"I toured Golden Rule Plaza. I like that it was convenient to a lot of places that I could get to, like close to my church and grocery shopping. Also, the place was very nice. It was up-to-date. Everybody was friendly and knowledgeable. The structure is very sturdy and clean. The layout was very nice, and everything was very roomy. I felt like it was kind of bright and cheery."

"I like The Belnor Senior Residences very much. I like the amenities, the property highlights, and even the units. The kitchen was open and spacious. I like the floor plan, but they don't have enough closet space. The other features as far as the property is concerned, the laundry space and the fact that they have a community garden and greenhouse, I liked everything about it, even the reserved parking for the residents to make sure that we have enough parking. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The tour was very thorough. My questions were answered because there were just two features that I was interested in: the kitchen and the closets. You have to prepare your own meals."

"We toured The Fairfax, and my aunt used to live there. We saw the rooms and the units and everything. We walked around there, and we ate there. So, it meets all of our criteria except for the cost. The staff all appeared to be busy and helpful, like you would expect. We had a good tour. They have different types of displays there. They had a display for when they would do a buffet, like in the hallway, where you could nibble on. So, they had good food that looked good. The location was good. The one my aunt had was a two-bedroom with a part in the middle and then a bedroom on either side. They always take care of their rooms whenever we've been in them."

"I went to House of Lebanon, and I spoke with the property manager who gave me a tour. They were still working on the unit that I looked at. She gave me the application and everything to fill out. There were two more in the building that they were working on. She said they would be available for showing like mid-September, because I told her that I wanted to see those as well before making a final decision. They had very nice, big, very spacious rooms. They had new cabinets and new appliances. The lady was very nice. I highly recommend her. It was very warm and very inviting. I felt really at home when I went there. I said I could really see myself here, so I really pray that it goes well, because I really like it. The apartments have everything in there. You have a full kitchen and a dishwasher. They have washers and dryers. They have a multi-purpose room you could use for entertaining or something, which is real big. They have parking and a patio area to sit out, like a little atrium. There's a lot of things about it I like. It's not very decorative. It's an old school they renovated, but it's clean."

"My 86 year old mother was at Chesterbrook Residences for 9 month before she died peacefully in her sleep from heart problems. She loved Chesterbrook Residences, her apartment, the people there who became her friends and the many diverse activities. "I saw The Lewis Apartments. They were excellent. They had very nice apartments. Actually, they would have been my first choice if my father were looking for an apartment, but he told me that he would prefer to have a room. They hadn't confirmed the tour with me at all, so it was not a good day for them. They were having internal meetings that day, but the person there gave me more of a general tour since I had come, and what she was able to show me was very nice. There was a lot of space and a lot of different and separate areas that the residents could use, like a party room and things of that nature. The residents themselves would organize outings. The facility itself was nice, clean, and roomy. The staff was very cordial. She spent her time explaining things to me. She gave me information on how it was run. They're affordable, and they will help you with acquiring funds if necessary, which makes it even more affordable."

"The rooms are very spacious! I am looking for a 1 bedroom for just myself. I don’t want a lot of space, but rooms are great sizes. The area has almost everything you need shopping, dinning, church, entertainment, home improvement supplies,metro and parking. At the time I visited the building was quiet, I’m sure there are times when it’s not. But I live inside my apartment. That doesn’t bother me. I like the apartment. I’m still looking but this may be it!!! Take the tour!!!"

"The Virginian was very nice, but we thought it was a little expensive. It's a beautiful facility. They had great facilities, too. They're just really wonderful. However, we were not happy with the floor plans we looked at. They had a small kitchen area, but we need a little bit more kitchen space than that. They don't have cottages; they're just apartments. The activities were great. They had a beautiful range of activities. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. We enjoyed our visit there, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It's a couple of thousand a month more than most of the places we looked at. I would love to be there. However, it's a little far away from where we wanted to be. It's half an hour from the doctors, which is not good."

"Greenbrier Assisted Living was a single-family home that has been fitted for senior living, and it was very clean and very nice on the inside. The woman that I spoke to was also very nice. They've got 6 or 8 rooms and they all looked well taken care of. They had a nice sunroom area with a TV and a patio area with a grill."

"My husband and I are going to be moving to The Trillium Tysons for independent living. I think it's the best. Everything's around there; it's the 10th floor, which thrills us, and we got a corner unit, so we get sun and light on both sides. It's beautiful and surpassed my expectations. I saw pictures of it first on the internet, so I expected it to be nice, but when we walked in there, we were awed. I'm having the master bedroom and master bath changed to be the color of our bedroom now because it's the most soothing color. They said they would have done the whole apartment if we wanted. They also said if we wanted to have the closet organizers we have in our house, they could do that for us. They're also going to put grab bars in the shower because that's very important to me. As it is right now, they don't have a door in the shower, so we're getting glass doors in the shower, which they're doing for us, too. The lady who worked with us was as patient as could be. She drew things out for us, answered every question we had, and said that if we had any further questions, we should not hesitate to call. She has the sweetest personality so I just love her. When I came in, I said we've been driving around, and the coffee is horrible. She went and got us a latte during the meeting. If that's an indication of what the service will be like, then I'd rate them highly. She is outstanding. The place is conveniently located near everything, with all the stores and doctors around. That's if you want to go outside, because you don't have to. Everything is already there for you. I would say within a square mile, you have banks, hairdressers, and a movie theater. It's like a village unto itself. You have a choice of a 20-meal package or a 30-meal package. We took the 20-meal package because we like to eat out a lot, and there are a lot of restaurants around there, too. The 20-meal package means you get at least one meal a day. The person we are working with said most people go for dinner because it's a big, fancy meal. They have a Michelin chef there, too. She did say that if you went beyond your 20 or 30 meals, you could get a card and you could pay for it."

"I visited Harmony at Waldorf, and I liked what I saw. I guess people mean well, but I need to go where I'm comfortable, and when I need assisted living, then they will transition me to that down the line. They have a full-size kitchen and a washer and dryer. There's an option for one meal. I would decide which meal I want on any given day, and then that's the one I would have. I like the place. Inside, they have a lot of different dining rooms and stuff. The person who took me around explained stuff because we talked about the one-time fee, and I just happened to ask, "Do you give discounts to the military?" and she said yes. So, I think once you pay that, I get the impression that it would be applied."
