"My wife is in The Reserve at Oswego. It's a nice place. I'm there every day, twice a day, I talk to them on a regular basis. It's very good communication between the facility and myself. I'm very happy with it. I have no complaints at all about the facility. She has a very comfortable, private room, it's a pretty good size, and everything that we need is there. It's a relatively new facility, probably only three or four years old. They have quite a few activities, but my wife is not partaking that much. I have no complaints about the food. It's only five minutes from my house, and that's another big plus."

"The room was the right size for one person. I liked the in-room monitors and the emergency call buttons in the room. The staff was very pleasant and answered all of the questions that I asked. When I went there, it was at a meal time, so I was there when everyone was eating. The food looked nice, and the dining area was clean with a bunch of smaller tables rather than large tables, which facilitates more communication. It’s so close to my house, and it’s the one that I liked the best. "

"The staff at Bickford of St. Charles was extremely friendly and very helpful. The place itself was very nice; more like a home rather than a hotel feel. At the time we were there, there wasn't any planned activity, but they gave us the tour. They have an activity room and beautiful meeting rooms. They have a lot of cozy corners where people can sit and do the puzzle thing, a whole game room where they could play pool, or use up the gambling table to play cards; it was just a very pleasant experience. My sister-in-law has a really bad dementia and needs assisted living. At that time, they were completely booked and what they showed us was a guest room that was already furnished. There's a room that is becoming available at the end of the year that we have gone ahead and signed for. We've seen that room empty, and they're in the process of painting and cleaning it for her. We have decided this is the place she is going. "

"My parents are already placed in Sunrise of Naperville North. They have a high ratio of staff to residents and my father needed that. They also have a very nice atmosphere, the staff is very personable, and the living quarters are nice. They haven't done activities yet because they just have been in there for a few days and they're not up to it yet, but they have been trying to get for them to do activities. The food is just OK, it's not great. "

"I visited alone and then brought my mom to view this facility. It is a lovely facility. There are dining options, lots of activities and I did see people participating in activities when I visited. In some facilites, people are not interacting much with each other. The apartments are very modern and spacious and rival any standard apartment complex. A resident dog is also a plus for those who like animals, but can no longer care for them. They will even soon provide local transporation to residents. Shawna was very friendly, knowledgable and willing to hear our very complicated situation and offered us options to fit our needs. My mom chose to go back home for now, but if things don't work out, I would not hesitate to go with Harbor Chase."

"My mother is in Brighton Gardens. It is nice and the people are very friendly. She has a private room that is kind of small, but adequate, and has a nice-sized closet. We don’t spend much time in there; we usually take her out of the room. I don’t like the food for myself, but they give the people a lot of sweets and sugar with desserts every day, about which I don’t know how I feel. They have quite a few activities; she keeps busy. The staff is very friendly and attentive. One of my friends has parents who are looking, and I would recommend this place to them. "

"Sunrise was wonderful. They were very attentive, and they did everything for my father. He had a very nice private room. It was adequate. It was nice in all aspects. The place was clean with lovely decorations, and the attendants were always there for him. Their dining area was lovely. It was just like a restaurant. They had nice music playing. It was very nice. "My dad moved into here. It's close to home and the staff is very friendly and courteous. It's very clean, and it's only 5 years old so it's fairly new. What I liked was that the CNA's came to introduce themselves so I was very pleased with the reception they gave him. His room is very nice, very clean and it's right by this big window. Everything that he needs to become more self-sufficient is there. The location is right up the main street and the main expressway. There's plenty of parking so I can't say anything bad about it. We also tried the food and it was good. Right now, he's in quarantine for the first couple of days so he's not participated in any activities yet."

"We went to Belmont Village. It was a very nice place, but we decided against it because it was too far away. Everything seemed fine from what I could remember. It was a very large place. They had over a hundred patients. "

"My father has only been here for a few weeks now. It's beautiful, and it's practically new. Everything is clean and fresh. The staff is very helpful and very knowledgeable about dementia. The room is very spacious, and it's got a separate bathroom with shower, a nice huge window to look outside, and plenty of closet space. They have pet therapy come in. I was impressed at how clean it was, how spacious it was, and how much they knew about dementia. "
