They had an outdoor garden, and they had different things that the people can participate in. They had an eating area upstairs and downstairs, and they had transportation to other places. They had doctors available. The staff seemed friendly, accommodating, and professional. "

"My brother seems to be fitting in very well at Spring Hills Mount Vernon. At first, he was baffled, but now he is fitting in and he seems to be very happy. I haven't had any problems with the staff members. They are very nice. The gentleman that helped us get in was really nice. We are happy with my brother's room. The food is good. They have a variety of them. You get a menu and you can pick what you want to eat. They have table bowling and bingo. The one day that I was there they had music people come in to play music. They also have root beer float parties. It is a nice place."

"My sister is in Sunrise of Springfield and she seems to be happy. She's in a wheelchair and she's able to get the help that she needs. I find the staff to be very caring and pleasant people. She has a studio room. There are rooms right next to each other and they share a bathroom. They have loads of activities, unfortunately my sister has chosen not to participate. They have exercises every week, they have lots of stimulating things, and everybody seems to be happy there. To me the food looks and tastes good. The layout of the community is very pleasant."

"I liked the facility it has independent and assisted living. The staff was very nice; they have nice balconies and courtyards for the summer. The dining room has nice linens, tablecloths, and china. The layout was nice. Everything was nice except I didn’t like the bedrooms. There’s nothing in the room except the bed, dresser, and TV. The bed didn’t look comfortable either, and it looked like a cot. "

"My mom was at Sunrise of Arlington. Our experience with them was very good. It worked out really, really well. Nobody stayed in bed all day. Everybody came out to do activities. They would have everybody in the big living room. One time, I actually walked in and they were having a tea party. I saw my mom with a hat and a teacup, and it cracked me up. There was an elevator and every room was wheelchair accessible. She had a private room and it was very nice. It actually had a couple of windows. It was a small room but she had her own bathroom. We loved the staff there. They were all amazing."

"I found the Paragon Assisted Living Potomac House Communities for my father. It's a group home. He moved in and he loves it -- the best place he's ever lived. This was perfect for him. The staff is great, my father feels very special there, it's very small, only eight residents, so it's very individualized. It's like they really care. He has the same, consistent people all the time. They have a chef who comes in every day and prepares the food. It's a brand-new facility, it's not even a year old. It's well-maintained. They clean the room every day. They have nice, big, open hallways. They have minimal activities, and they could probably do better for people who have the ability to do stuff. They're a great alternative to a bigger facility."

"I liked Prince of Peace I. It was a very nice community. The people were very nice and everything was well kept. They were very pleasant and very informative. The room I saw was just an average room, nothing special about it. They had beds in it for the residents, but there was also an outdoor porch, and everybody was watching TV when I was there."

"The Sunrise is a fairly new building, very pretty, and it's clean. A lot of the rooms are dual occupancy though, where you would share a bathroom with somebody. My mom just didn't want to do that. The staff was helpful and accommodating during the tour. "
