My mother has been living in Notre Dame du Lac for around five months now. She is in the memory care unit. I think the place is very clean. It's quiet, and I think they're organized. The girls are good with the residents. They try to keep them busy, so they have arts and crafts. This is what we wanted for her, so she could feel better about spending her day. They're all private, big rooms. She can fit a couch in there. She's got a table and bookcases. There's drawers built into the wall. She's got a big, queen bed that is very roomy. She's very comfortable. They have a dining area, a kitchen, and a TV area. That's where they do the little things. They get off the unit, and they go to church every day. There's a mass everyday. We went in on Sunday, and she was in church. It's a nice big chapel. They have a couple of small courtyards around, shaded from the summer trees and flowers. It is very pretty.

Notre Dame Long Term Care Center (Notre Dame du Lac) was more expensive than where my father is now and a little stuffy. They had a chapel, which he would like because he's Roman Catholic. The staff showed us around, and the view was beautiful.

Notre Dame is a topnotch facility. It's an excellent place. My friend is there and he is now considering it his home and he is very happy there. Everybody was so welcoming and all of them are wonderful. His wife and children are all very happy that he is in that facility. The sanitation of the whole facility is excellent. I don't know much of their activities because he just wants to be by himself most of the time.

My mother moved into the Harmony section of Notre Dame du Lac 6/08. She has early Alzheimer's and needs prompting & cues. The Harmony floor is secure, the rooms are located in a beautifully designed floor plan, with a courtyard in the center. The rooms are very nicely laid out & residents have a sense of privacy, even with a roommate. The staff is very attentive, and there is low staff turnover, so residents have a continuity of care, important to elderly dealing with memory issues. There is a chapel in the building, many activities are provided, entertainment is frequent, and the residents are always treated with utmost respect. Although my mother is Protestant, she was included in services, and was a member of the Charming Chimers Choir. My mother thrived in this environment until a decline in her health forced us to make a change. I highly recommend Notre Dame du Lac.
