with each resident and their family to discuss, if they are happy, if there is anything that is bothering them, if there is anything they would like to see changed or even what they think of the food. Larson Hall even has their own Resident's committee which helps decide what kind of food they would like to see on a weekly basis and also what kind of activities and outing they would like to see implemented. This Nursing home, not only gives great care but also allows the residents to be part of their care, and help chose what goes on in their housing facility. "

"I have been using this agency for almost a year. The service offered by them that I use is six hours a week of respite care. They do offer many other services as well. Our caregiver, Sue, is wonderful with my husband who has dementia. She makes an effort to occupy his time in a meaningful manner, playing a game, going for a walk, looking at photographs, etc. My spouse really enjoys her companionship and looks forward to each visit. I am so with happy with her caregiving skills! "
